I'm trying to extract the VO files for DAO, and I have easily managed to convert the fsb files; I can't find any program to convert the .fev files. Or are they just duplicates of the fsb file, just in a different format? Example: There's party_ran_banter.fsb and party_ran_banter.fev.

The sound/VO/music files are stored only in the fsb files, you don't need the fev file to extract them.

the FEV's are index files for the FSB.

ahh okay. thanks.
Edit: After extracting the fsb files, I noticed that for each dialogue or song, they were broken up into multiple files. For example:
DA_m_lot_village_a1_n.wav
Da_m_lot_village_a2.wav
DA_m_lot_village_a2_n.wav
DA_m_lot_village_a3.wav
DA_m_lot_village_a3_n.wav
DA_m_lot_village_a4_n.wav
DA_m_lot_village_c.wav
Is there any way to make these into one file or will they each transist onto the next one without a "pause" in between each one?

The ones you list above are a music sequence. They are set to RandomNoRepeat. They transition from one to the next without pause. You do NOT want to combine them into one sound:) Check out how they are setup in the Music.fdp in the Event Editor and Sound Definitions
<folder>/music_ingame/DA_music_lot_village_a3
If you double click on the actual wav file in FMOD, it will go to the Wave Banks tab and show you which wave bank they are contained in. The above example is in music_bank_strm_new
Sounds can be split up to play many different ways; Sequential, SequentialEventRestart, Random, RandomNoRepeat, Shuffle or Programmer Selected
VO is handled much differently and very simple. I would suggest that you familiarize yourself with the vo/dlg sounds in FMOD before delving into music and possibly breaking your game music. The music is very touchy and relies on a precise FEV construction. Just trying to save you some heartache later, heh.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I wasn't planning on doing anything with it other than to listen to it. The fact the each of the files cut off abruptly at the end is what confused me. I thought it might've been the way the extracting fsb program worked that made them into separate files. The only thing I really wanted to do atm with the music was to listen to it.

okay, hehe. then you can just assemble them with a sound program. Not sure how it would sound, but I would start with the numbers and go sequentially. Since it plays in the game RandomNoRepeat... may not matter what order you combine them.

There is a pause between each of the files--such as Lothering's theme or the Leliana's DLC dungeon theme. Since each of these files are different from the previous, but are heard in the duration I'm in the town or dungeon (though I thought the Leliana song was all connected; each file of this one in particular sounds almost the same), I'm just confused if there is supposed to be the pause between the transition of the audio. Would a different program from Windows Media player play them one after another without a pause, or am I hearing it how it is supposed to be?
Thanks for the replies btw and sorry if I'm asking really dumb questions that aren't really hard to figure out. >< I'm just posting this many days later from the original post I made because I'm just converting the files to listen to as I continue thinking of songs that could go well with a playlist I'm making so I can burn them on a cd or put them on my ipod.
