Meer is great with a Renegade Shepard. Never really cared for Hale's Shepard. Her VA is ok I guess, although she was horrible in Metal Gear Solid 4.

Renegade meer is awesome, bar none. I always play a renagon and it's always epic.

Meer is definitely better at renegade than with Paragon.

Not sure why, exactly.

IF they make a ME movie it should be like the novels, a separate story away from Shepard. Maybe with Cameos of the non-human crew using their original Voice Actors.

In NO way should they try to translate the games to movies. Make a separate story designed to be a movie. There is a vastly different way to write scripts for Books, Games, Movies and TV series'.

That said I prefer Hale's Voice Acting. I'm a guy and I've been longing for a girl character that doesn't dress like a bimbo strutting around in heels and armor that shows off boobies for a long time.

Hale doesn't sound like a pretty woman who knows her looks, she sounds like a soldier who's special ability is putting boot up hindquarters. Her flirting, her human and vulnerable side sounds like that same soldier facing emotions they normally keep buried. She doesn't sound like a Juliette in her romances, she sounds like the same soldier she is playing.

its already decided that its going to be maleshep based on ME1.

that's why I said what I said.. I doubt people who enjoyed femshep for these past 5 years will be willing to accept this film as much based on this reason alone.. granted there will be bigger reasons why this movie won't be accepted by fans..

Meer's renegade in 3 is horrifying (and I mean that in the best way possible). His performance when killing Mordin and Wrex made me :crying:

I feel like Hale sounds assured and has a commanding voice but can switch and be soft or playful if she needs to. Her voice acting is great. I like both VA but Meer tends to sound too monotone sometimes.

Femshep was freaking awesome. Fine job, Ms. Hale.

I like both, but I prefer Jennifer Hale not based on her track record. She really sells the game and embodies the femshep role and for that I say "Bravo! Ms. Hale".

I don't like Meer because he is more stoic, I like it because imo he sounds more "warm" than Hale does. And yeah for me she does sound bit bored. People are entitled to these opinions, because these aren't FACTS.

Can you link me a VA segment where you think Meer sounds more warm than Hale?

Tali trial for example. ;)

Meer just shines better as paragon than Hale does.

I had to watch those. I don't think I could ever do that in-game. But yeah, Meer is much better in 3 than in 2 and 1 as well. He's definitely improved a ton.

Well I guess my sense of sound and yours are two entirely different animals. The Tali trial is an example of the exact opposite to me.

Meer, by far. Hale gets favoritism around here, but I think she delivers her renegade lines horribly, that forced deep tough chick voice she does just annoys me.

Meer in ME3 however delivers Renegade like a champ, and his Paragon good too.

Same here. I could never betray my bros Wrex and Mordin. **** the Dalatrass.

Mark REALLY improved in Mass Effect 3. It was a massive transition from Mass Effect 2.

Gotta hand it to him, he is really talented. He also did the Vorcha.

I think they're both good.

Initially, I preferred MShep because Meer sounds more suitable for the default face.

Recently (and I mean like 3 weeks before ME3) I've grown to like Hale more because I managed to make a face that fits the FemShep voice perfectly, in my opinion.

I used to think that Hale sounded a bit wooden, but now I firmly believe that she has a better range of emotion. She can sound more intimidating and her 'small-talk' voice doesn't sound disinterested.

Most of all, her final conversation with Garrus was (again, in my opinion) the best executed bit of voice-over work I've heard in any game, ever.

Jenifer Hale's voice acting is great, but I prefer Meer's. If not for his good acting, for how hilarious he sounds at times. Its wonderful.

Am I the only one that prefers the Male Shep Voice Acting to Femshep?

No offense to Jennifer Hale, but to me the Femshep voice doesn't fit right. To me it sounds like it's trying to be TOO manly.

To me the Maleshep voice flows right for all 3 Mass Effects.

Thoughts?

I think Femshep VA is much better, there is more emotional varience in the voice.

Male Shep seems to only have one emotional state, ever, though there is enough inflection to keep it form being robotic, his sad doesn't seem very sad, his happy doesn't seem very happy, his mad doesn't seem very mad.

Its sublte enough that I didn't even notice it right away, but I played 2 just before 3 came out, and combining it all together, plus watching some femshep on youtube made it really strike me.

That said, I still like Male Shep voice, and the VA isn't bad, just seems like the emotional range is a bit lacking.

You notice the easter egg in the drunk scene with Tali?

"Don't ah me. You sound like a vorcha." Since, ya know, Meer did the voices for the Vorcha. :)

See, this is what I mean.

What do you mean by "forced deep tough chick?" It's just her voice. You can hear the same thing in every VA role she plays. It's not forced, that's just Hale.

I love Jennifer Hale's voice. She is perfect for Shepard and her delivery is flawless. And I love that her voice is low, but I wouldn't call it manly.

Honestly, to me what really hit home how much I love Jennifer Hale was listening to the audio of that deleted scene with Shepard and Anderson at the end.

The Mark Meer one, which I heard first, is touching and beautiful and sad. But Jennifer Hale's delivery in the same scene just knocks it out of the park. I was sobbing while I listened to it.

That scene was flat out incredible.

I don't understand why they got rid of it.

Honestly, Anderson's VA was fantastic in that scene, especially the Paragon version. The "I'm proud of you" line and its delivery, it's just like he's putting his soul into it. I was holding it together till he delivered that one.

I go for FemShep. I dunno, her voice sounds more like she is not an actor doing voice over, she sounds like a character in the scene.

Yeah, I listened the same cut audio scene not long ago. Meer's performance was great, but Hale's was out of this world. Her acting when Shepard was wounded and bleeding heavily was probably one of the best voice acting I've heard. That's actually one of the main reasons why I prefer Hale so much better over Meer: What Meer does great, Hale does better.

Meer is also a comedian, and voice-over work is his side-gig (not saying comedians can't do serious roles) but I just think that comedy is where Meer excels. It is great to see how much he has improved over the course of three games though.

Nope, nothing wrong with sound and me.

It's again just matter of personal tastes, not about universal facts. You can try to shoe-horn it the way you want. Obviously you are beyond reason in this matter.

I disagree, i think Meer delivers his lines mastefully. Better than hale, though i respect hale as a VA too. While i think there is some bias involved here, i think part of it is in how we relate to the performance, and what type of character we want our shepard to be. But i think both actors deliver it excellently, Meer most definitely imo.

In all honesty i don't think anything tops Meer's Renegade performance, though he does awesome at paragon too.
