Did ME3 ending kill series replayability completely?

My replays were always the same. Because I wanted to feel the awesomeness of this series (when there still was only ME2). For after having finished ME3 I planned to replay the whole series from ME1 to ME3. But there's no awesomeness in ME3 (the beginning and main part are awesome though, but the lack of a well thought of ending ruins everything).

I've stopped any Mass Effect related playing activity. Instead, I'm in this forum now for frustration venting purposes.

Would be well into my 2nd playthrough right now… and damn, some parts of the game really are worth playing numerous times, but it's all spoiled forever. :'(

If I can play ME1&2, make as many bad choices, get as many squadmates killed, do whatever i can to set myself for failure, and i still can get all the endings in ME3?

Yeah that's not cool. It really diminishes the replay value of the entire series. I'm sure lots of people probably planned on having a Mass Effect marathon by playing all 3 games in a row. That's out the window now. Nobody was kidding when they said Bioware killed the entire franchise.

Pretty much. Kinda sad too, since my next import was going to be a vanguard.

Personally it did. The first game was my favorite and i can still play it, but the goal i was working towards in all 3 games proved to be useless.

For me it did, I just can't play anything knowing it will all end the way it did. The same reason I can't watch movies with horrible endings or read books with horrible endings again.

Could be an underhanded marketing tactic; kill replay value in order to stimulate new sales.

EA doesn't get paid for us playing the same game 6 times through and if we're not, then we're more likely to buy new games.

Lol. I love the "Thanks Bioware" dripping with sarcasm and disdain. Too funny.

If the mediocre endings kill replaying this game and/or the earlier games then you're doing it wrong. It's like people don't even give a crap what's going on around them all the time they're playing the game. It's apparently all about the end. Must get to the end, nothing else matters.

Ridiculous from my point of view. I'm on my second play through and I have many more planned.

There are other games out there, more then I can play. Why come back to a franchise that ends so poorly it condemnes the entire series?

Currently, yes. Certainly it's killed ME3's replayability.

Yep, it's dead alright, and that the final 5-10 minutes can have such an impact seems mind-boggling at first. I refused to believe it, but when I got to the end myself there was no question about it: The impossible had just played out before my eyes.

Just curious here.  I think most of us have multiple shepard saves collecting electronic dust right now.  I'm under the impression that there's is no point in importing any of them because:

1) You can get the "different" endings in the end just by picking A/B/C, and
2) All you have to do to get your EMS up above 5000 is play MP, which isn't dependent on your imports

So basically, I could have randomly picked any major choices I wanted throughout the series (e.g. saving Rachnii queen, saving Council, etc.) and I'd still be able to pick my favourite color in the end; and the only thing that I'd need to do to see Shepard take half a breath in the end, is to play MP.

Thanks, Bioware!

Umpteenth ridiculous thread. Those choices you made in the past matter in determining whether or not certain characters live or died and your ongoing relationships with them, not to mention things that appear only in an abstract sense (like fleet strength and the level of goodwill towards humanity based on whether or not you saved the Council - and I remember that from a Codex entry). That the endings, unfortunately, don't give you much variation doesn't mean that everything else didn't matter, and it clearly did/does, given that some people will see Corad live or die depending on what they did in ME1.

I don't even play any attention to the plot anymore. Every hopeful thing anyone says just makes me laugh. Every time a cut scene or auto-dialogue relating to the main plot rolls I tune out and surf the internet until its over because I know it's meaningless. All that hopeful, "We can do it!" and "Unite the galaxy!" talk has no point. That inspiring speech Shepard gives? ROTFL.

However, I'm enjoying the non-plot aspects of the game on a second play. The character writing is still exemplary. I'll just let Marauder Shields save me this time.

Actually, they make a lot more money from replay value. Replay = DLC sales.

Right. Usually, when I buy a new game I often play it immediately again after the first time...

I even planned on getting through all 3 Parts again after finishing ME3...

But right now? Haven't played a second since sunday when I finished ME3 and still don't feel like it...somehow it is too depressing to go onto an adventure when you now the outcome is color-coded martyrdom without any chance of triumph...

Somehow it's cool that a game, or better a story and characters, can have such an emotional impact on so many people around the globe...but...

Oh well, still hope on the horizon, I guess...Image IPB Image IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB
