Thanks buddy. It's nice to see someone that doesn't even have a problem with the endings take the time to notice that so many of us do

Hopefully, some good will come of this

Yeah I understand, and I love the poll by the way. But I don't see why people would want an option to beat them through conventional warfare, because in the end, the Reapers win every, single, time. Or maybe people think that having the cycle continue would be a better ending than the three given to us?

In fairness, the Reapers won every single time because they warp to the Citadel, assume direct control of the Mass Relays, and destroy isolated clusters one-by-one.

This cycle was different, thanks to Mass Effect 1.
They actually had to fight a united galaxy that could use Mass Relays freely.

That's true, but it's stated by the Protheans, Liara, (I think Hackett?) and multiple others, that the war cannot be won by conventional means. But you're right, maybe they're just wrong, and all it takes is a united galaxy to win the fight against the Reapers? You have to remember that millions are dying each day, and with that many Reapers, would it even be possible to win by conventional means?

Even if it were not an ending which perpetuated the cycle. But with the hopefulness of the time capsules, among other things would be a much better bittersweet ending then this utter claptrap.

It would even make the epilogue make sense.

I would say that, that should have been the usual ending. The cycle continuing but with the bittersweet knowledge that you will stop it next time. With the perfect ending being an actual, come from behind, 5000+ "how did you do that!" "we all thought it was impossible!" victory.

They could even keep the catalyst so long as those were two other options. Indeed I think that's all we need (aside from an epilogue and closure). Since it would truly make the decisions to either choose one of three of the catalysts options at a heavy price but save organic life/possibly be indoctrinated by reapers/forcibly make everyone robots, or you can take your chances, for those in the 3000-4000 EMS range it could be made even more interesting, by having some sort of meter track whether the Reapers or Alliance had the upper hand, with something like a percentage outcome. (Originally I thought this was what the point of the Readiness Rating meant, and I was hoping so, especially since it would allow for an easy way to determine the fate of each section of the galaxy.) So if the Systems Alliance Space had a readiness meter of 100% and the war assets were +5000, then you'd have something like a 70/30 shot at victory.  But ending with something like EMS 3000 and 80% would give you say 50/50.

You'd be able to know the risks of just standing by and not using the crucible, and any time if it looks like you'll lose you can use it, but the best ending would come if you take the gamble and win.

The whole thing is that I wouldn't want this huge massive ending replacement, but rather for Bioware to simply add additional choices to the end, where your journey actually matters! Shepard dying, other squad mates dying, it'd be fine with me, just as long as my hours and devotion to the entire series from the start actually meant something!

I really don't care for the 3 choice ending at all.. i feel by the time you are at that point. you are already committed in what you are going to do by the choices you have already made.

There are several options in the poll that would ruin the ending even more than it already is.

That's why I included a "let's not do this" option for each, so everyone can have their say.

If you have better alternatives you're welcome to chirp in. Please do try to keep them concise if I'm to add them to the poll however.

It's just that implementing the indoctrination hypothesis as is would invalidate two of the options for the final choice. Which would mean I - and other players who prefer Control or Synthesis - would have to choose against their personal philosophy. So far Bioware has scrupulously avoided that, right down to the encounter with TIM. You are never forced to say "trying to Control the Reapers is wrong", instead the Renegade choice lets you say "You sacrificed too much for that goal". I find it hypocritical that players who complain about their choices not having any effect are ready to turn two choices they don't care for into "you lose" buttons, ruining the game for those who don't agree with them. Basically, it would be like the game telling me my personal philosophy is wrong.

So here's my suggestion:
If the Citadel sequence proves to be unreal and there is or will be more to it, there MUST be a GOOD way to go on regardless of the choice you make.

I wouldn't change it, i'd leave it and add something else in. Add the idea that you survive Harbinger since thats when everything went to crap for shephard, he was either hillucinating or indoctrinated after that since Harbinger wouldn't leave him alive unless it aided the reapers. Which is all the crucible is, a way to aid the reapers and give life that false hope.

I didn't see one, but is it possible to do a sum column or perhaps a link that better displays the data? I saw lots of info but couldn't fit all on screen easily.

I always remove all unnecessary undearwear. Not sure what that has to do with ME3.

The poll is still pretty closed ended because its assuming that this was the intended 'end' to Shepard and not the theory that is catching on with a lot of people about bioware intending to continue Shepard's story some more in the first place

Honestly OP I'm not sure the poll as structured reflects my opinions on what should be done. I would prefer one of two things. Either:

-- Remove everything after the Reaper beam knocks out Shep and replace it with a "real" ending

OR

-- Leave the original ending in EXCEPT on the "perfect" ending [Destroy with enough EMS] allow Shep to wake up from the dream / hallucination / indoctrination attempt and then continue with the "real" ending(s) of the game.

Note: In the end I basically want what BW promised or stated such as many highly divergent endings where your decisions in the prior games and this game have a huge and direct impact on the endings themselves. I also don't want a "Lost" style ending.

I would be happy with a series of basically "tragic" endings simply because I don't need Butterflys & Unicorns. I wouldn't mind the option for some relatively happy endings but this isn't really on my radar at this time.

great poll and voted...*snickers* underwear....anyone else ever wonder what Thane and Garrus might look like with no top on???

anyway......

I was reading somewhere that one of the comments on the ending is that Shep living is unrealistic and in the "real" world Shep would die no matter what. Maybe thats true, but after Shep going through Hell in 2 games, dying, being brought back to life and killing anything in her/his way, realistic is not what I want. I want a "fantasy" game where after years of kickin butt and loosing life, friends and so forth that Shep finally gets some peace and love. No it doesn't have to be a happy fairytale ending, heck, she could even be scarred and loose a limb or something, but I think Shep deserves some reward for going through anything they did. Forgive me for saying this, but even an ending like in DA2 where Hawk is force to travel alone, BUT has her/his partner is OK too. Give me something that says Shep got some personal reward too for being who they were and what they did through all of this, even if it is alone with only her/his lover.

Voted. Is anyone else able to actually view the graphs? For me, the 'Form' menu is greyed out, so I can scroll down the spreadsheet to manually read the responses but that's kind of lame.

Same issue for me, anyone got screenshots of the results so far?

I thought I heard/ read somewhere that this was the last ME game and there would be nothing more. That this is the end to Shep's story.

I would simply add some voices and an extra minutes. During the ending sequence you hear the LI / oldest friend telling you to wake up. The voice gets louder the closer you get to the destroy option.

Shepard wakes up, smiles at GF, turns into a geth and shuts the reaper on Earth off with a thought. Real ending proceeds, epilogue for races and team members.

Destroying mass relays seem pointless as they will eventually rebuilt them unpon investigating the Reapers remnants.

as far as I remember, it gets all merged into the war asset number, the so called real "impact" your previous choices do :(
