Great news!  I don't have highspeed so I can't play online but how much does TOR cost a month?  If more and more people do this Bioware will be losing a lot of money not just from Mass Effect three but on a month by month basis for the whole company.  We can win if we stick together and don't cave and don't fall for the spin.

Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

Question: does the SWTOR account cancellation request a reason for your leaving the game? As in, can I tell them that I'm cancelling because of the ME3 ending?

Why is it that people keep coming here telling us "I'm happy with what I got and you all need to stop because I said so?"

Returned my PS3 copy of Mass Effect 3 today.
The Best Buy employee asked if I was returning the game because I was finished with it, or if I was doing it in protest. When I told him that the reason I was finished with it and the reason I was protesting it were one in the same, he just said 'Hold the line' before refunding my money.

Hold the line.

I tried to think of how to express the singular impact of a moment like this but it speaks for itself.

Well it is because they said so, and that their opinion counts more than ours. Didn't you get the memo?

I echo Boceephus' sentiments above. The community/movement should not expect a resounding 'victory', if one is even coming, at PAX. Setbacks to our desired goals, stalling actions from PR damage control, and outright silence should be expected not out of a malicious disregard but because the tactics in play are tried and tested.

The people at the PR offices stake their careers and livelihoods on navigating this situation in a manner acceptable to the people who sign their paychecks. I, for one, wouldn't want to hire a PR department that didn't deliver in times like this: While I am not ascribing to establishing a siege mentality, or us-against-them no-prisoners, we should look to the future remembering a line from the movie, The Siege:

"In this game, the most committed wins."

That's why I formed the PAX East Platoon. Any new recruits are welcome. What we really need are people discussing the goings-on. Unfortunately I've been too busy with some other things and on these BSN boards to really push for discussions internal to the group. Though when it comes down to PAX East Crunch time with about a week to go, I imagine, or hope, at least, that discussion will pick up and we can organize some real-life things.

If nothing else, I see this as a great way for the player-base to let other developers know that making a game is still very much a collaboration between it's players who fund it and those individuals that help define the overall story arc.

It saddens me to see some reporters like Ebenezer Samuel at the New York Daily News go against what the community is trying to say with their constructive criticism. Sure art is about creating YOUR vision of something, but I believe games go a great deal beyond this definition. Games are a conglomeration of ideas and precedents formed by a community of people, not just one individual with the whole story. When developers forget this, even for a moment, the player-base should be entitled to show some criticism -- as should be the case! Would you react any different if a story you helped write, as so strongly confirmed by BioWare themselves, were to suddenly rip you away from everything you worked so hard over the years to craft and give you ultimately little closure?

We as responsible gamers have a right to voice ourselves when a company forgets who got them to the point in which they find themselves resting. We have our handprint in the making of the Mass Effect storyline just as much as any writer. Do not let big corporations or "leading" news reports tell you otherwise.

I don't like this thread at all. It makes it seem like we are at war with Bioware, with us being the attackers instead of the victims.

We shouldn't be organizing military strikes like this. If we do Bioware can use it against us to flip the roles around and claim sympathy from the media for being attacked by angry fans. At that point everything is for naught. I know we are angry but if this happens then we lose everything and nothing will happen. Don't flip the roles. Stop with the attacks. Remember we are the victims in this situation, not Bioware.

"The Most Committed Wins"

That is the perfect way to sum up my feelings. I don't mean to come off as a fatalist, rather I'm trying to keep people expectations realistic for a long drag out survival oriented fight. The people at PAX will have to be loud, organized, civil and above all else seen and heard, that will be our victory at PAX. Something as simple as matching shirts, giving out buttons, etc will let people outside the movement know that something real is happening here.

We can not win battles where Bioware's PR team controls the field. PAX will come and go as nothing more then a commercial for future DLC. MP weekend WILL be described as a rousing success no matter the actual numbers. But these are far from defeats, they're too be expected, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't continue to hold the line.

Concessions will be made quietly, here on the forums and with little fanfare. Abstaining from MP helps even though it wont be acknowledged. Have a little hope and trust in The Line.

I personally wonder what the real effect of this is. Would this not hurt the smaller shops more then the big publisher behind the game title?

Wow... It's unfortunate for people that are enjoying TOR but it makes an important statement. Was in a games retailer yesterday and asked whether there'd been many returns of ME3. Oh boy there were. The guy behind the counter was trying to have some fun with them by suggesting they get TOR. The responses couldn't be quoted...

Good for them. I'll be joining them very shortly and returning my game before the end of the week if I haven't heard anything.

One more way to hold the line.

Is there anyone here who would be able to create a Retake Mass Effect site? Just something outlining our position (I think there's 2 threads on that atm) and a place where we could put up all the links to new articles for someone to read at any time and not have to worry about someone having a link handy.

Well its not a conspiracy yet, since there is no counter or some live stats about the event. After its done maybe it will become one. With your post you answered my question indirectly.
It seems you trust BW to be truthful no matter what the score is at the end. I can accept that. And I didnt think you were trolling.

Regarding the Goliath Weekend and the "community" challenge with 1 mio Brute kills. Since there is no counter of any kind, after the weekend they can tell us anything they want...

What do you think would happen if the challenge was won/lost regarding the PR?

I myself find it hard to trust Bioware regarding the final score. They could change it to whatever suits their needs/PR better.

I would really like to stop people from thinking that these types of events are held to sustain damage or to distract you all from the endings.

These so called conspiracies are just getting laughable at this point. As someone in the goliath thread itself stated.

I agree. Could not bring myself to play it anyway, as the endings would be in the back of my mind.

Cry directly in a jar I'll go drink it at the bar.

How
is a 3 day get the community together to play for 3 days supposed to
distract you from the endings? Do you guys have such bad ADD that you
think it would work? Or is it that the "knee jerk" reaction you are
having has not worn off and you are lashing out at everything they do?

Hold the line guys they shalt not distract is with.... OH MY GOD SHINY!

Syrellaris, I agree with you, insofar as that the event itself was already planned beforehand, even before release date. However, I disagree with you, in that it IS being utulized as a distraction at the moment. Were it the case that the game was received with universal praise, the event then would have been used, not as a distraction, but as a 'favor to the fans', or rather, to keep the momentum of the game going.

Similarly, EA and Bioware know that the base who plays Mass Effect, also plays SW:TOR. Maybe not all, and certainly not all SW:TOR players play ME, but there is a lot of shared ground. Handing out the free weekend passes doesn't seem like much, but it does take away some of the momentum of the movement. Those who are playing, aren't complaining. And that takes energy away from the movement, and once that inertia is gone, it is very hard to get it back, even if those people return, and that is exactly what EA is counting on.

DO note, that we have had an individual here in the thread, explaining that he was contacted by EA for this promotional campaign , contacted only a day or two ago. This in contrast, so he explains, to the usual time where he is contacted for such a thing, namely weeks to months ahead. So, yes, there is somthing going on there, which isn't surprising.
