** I despise bumping my own thread but I wanted to update my thoughts on this **

I give Bioware credit for creating such an epic, epic, catastrophe of publicity on this.  However, I've realized that the game that shipped is what it is and the ending is the end.  I like the indoctrination theory and think its right, but I think that's delusional that they plan to expand upon it.   Meaning if that's what the ending is, they'll never tell us one way or the other.

The comments coming out of Bioware seem to think they have pulled off something awesome, and that smugness has cost them a customer.  Wife and I cancelled our SWTOR accounts earlier in the day.  I had started playing ME1 since I wanted to see this end to end (since I never played it) but frankly, why bother if it means nothing?

BTW these commericals that show all this fighting on earth to save the planet?   Is that an option that's available?

You know what the real shame is?  I really enjoyed playing this game and was looking to playing through renegade to see the other ending.  Oh well.

Interesting, I really stayed away from all of the drama until I finished the game and the whole time I'm talking to this little creepy kid saying "this all doesn't make sense" I realized it didn't.  The trick at the end is thinking that there are 3 endings.   There aren't three endings.  These aren't endings.  This is indoctrination and you are at the fulcrum.  Choice 1, control = TIM, choice 2, synthesis = Saren and Choice 3 = Reapers dead, Shep lives.

I went with synthesis and the second i did it I realized I had just lost the game.  Hey, I just let 15 million Quorians die to save the Geth.  Kill them too?  EDI too?  That's jokers new babe!?  It wasn't until I went back and killed the things, saw the ghost kid disappear a split second before I blew up the conduit (and why would shooting it make the technology of a milennia work?)  and then saw Shepard WAKE UP did I realize that the game isn't close to being over.

Just because its the end doesn't mean the story is over.   And its not the compliation of all the choices your Shepard has made to that point.  It's what you, the player, are going to do when presented with the posibility of being indoctrinated.  I choose poorly and am kicking myself for it, but I am also in awe of what they accomplished.

So my point, you aren't indoctrinated going into the final sequence.  It's whether you walk out indoctrinated or not is the outcome of ME3 as shipped.  The parts you see about the normandy survining with your friends is just so you feel better about being a slow drip IV feed for a baby reaper.

*** That said, the DLC ending better be free.  I have no problem with buying stuff outside of the main story arc, but the eventual final battle with the reapers needs to be seen and experienced by everyone or you will have a riot on your hands.

Just to differentiate from some of the other stuff I read, I think everything after the beam to waking up was the final indoctrination battle.  I think that no one made it to the beam, the relays are still intact and the citadel hasn't been assaulted yet.  The DLC will be the citadel assault IMO altho there is the possiblity that this gets the pseudo WOW xpac treatment.  Meaning that the ending is coming phases with a mix of free and paid for DLC content over a drawn out period of time.  There is ZERO chance that BioWare let's this franchise end like this.
