I'm gonna make my main character a Mage, and I want to play through on Normal with him being the only Mage. I'd like to get some suggestions on the best way to build him to get me through. So far I know I'm gonna grab the heal spell, and likely Crushing Prison( getting forcefield in the process). Any other ideas?

Yeah, I was planning SH/BM, and was going to get the spirit healer spells, but not all of the "Heal" spells. Rejuvenate and Regenerate don't seem that useful when I could get something far more useful from another tree.

Heal and Force Field are the two I think are important to have if you only have one mage. Beyond that, knock yourself out.

you don't need to be a healer. I did a run with one mage geared to dps on nightmare. As long as you have lots of potions you'll be fine. besides a dps mage can put down such a massive degree of hurt on your foes that you won't really need to be healing all that much due to the fact anyone who comes near you will be dying horribly.
