Shepard "Maury, I am 100% sure Jacob is not the father of this baby."
Baby Mama "Whatever Shepard, he is with ME now, get over it. You're just jealous."
Maury "Jacob, do you have anything to say to these two women."
Jacob "But the priiizzzze"
Maury "Well, here are the result. Jacob, you ARE the father."
Shepard "I should go" *runs off stage as the camera follows.
(I used to have to watch this show at work, this scenario happens 98% of the time, 2% where he isn't and the guy dances instead)

Hm.
Has anyone considered the fact that it was coincidental that the black man cheated on his girl? I admit it's an unfortunate implication but I don't think it was done purposefully. It was done because Jacob was the most disliked and boring character in ME2 and they had no way of continuing the relationship in an adequate job. So they trashed it.

Also this.
a) He admits you're his fallback after Miranda dumped him. He's the only LI that can break up with you without another lover being involved.
He is not as into you as you think.
Yeah 6 months of nothing but everyone else stayed true. But the black guy. I'm not just saying this because I'm black I'm saying it because that's what it looked like. I'm not asian but Kei Lang was sterotypical. Vaga was also...

I know I make sure to tell people stories about my childhood and how my abuelita beat me with a chancla whenever I came into the kitchen while she was cooking menudo. That way, they feel comfortable with my ethnicness.

You're the one inventing conspiracies here.
how is falling into a racial stereotype a conspiracy? the writing was sloppy and had unfortunate implications because bioware was lazy.
perhaps you should grow up tho bro and stop acting like race issues aren't still a thing and like they weren't being perpetuated here~

All of them had heavier stuff going on - Garrus was advising the Turian military, Thane was dying (and on his second lover anyway), Kaidan was with Anderson preparing for the reapers, and of course Liara was the shadow broker. And Kelly is very loving so who knows what she was up to while you were locked away assuming you went with her.
Jacob was the family man and the only squadmate with nothing much going on. During your incarceration he (rightfully) judged that you weren't and likely would never be able to settle down to the kind of life he wanted.

True. True. You are right. Cheating was one thing. But cheat and knocking up a chiclk was like a one two punch. It just feels and looks wrong. It was two sterotypes for the price of one!

Yeah but still. Maybe I'm more pissed about it because I'm black idk. You don't think it just a little shady.
Also you can break it off with any LI at any point.
What do you have to say about Vaga and Kei Lang they were a littl racist also.

He clearly said he loved her. It was cheating the only black love intrest plays right in to a sterotype. Don't tell me to grow up, it was wrong and racist.
*gif of black kid saying "thats racist!*
Listen: it's pretty sad when a man can't be written as a jerk without it being racist because he happens to be a black man. Thats basically what your saying - you can't write a cheating man if he's black because it's racist. <_<
it couldn't be because he's the only black LI and squadmate or anything,

pls don't dismiss issues like this by bringing the race card into it
educate yourself:
Tim Wise said...
Asked about the tendency for people of color to play the "race card," I responded as I always do: First, by noting that the regularity with which whites respond to charges of racism by calling said charges a ploy, suggests that the race card is, at best, equivalent to the two of diamonds. In other words, it’s not much of a card to play, calling into question why anyone would play it (as if it were really going to get them somewhere). Secondly, I pointed out that white reluctance to acknowledge racism isn’t new, and it isn’t something that manifests only in situations where the racial aspect of an incident is arguable. Fact is, whites have always doubted claims of racism at the time they were being made, no matter how strong the evidence. Finally, I concluded by suggesting that whatever "card" claims of racism may prove to be for the black and brown, the denial card is far and away the trump, and whites play it regularly.

This. You would think the ones that had alot going on would not have time to even think about Shepard. I mean even Jack stays true! But the black guy? Oh no all they do is cheat. I'm really surprised that BW did not even realize this. I mean if one other LI broke it off with Shep I could understand but the fact that he is the only one and that is a known sterotype is horrible on thier part.

I think Bioware is just kind of... dumb. And didn't really think it through. C'mon, looking at some of the wallbangerish things in the game you know it is true.
Anyway, I can already see where this thread is going.

He took on the task of protecting those scientists, so no, he wasn't sitting idle. Brynn tells Shepard that she actually went after him, knowing that he was in a relationship. So, he knew it was cheating. Brynn knew it was cheating. He could have even sent an breakup email, which is douchey, but since he said he thought he'd never see her again, would have been the least he could do.
I'm not saying it's necessarily stereotypical, but the Jacob we met in ME2 would have behaved in a more honorable manner. He could have let Shepard know that he wasn't committed around the time she turned herself in to the Alliance for the trial. He could have written to her once he got involved with Brynn. He TOTALLY could have protected those scientists and their families without knocking up one of them.
While it's fine that the writers wanted to take one of the squadmates in a new direction, it sucks to do that to a romanceable character.
Why not make ALL the romances end in tears and misery, if it's such a good idea to do it for Jacob's romance?

1) YOU can break it off, yeah. But he is the only LI in both games that can break it off with you totally on his own.
2) Kai Leng is an expy of Kai Lan from Jade Empire so the martial arts are understandable; I don't see anything else stereotypically asian there. Vega I'm not seeing either, what racially stereotypical things does he do? Eat all his food out of foil? Have a dozen brothers and sisters? Is he a hot latin lover? (doubtful since he doesn't come on to Femshep.) What does he do?

Oh no I don't think they sat down and said "Black mean ALWAYS cheat, write it up." It's just that BW is a big company you would think some one in a meeting would have been like.

Also I think that Jacob cheating and being black is coincidential.
Anyway, thats why you should romance only green or gray people.
