Malshep is neither a good paragon nor renegade thanks to Meer.
Jennifer Hale is a much better voice actor, Mark Meer's delivery is pretty damn awful, it all sounds like his lines were recorded from his first table reading.

In 3 the difference seems to be even greater, Hale can just get that much more emotion out in a scene than Meer can, i've watched the endings with male shepard, with anderson... there is just nothing there from Shepard. Thats just my my opinion no need to go spreading it around though. Thank you.

Mark Meer is 100% better.
When I asked before people essentially responded "Hale because I like female voices better". /facepalm
Most people I've seen have said it's because she's a better voice actor. I'll just leave this here again:

Because of that, i think that says both did an awesome job in the end, as i would guess they both are great for those they are meant to appease in the first place.

I just like the better actor. For example, I'm female, I liked the male Hawke voice better in DA2. In fact playing as a male mage character on my second playthrough warmed me up to that game more and he became my "main" DA2 character despite making him second. Though the gap of quality between the male and female voice actors in that game isn't nearly as wide as the one between Meer and Hale in my opinion.

He has improved a lot though and I'd say he is almost on par with Hale for delivery and will be as consistent after he does a bit more work. There was one line Hale did in ME3, forget where it was, that was almost as bad as the "Steeeeeeeve" incident. Nobody is perfect.

That's a good side by side comparison. It's pretty much why I can't play male-Shep. Meer is too 'flat'.

Well i disagree strongly that hale is the "better" actor. More experienced perhaps. But i think Meer nailed Maleshep perfectly. Especially renegade. Hale seems more forced in parts. Not sure why, but she does imo.

I think they are both wonderful regardless of who is doing the voice acting, unfortunatly the script is written almost exclusivly for a man and there are vary few moments for jenifer hale to introduce a more feminine point of view into the plot. In either case both are great and can't wait to see them both in more games
This is why I liked Mass Effect. The script for femshep wasn't written with 'stereotypical' fem pov. She has the same script as male-shep. It is powerful and assertive. Shep is badass, and that is gender neutral.

More experienced generally means "better". If Maleshep was meant to be a sort of dopey guy with no social skills and a flat voice... yeah I guess he did nail it.
Hale's whispery tone can be a bit weird sometimes, but overall she's the much stronger actor in my opinion.

In your opinion, perhaps. I do not see meer as dopey with no social skills at all. I certainly don't see him as flat. I think hale feels forced and unnatural, i think mark meer seems to more naturally fit the role.
Different strokes for different folks i guess.

Men in general would seem "flat" compared to how many women speak. I think hale feels forced and unnatural, i think mark meer seems to more naturally fit the role.
Different strokes and all that.
But it's not flat in just compared to her, most of if not all of the other actors in the games are better than Meer. Maybe that's why it's so grating for me to hear him in conversations. When I say flat, I mean he doesn't even sound like he's acting. He sounds like he thinks he's reading a voice over for an ad. Like MaleShep is never aware of the context of what he's saying.
I wouldn't say Brandon Keener sounds "flat" compared to Jennifer Hale because they're both good actors. Keith David and Martin Sheen don't sound "flat" because they're good actors and have quality to their voices when acting. It has nothing to do with gender and everything to do with acting ability.

Well your appraisal most certainly isn't shared by much of the 86% that play as male shep, so i'll just respectfully disagree, i don't see Meer's performance like that whatsoever, at all.

not saying its not bad ass, I play femshep too XD but I would have liked more moments for femshep to be a girl too just as there are plenty of opertunities for male shep to be a maly man. Just my point of view
