This is important: I'd like to know if there is some kind of consensus on this, because this is what determines what bioware CAN actually do about it?

The Bioware people aren't stupid: If they can make a few simple changes to the ending that will satisfy 80% of people, they probably will.

If no matter what they change it will only satisfy 20-30% at best, or if they have to rewrite the whole game, well, they probably will just give up.

So here's the poll. I'm trying to be as fine-grained as possible here, so if you suggest new options I'll add them too.
https://docs.google....TOWIxbVFZSFE6MQ

Be honest, be realistic, don't submit multiple times it won't achieve anything.

And here's the summary of responses.

Click on Form / Show summary of rseponses to view the graphs. Sorry I don't know how to share the graphs directly!

Full disclosure: I am personally OK with the ending and don't feel the need to change it. But I thought that if you're going to change it, you might as well change it in a smart way. I have not participated in the poll myself. Results are open for everyone to see in full detail

Oh and dear poll-takers, I'd be very grateful if you can take a moment to bump this thread from time to time. Since it's a fairly detailed poll it will need a large number of answer to have statistical significance.

Out of 7 responses so far
- 100% think the game is great and only the ending is terrible.
- 100% think it is salvageable with some effort.
- 2/3 do't want the mass relays to be destroy in any ending.
- Half want to get rid of the Catalyst altogether.
- EVERYONE, believes the Indoctrination theory is true, or should be made canon. That came as a surprise.
- Roughly 50% of people object to underwear in general.

Full disclosure: I did not myself participate in the poll.

I really need more samples to run tests on. Or I'll just go back to seashells.

One respondent only gave a long paragraph of text , I am posting it below for discussion's sake.

They can leave the rest of Shepard's life as open-ended as they want, but we were promised that we would have closure, not that we would have to write the end ourselves.  I would be totally fine doing that, but the end cut off so quickly it doesn't give any writer anywhere to start, what the basic ground rules are after the relays explode, a general idea where/when/etc the Normandy is.  It looked like it got sucked through a wormhole, so I as it stands if I were to write my own ending (since space magic is now canon).  Shep takes control of the reapers, opens up his own wormhole, travels back in time to 2006 and eats Casey Hudson's cereal, cause he's a badass.  Kidding, but I've been worried about the ending and only about the endings since I saw Hudson's approval of Deception.
Honestly, I think things would have been better had they just done a larger version of the suicide mission.  Based on war assets and you pick and choose squads or races for different tasks, etc.  The literal DEM (starchild) choice could just be something that momentarily disrupts the reapers, etc. Text endings for the basic future of the galaxy.  Though I do love the indoctrination theory and they really could do something with that, even say having Shepard being the final boss - saren 2.0 (for control or synthesis) and you take the role of your li in the fight or most talked to crew member with no li.  Wouldn't mind hearing Shepard "I am the Harbinger of your perfection"  I think that would dark enough to satisfy the "no happy end" people.  Destroy breaking indoctrination, could fight reaper TIM or even reaper Anderson.   Then text based epilogue if you can't afford any more voice/cinematic.  If space boy ghost is Harbinger and he controls the reapers, killing him in shepard, anderson or tim should confuse, stop or bring the shields of other reapers down.

I believe the question about the future of the krogans is there twice.
Also I propose the question:
"Would you accept the creation of a ending DLC as an apology?"

What does underwear have to do with anything? I didn't even see any.

Nice idea.
I pretty much just want an ending that makes sense and to see the impact my decisions will have had on the galaxy in the future.

Done and Thanks...
I changed that question into Free DLC vs pay actually. It's almost a given that everyone will want free DLC instead of pay if given the choice, but please be honest and say if you're willing to pay (more) money to have your wishes granted.

I want it to continue and show that my choices did matter, that making peace between the Quarians and Geth matters in the war effort aswell as how they get along when/if I manage to defeat the reapers on one playthrough. Or how the Krogans do now that they're cured, Or the fate of the Rachni and if they are left in peace afterwards and so on.

I have contributed to the Poll. Closure is the big thing for me, especially regarding Love Interest and crew futures.

The indoctrination theory is quite an interesting read, and given it's right, i just want the game to continue from where it left, with shepard taking a heavy breath after being hit by the reaper laser.

Pretty good poll. I like that it gets more in depth than some of the others, since those seem to suggest that the problems are simpler than they really are.

I find it hard to answer this poll because I'd change the whole damn thing. Push the "it was all a dream" button and start fresh from after Harbinger beamed the crap out of Shep.

Results are slightly hard to read. Is there no way to present the answers as a graph?

Voted and bumping. Hoping the indoctrination theory is true and we get DLC for free or cheap.

Well, honestly I'd be very unimpressed if I had to pay for the ending DLC, but I think Shepard's story deserves a better ending.

This poll could be a money management game.

Given $50,000 how would you allot funds to fixing the ending? Each major change costs $10,000 and each hi-def re-texture costs $5,000. Selling the ending DLC for $10 will make the suits in accounting give you an additional $10,000 for changes, $5 DLC will give you an additional $5,000, and so on.

Right now, people have no standard to decide how they would pick what they think needs to be changed. If they had to match prices and stay in an actual budget, you might get better "you can only change a few things" answers instead of "change everything like you have been given the original budget again! Someone call Micheal Bay! We're doing a live action ending!" Which would be awesome, but unnecessary.

Good idea on a poll by the way. I voted.
