I vastly prefer femshep. Partly because I like Hale's voice acting more, but also for variety. The vast majority of games I play, books I read and movies I watch have a straight white male protagonist, because that's often the default. So when I see Sheploo my mind just goes "standard manly dude Space Marine... boring!".
Oh well, different strokes for different folks. I'm just glad BioWare games give us the option to play as we want. Now if only they had a body slider...
And Vanguards rock btw.

Femshep vanguard...ftw. I used to play as sentinel but it's so boring after you swap to vanguard!

Indeed. I guess this also falls in line with my thinking on RPGs. I don't play video games to play myself or an extension of myself or anything like that. I play to do things I can never do in real life and have some fun.
Well, aside from (imo) Hale's far superior voice acting as Shepard, being Female is about as far as I can get from myself in real life.
But really, I don't think anybody should have to justify why they play the way they play. People are going to do what they want to do with the game they payed for, who cares?

I'm not surprised by the numbers at all. My "canon" Shep is a soldier because I didn't know what the classes did back when I first started Mass Effect.

Admittedly my very first character was a male Soldier, but now if I ever find the will to play again I want to play as a female Engineer to bring those numbers up.

I think a lot of people started with Soldiers then tried other things back then also.
I didn't really get into Vanguards until ME2, after that I went back and did some other non-Soldier ME1 playthroughs.

I can't believe people play as soldiers so much. What a boring class! Vanguard and Adepts are so much more fun!

This argument again? Who cares what majority plays what Shepard? I've never understood this argument, both male and female Shepard have wonderful voice acting and all the classes are great in their own way.

I played Engineer in ME2, and I played FemShep except when I wanted a Paragon who romanced Tali...

The interesting thing is that overall 82% play Meer's Shepard, but on the BSN, I'd say 60-70% play femshep. It's kind of indicative of how unrepresentative this place can be of the playerbase as a whole, probably.

Yeah, I agree novaseeker. I among the ones who enjoy rocking with femshep.
