You know this whole thing is rather funny I find. As someone who enjoyed the game and the ending I cannot help but look at the vast majority of these posters and see similarities between you guys and one of those weird doomsday cults that always end in mass suicide when they find out they were just overreacting. People will do anything to be heard I guess.

Just in case you haven't been paying attention. An overwhelming majority of the people requesting a fixed or alternate ending are being civil. Very outspoken, very loud, but overall civil. Comparing that to a doomsday cult that commits ritual suicide is both misinformed and childish. If you enjoyed the ending of the game, more power to you. A lot of us did not see any sort of coherency or closure, and that is what all the noise is about.

I have no problem that you guys didn't like the ending, like you guys, I was just stating the way I feel about your whole war on Bioware thing you've got going. I have just as much right to call you guys a cult as you guys do to complain about the ending all over the internet.

^ I think saying that the people here are willing to do a mass-suicide is going way over the mark there, bud.

I think some of the things some people in the group do are tasteless (LET'S DONATE TO CHARITY TO SHOW BIOWARE HOW SRS I AM) but they have every right to be angry and it's natural for people to group up like the way they are doing now. It's NOTHING out of the ordinary.

Most of these things you see as olive branches aren't that at all. They are part of the already planned launch period of ME3 (Star Wars I can't speak for). The N7 MP weekend was planned some time ago - before the ending situation came to light. Not everything revolves around this controversy. It's just unfortunate timing. Same goes for the recent strategy videos for example - we filmed those weeks ago. I think Corey and Eric did a great job in them and was dismayed at the vitriol in the YouTube comments.

You're complaints are being heard, and considered and discussed etc, but I wouldn't read so much into some of the marketing stuff we're doing. I know a lot of you won't buy that - i cant "prove it" - but I've actually always been honest with you guys all the way back to ME1. Operation Goliath is an event we planned because the multiplayer is really fun, and we want to engage the players with it (i just completed the challenge tonight myself!). Of course we had events and releases planned for the week after launch-week. There are no nefarious scheming evil meetings on this topic. We take it seriously, and are discussing it internally. Nobody is happy or dismissive about the fan reaction, at BioWare. Quite the opposite really. These are good people who care deeply about the work they do.

I would suggest patience but not sure there's receptiveness to that at this point.

Guess that's all I wanted to say for now. Have a good night/weekend.

I don't believe this for a second, and if I were to believe this, than it would mean Bioware is sneaky and dishonest. If Operation Goliath was planned weeks in advance, they should have known about these "technical issues" that prevented PS3 owners from taking part and notified us accordingly. Instead, we're told only when the event is announced that we can't take part.

Everything Bioware says just moves them further and futher down into the hole.

A point also to remember. These are bioware's forums. Its easy for them to make a new id with whatever stuff they want, post something to inspire conflict or create anticipation so people will shut up as well as tell others to shut up because "XXX is coming soon".

It's a fair point you make, but I'd be careful about continuing down that line of reasoning. It would not look good for you to accuse every troll you see as being a Bioware agitator, especialy without substantial proof.

@atghunter
I love your analysis and have been keeping up with it. I filed a complaint with the FTC against EA citing specific statements their marketing campaign made about the content of the game, specifically the endings, and how that didn't match with what was in the actual product. I made a thread on here explaining what I'd done and how others could do so as well, and predictably recieved a mixed reaction. The story has now gone viral on gaming news sites.

Many have said this hurts the movement and it's legitimacy, but I disagree (obviously, or I wouldn't have done it). In your opinion, from a PR perspective, did my action help or harm?

And please, I know some folks will want to jump down my throat right away, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't fill up the thread with a bunch of hate. Just start a thread calling me an idiot or pm me, or at least wait until atghunter has had a chance to respond.

Some interesting posts here. I think the Retake movement could use some improvements though. The mission statement on the Facebook page for example has a bunch of spelling mistakes, and tweets like "almost forgot I had a twitter! Oops..." on the Twitter account won't exactly help people take the movement seriously. There's plenty of people that want to ridicule the movement, and not giving them a chance to do so is important as well.

So take a stand! Reach out to those folks!

Such an interesting thread. I found the different POVs extremely fascinating. The only thing that bothers me is the unknowns about the ending. Did they run out of time or was it always meant to be like this? IDK, but either way great posts. Lets hope we get something out of this and that Bioware is listening. Mass Effect is one of the best franchise in video games. It's such a pity that this discussions are taking place, but it really goes to show how much people care about the game and want to improve it.

My personal opinion is not that was an inappropriate action to take, just that it's probably a little too soon to do something so severe. Let's give them a chance first.

The thing is, I believe Bioware will make a ton of money if they do decide to do a "DLC Fix" of sorts because many people have stated they will buy it (including me) and it will make a lot of people happy again, even though we won't (and more importantly, shouldn't) forget what happened. They can't go wrong if they make this DLC ending, well only if they **** that up as well, LOL.

Will I hesitate on future Bioware products, yes, but was ME3 a bad game, no. It was one of the best games I've played in years and I do like the ending, but I really, really want a happy ending with my Shepard and Jack, they deserve some peace after all that fighting.

We need to stay on target. It is typical for some people to come in and sow dissension within the ranks. "It is essential to seek out enemy agents who have come to conduct espionage against you and to bribe them to serve you. Give them instructions and care for them. Thus doubled agents are recruited and used." - Sun Tzu

"Pretend inferiority and encourage his arrogance." - Sun Tzu

You are free to do what your conscience deems you do.  I don't agree with that action, but it isn't wrong.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Suicide pact cults are not something I would use to ridicule something I didn't agree with, but I suppose that's just personal taste. I find it in poor taste. You can say you disagree without dropping to something so negative.

Mass Effect portion starts at the 4 min mark

Thank you.  I really enjoyed that.  It was respectful and talked about it in an adult fashion (suck on that Faux Newz lol).  Can't help but wish that games had more coverage and more mature coverage in the news and mainstream tv.  The BBC has Click, but that's a small programme mainly dedicated to gadgets etc in general and doesn't always features gaming.

No, it is supposed to end like this. they basically admitted it...or did admit it depending on your perception. If you look at hudson and Walters comments and comments by the documentary guy...this was supposed to leave questions and be bittersweet.

But what is it about our doomsday cult's impending mass suicide you enjoyed most?

People who insult those players who dislike the game's ending really don't get it. First, they're ignoring the actual posts and discussion that's going on which has been very civil. Being opinionated and resolute are not exclusive to being respectful. Second, these posters are resorting to "ad hominem" arguments...that is, they're attacking the people making the arguments rather than the arguments themselves. This is logical fallacy number one.

I've read posts by people who enjoyed the ending and listened to their reasons why. I respect their opinion, but I don't insult them simply because I have a differing opinion.

I look forward to following this conversation and seeing how it develops.

Oh wait, hang on, if it's a suicide cult, I don't need to worry about sugar, do I? Yay!

Sorry, my sense of humour is going to get me into trouble one of these days... lol

Than you, kind sir, I'm flattered. I certainly am weird, even doomsday sounds like a excellent idea to me. But I must disapoint you, there will be no sicide on my side. Not even an attempt, kinda like myself.
