I didn't mind how Tali's face was handled to be honest. I wish they had taken their own photograph and photoshopped it well (with a fitting background) but I liked the idea of a picture of her maskless. It makes sense, anyway.

The excuse that she won't live up to the hype is bull. That's like saying "Let's stop searching for extraterrestrial life because they might not look like the little gray men people imagine." Terrible excuse. Sometimes, reveals work well. Sometimes not. I think Tali's face would have been much better received overall if it was a cut-scene instead of a picture that show up depending on a different game. As it stands, anyone new to the series wouldn't be able to see Tali's face without having played ME2.

Here's the other major fanart version of Tali that's gone around the web, (not mine, obviously, if someone knows the original artist, that would be great, I can't find him/her). I've just cut her out of that wallpaper I linked earlier.

I imagined something like this image. When I first saw it, I thought it was official concept art.

Can anyone upload a pic of the quarians/tali from the artbook?

Because it is? the artiest was a concept guy for Bioware who left the team at some point...

That begs the question, why didn't they use it?

That's a human. That or the PS version is the same thing.

The rest of her head I expected to have only short hair (if any) and to be abnormal (like the asari) but flatish-round.

I read the wiki...

"If Shepard is in a relationship with Tali after retaking her homeworld she will tell the Commander that she has left him something in his room when speaking to her on the Normandy."

Something tells me that tali might have done the photo-shopping (so to speak).
I still stand by the fact that we probably aren't meant to be able to see the image clearly, and thus we will probably get a proper reveal in a DLC.

i don't mind the image that was given, I just think there is quarian-unmasking-based DLC coming.

Tali might have done the photo-shopping? That's just absurd. I mean, Shepard already know what she looks like.

It's like unmasking Master Chief... I don't know how people could possibly want that.

Except I'm the Master Chief and Tali is an NPC. Chief stays masked so you can better place yourself as the character. It serves the same purpose as character customization in other games, like Mass Effect. Tali removing her mask wouldn't break the illusion of the story-her face is something we want to see but it doesn't matter either way.

He said that the Harry Potter films could never live up to his imagination running free while reading the books... but then he went to see them anyway and that illustrates his point...
