Yep. Knowing that your decisions and whatever the hell you do in the trilogy doesn't matter in the ending really kills it.
Did ME3 ending kill series replayability completely?

It did for me.
I love the games, but when something so badly written for ME3's ending pretty much nukes the entire series, there is something WRONG.

I've already replayed it once, hoping that there was some dialogue I missed towards the end that would help me to understand what the deal with the Normandy just up and leaving after magically scraping my squadmates up off the ground. Near as I can tell, I didn't miss anything. *sigh* I'll most likely play it again as BroShep, maybe a third go with FemShep. I'm doing my best to not let an inconsistent/incoherent ending ruin the series for me as a whole. I have many more good memories about the Mass Effect series than bad ones.

Yup, replayability is dead, the simple fact every Shepard gets to the same "ending" choice and gives no closure makes any replaying null.

Yes.
I have 4 Shepard saves from ME1-ME2 ready to play and absolutely no interest to play them after the first canon soldier Shepard playthrough.
Before that damn ending I couldnt wait to start my renegade vanguard after canon one but now it's completely pointless.
Gj killing the game.

YAY Resurrecting Old Thread!!
I've only done 2 full playthroughs of ME 1 and 2. One with BroShep (who is my original Shep), one with FemShep.
I played with Original Bro through ME3. I've said it before but I was shocked and spellbound by the ending of ME3 (yea, the good kind I guess), but like many of you, I was still saddened. I tried doing another ME1 run through but couldn't do it. Too sad. Stopped at Eden Prime.
But I was listening to the ME2 soundtrack and it got me into it again. I got excited about playing the franchise again. I think I can do it now! We'll see...

It doesn't have any re-playability value anymore. BioWare could've been smart and given re-playability of all 3 ME games + sold many more copies of the first two by making it extremely difficult to defeat the Reapers.
Complete all side-quests in all 3, have 5000+ EMS and make the right war tactical choices in the final mission and you win and get the happy, complete ending. If not, you lose. It would've pissed off a lot of nerds, but it would've been better than what we got.

Honestly I was expecting it to be like the other mass effect games where I immediately did a second playthrough and started a third. I haven't touched campaign since I beat it. Can't bring myself to play another 30 hours for the same ending.

For now, and for me, the replayanbility of the franchise is badly crippled (i wouldn't say killed yet), it's been near 2 weeks that i finished my first playthrough, i wanted to play lot of my Shep (done around 15 playthrough from ME1), and ... i didn't launched ME3 since i saw the ending (i didn't hated them but felt totaly unsatisfied) ...
I still want (wanted?) to make a second playthrough in insanity as hardcore was too easy... but i just can't launch ME3, i don't know if i'm waiting for the news in April, i realy do want to play again this aswome game, but ... i don't know... i just, always find something to do instead.
And the longer i wait, more i feel i don't need to play any Mass Effect game again.
So, no need to say, the futur dlc won't be part of my long list of Bioware dlc... sadly.

I actually restarted my uber-Renegade Shep in ME2 since I can actually get some satisfaction from victory in that game. (and his face won't currently import into ME3).

Yes.. why invest my time/effort/heart in redoing it when i know just how horribly badly it will all end =/ The thought alone depresses me, and I am a big fan of replaying games... ISTILL replay the Baldurs Gate games...
Maybe thats the point though.. they want us to buy other games not replay ones we already paid for... sadly all it did is make me not want to buy anything else from them ever again

Yes, it actually killed the other ones for me too...
Unless they fix the ending I am pretty much done with ME

I replayed through ME1 and partway through ME2. It's pretty hard to enjoy, especially when thrown away plot points emerge. The Haelstrom mission is one of the best in ME2, and seemed to be a setup for ME3. Tali's team died for the data for a dark energy plot point that is discarded in favor of the crucible. It made me so upset I haven't been able to continue in ME2 past that point.
Also on the Collector Ship, Shepard says, "I'd rather die than be a tool of the Reapers." This ticked me off knowing how it ends.
Yes, it killed the replayability.

I'm not a very big gamer, never have been, the games I chose is reflected in their re-playability. That was the beauty of the Mass Effect series up to ME3 - I'm sorry to say that has been utterly ruined by the extremely poor ending of 3.

motivation for the single player mode is completely gone for me. Now I spend my days in multiplayer. At least in multipayer I can decide my fate.

Yes it did! I only played it the second time out of hope that BW was planning something awesome. But I can't play it anymore -- I finished ME2 about 7 times: this one may stay as it is unless the ending is fixed. Because I see no point in playing either ME game until then, nor any ME3 DLC.

Posté 29 mars 2012 - 03:39
the only reason I can even consider playing ME3 again is if they release a ending DLC to fix the ending, otherwise I cant go back to it,

I was one of the unlucky who's character didn't import into the game well. Have five other characters saved with different storylines. But even when they release the patch to fix the faces import, I still don't plan on playing it again or any DLC they release later unless the endings are fixed.
Not boycotting just don't see the point.
