Firstly, I would like to apologize for establishing a new topic for something that is being discussed over and over again. However, the pace of creating new topics is so fast that I would have to click through perhaps over 15 pages to find similarly related topic. To put it shortly, sorry for me being so lazy.

Secondly, I would be grateful for any comment anyone might have on the following Character Build Plan I created in order to get over another evening of waiting for the game.

Attributes: As a general strategy, I'm going to focus only on Dexterity and Cunning. The main reason is the prerequisites. As for Strength, I think I can neglect it utterly since Dexterity contributes equally to Attack and Lethality talent enables using Cunning as a decisive factor for Damage instead of Strength. As for Willpower, the vast majority of the Talents I will choose are passive or sustained in case of Stealth. In any event, should my character suffer from low stamina, I can always start boosting Willpower from 13th level since I will have satisfied all the prerequisites by then.

Expected attributes at level 19: Str 11, Dex 38, Wil 24 (if boosted as envisaged above), Mag 10, Cun 38, Con 12.

Now, the skills and talents, as per levels:

01 ... I will play for Dwarf Commoner Origin.

02 ... Deft Hands
03 ... Coercion I, Below the Belt
04 ... Combat Movement
05 ... Combat Training I, Stealth
06 ... Dual-Weapon Training
07 ... Coercion II, Deadly Strike
08 ... Lethality
09 ... Poison Making II, Coup De Grace
10 ... Improved Tools
11 ... Combat Training II, Dual-Weapon Finesse
12 ... Evasion
13 ... Combat Training III, Dual-Weapon Expert
14 ... Stealthy Items Use
15 ... Coercion III, Mechanical Expertise
16 ... Device Mastery
17 ... Poison Making III, Combat Stealth
18 ... Master Stealth
19 ... Combat Training IV, Dual-Weapon Mastery

I prefer starting a completely new game with a well-rounded rogue capable of utilizing all possibilities the game has to offer (in the meaning of conversations and locations). This justifies Coercion and Deft Hands trees in spite of their assumingly rare use. I won't specialize in Dual Weapon Talents besides the passive Branch One namely because passive combat Rogue Talents seem much more interesting to me. (For example, activated Dirty Fighting + passive Coup De Grace would make a nice combo, while passive Combat Movement will further develop the most important feature a fighting rogue must posses - flanking and backstabbing, and so forth.) Poison Making is intended for fun and roleplaying mostly and if I find out that it sucks I can always re-plan the character accordingly.

Thank you for any useful comments.

Better than me. I have no idea how i'm gonna develop my rogue except to go through heck & high water trying to finish the game dual-wielding axes even if it turns out to be subpar in power. Dual Weapon Mastery better not be only useful for just Warriors, dang it! Image IPB

You're probably going to want greater than 11 str, or you're going to find your armor choices extremely limited. The requirement for leather armors runs from 10 str for tier 1 armors up to 20 str for tier 7.

Yea I really don't plan to be analyzing too much how I'm going to get the best rogue, I'll worry about planning my character after I'm through with the first origin quests.

Basically when it comes to this first time playing it if I can get the Assassin specialization unlocked I'll be pretty happy, even if it means my character isn't as big a killing machine as it could be.

I wish the ranger offered more than just summoning, it seems like without him having some extra fighting ability specializing as a ranger just for a summoned creature won't be worth it (particularly when you don't get one until level 7).

Tyrax Lightning and mars3750: I have never planned any character of mine in any game. In addition, I hate planning as such and I'm not good at it. However, after reading a bit about Skills and Talents in the Manual, I realized that they are so interconnected and so dependent upon each other that there was no option but planning in advance. Basically, you need (1) a corresponding level of Skill and (2) a certain value of Attribute plus (3) all previous Talents from the same branch if you are to be allowed to get the Talent you really wanted. Especially Skills are hard to come by since we will be getting 1 Skill point every second (rogues) or third level respectively. Finally, it was quite a fun, the best planning I have ever done!

NazzNAA: Thank you for a good point indeed. I will include in my further thoughts. Although I do not intend to go for a high tier of armour [I would need a higher Stamina (Willpower) too, all at the expense of other "roguish" Attributes] and that would shift me from a classic rogue nearer to a warrior class. However, it would be nice to have an armour of a tier higher than 1 (according to DA:J, I think that tier 2 or 3 would be just fine, keeping in mind that DA:J must have been simplified). So thank you again!
