So Kotaku decided to alienate 82% of Mass Effect players and then went on to insult everyone who plays the Soldier class. Smart.

The Article is based off that iPad App made by Geoff Keighley, that's somehow a strong and valid source of information.

First playthrough I chose Vanguard. :) It was the first class I tried in Me1 and it stuck with me. Soldier is good old reliable though so I understand why.

I either play stock maleshep(I've never managed to make a decent looking custom dude) or custom femshep(all the custom femsheps look great). I don't play soldier, normally play infiltrator or sentinel.

This data is from the earlier games. It's too early to have any data for what people are choosing in ME3. I'd be interested to know if the number of people playing as Femshep has risen after the focus she's had in marketing this time around.

I don't know whether to feel offended as a female gamer or not by some of the comments in this thread...

That said I have my canon female Infiltrator whose sniping was very difficult in ME3 and I just started my female engineer who I only played in ME2. We'll see how it goes :D *loves my inferno can't play without it!*

Maybe I'll play my male Shep... I might not be able to "feel" it though. <_< (not that you need to play female shep, but it's a VASTLY different game and you should always try get out of your comfort zone)

That's a lot of soldiers. Soldier is the one class I've never touched, it seems... boring? I like Sentinel or Adept. I play both male and female Sheps, though female more often.

My Shep is a female vanguard, i'm seriously underrepresented. I've played through a lot of times but I always preferred mixed classes, adrenaline is nice but I'm shocked there are that many soldiers.

Female vanguard biotic high five!

*high five* Represent!

*charge* OH CRAP I PRESSED THE WRONG BUTTON

FemShep vanguard 4 lyfe! Don't get me wrong, I like other classes on MP, but vanguards are a nonstop adrenaline-pumping action class. Melee was next to useless in the previous games, I love being able to pound on enemies and feel like it matters.

This. But especially true in MP. Going around stealing everyone's frags is just... glorious.

I like soldier.  Being able to slow things down on demand hlped a fair amount.  And grandes can do a lot of damage when the land correctly.

I also like infiltrator.

Never could get into any of the biotic ones for some reason.

Sad to see Engineers having such a low number...:crying:

Wow, I thought almost everyone was playing as a vanguard.

It's clearly the most fun class to play.

And the character gen menu is greatly improved from ME2. It's much easier to create better looking faces, whether male or female.

my FemShep Vanguard

not surpsied about the gender though, gaming is more popular than ever but its still mainly dominated by males

In case this wasn't pointed out earlier, the stats about gender preferences appear to refer only to X360 profiles. That isn't really all that surprising, because (speaking rapidly) xboxusersareallmouthbreathingignorantsavages.

Originally I played FemShep due to the voice acting in ME1 and ME2.

Then I discovered that BroShep could romance Tali. That changed the Mass Effect experience from great to epic. I found a more real emotional attachment in the game.

Some of the recordings for FemShep also seem to have been botched in ME3. At least they were in the demo. Both sound quality and volume seemed to vary greatly at some points.
