Someone did a complete breakdown of why the ending just does not make sense or offer closure. He broke down every aspect and flipped it over. It's a great read and reminds us why we are holding the line.

Retake Mass Effect 3!

This is excellent! I am assuming it has been tweeted or sent to Bioware already?

If not, it really needs to be! :)

I vote for this to be our manifesto! We can launch a second letter campaign and snail-mail it to Bioware and EA.

I believe that currently Bioware is trying to ride out the storm in hopes that the flame burns itself out. We can't let that happen. We have to get the message across that the fans, the ones who have followed the series from day one, the ones who put their hard earned money into the series, are not going to be ignored and have a right to be heard.

We are not a vocal minority, or a non vocal minority. The members upset with the endings are the majority. I have brought many of my friends into the Mass Effect universe with ME3. They don't visit this site. They don't care about the series like I do. They are playing it because they have seen how much I enjoy it.

But I have heard their opinions on the game, my friends who don't own another Bioware game, question the ending. It confused them. They see some of the problems I see.

We have to make Bioware realize that we are not the only ones who are upset. We must hold the line.

This!  We have to stand together and not let this burn out after a week.  Don't make all those people in the press who said what a joke we are right.  Do not touch another EA or Bioware product until the new ending DLC is released.  As long as we don't lose hope and work together we will win in the end.

Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

It occurred to me last night that one of the more powerful tools we have at our disposal is Google. If searches for Mass Effect 3 turn up links to criticism of the ending, we will definitely have their attention. EA's marketing department will definitely notice if this happens, and if the problem doesn't go away, they'll be on the phone to Bioware pretty damn fast with a message to "fix it".

If we can get EA's attention, they'll want the problem gone. EA shelled out a fortune for Bioware because the name prints money. Bad press could cost them a fortune. If Bioware isn't scrambling to fix the ending yet, they ought to be soon. Mass Effect will go down in history as that really great series with a terrible ending.

Hold the line.

yep, Google Bombing would be a great tool

If we all keep this up I dotn see how bioware can not redo the endings.

Theres never been a more vocal/organised umm "resistance" like this before in the long line of video game outrages.. the time will come everyone. As long as stay this strong Bioware will have to act.

I've been doing my second playthrough on Insanity just for sake of a challenge made it to the quarian/ geth conflict got busy came to the forums saw how much momentum this is gaining haven't touched it in 4 days. Had some free time today really wanted to play some MP but every time I feel myself falter I'll watch the ENDING not endings on youtube to keep me square. I'd love to say more but many have already expressed exactly how I feel a million times better than I ever could. In the meantime I shall enlighten myself on PR tactics and continue to hold the line.

It's all down to economics now. We got to get as many people with us and be as loud as we can to convince Bioware it will cost them more money to ignore us than appease us. Keep up the good work and hold the line!

There's a move in /r/masseffect to get #RetakeMassEffect or #RetakeME3 trending on twitter by 3 PM (PDT) tomorrow afternoon.

I posted earlier, but thought I might bump the message. Here's the blurb we're using:

@masseffect ME3 was outstanding, but the ending is unacceptable. When will new content be made available to address this? #RetakeMassEffect

or @masseffect ME3 was outstanding, but the ending is unacceptable. When will new content be made available to address this? #RetakeME3

Really, the folks at twitter aren't going to give us any other answer than the standard reply they've been giving us, but it would be good to get the exposure that trending brings. REMEMBER TO BE POLITE, RESPECTFUL, and COOPERATIVE. We aren't BioWare's enemies, quite the opposite. We just want the ending that the franchise and we deserve!

Thank you for sharing that.  I'm spending so much time in my inbox and trying to keep up, I feel like I'm occassionally falling behind (which should be understandable as I am old). :)

Don't worry old timer.
We'll keep you updated if you miss something while you're gone. :P

I have to be honest with you all. I can't hold the line anymore. I want to advance, and I want to keep advancing. I take a lot of my philosophy from many people throughout history, and one of those people was the man who made the following quote:

"Now there's another thing I want you to remember. I don't want to get any messages saying that "we are holding our position." We're not holding anything. Let the Hun do that. We are advancing constantly and we're not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy. We're going to hold onto him by the nose and we're going to kick him in the ass. We're going to kick the hell out of him all the time and we're going to go through him like crap through a goose!" -General George S. Patton, Commanding Officer, Third Army Group, United States Armed Forces Europe.

In many ways sitting on the defensive is all well and good, you always have the advantage against the attack, but you apply constant and unrelenting pressure upon your enemy, their defenses will become moot, begin to crumble, and soon they'll either be in full retreat, or will surrender. At this point, we can no longer just "hold the line". We MUST as a matter of survival and to bring about an eventual end to this internet conflict, advance, and keep building the pressure, keep forcing the issue into the light, at no point should we, as Patton himself stated, report in that we're holding our position. Let EA and Bioware do that.

I may not know much about art, but I know what I bloody like!

John Cleese. A finer comic there is not.

That kind of sums up the endings as well doesn't it?

Artistic licence? Pish, give us 4 endings, one where Shepard rides off into the sunset with the LI. One where those grimdark lovers see the galaxy in flames. One where the Reapers win. One where Shepard dies and the galaxy wins.

Problem solved.

this sums it up for me.

"Never before have so many come together from all quarters of the galaxy but never have we fought an enemy such as this. The ending will show us no mercy, we must give it no quarter. It will terrorize our populations. We must stand fast in the face of that terror. It will continue until our last fan falls. But we will not fall. We will prevail. Each of us will be defined by our actions in the coming battle. Stand fast. Stand strong. Stand together. Hackett out."

EA PR knows that gamers have a wide selection of choices when it comes to the games they play. One minute I could be playing ME3, the next I could be playing Forza 4. All I'm saying is that many gamers will get bored eventually if nothing is happening. They will say "oh well" and move on to the next. Just today some friends wanted me to play MW3. We didn't even talk about Mass Effect.

EA PR is betting on our short attention spans. Hell, they could wait it out for a month or force another company to release something like a new teaser trailer to distract us. New Medal of Honor, right? Many people think it looks cool, so they could pull a quick one and force out a new trailer. SSX, let's give people 30% off, let's get them playing something else, talking about something else.

We can't let our concerns die down. We have the right to voice our opinions untill we get a definite and conclusive response.

There are 2 types of gamers - a story driven gamer (like your average BioWare fan) and the "I like all the pretty colors" gamer... (who worships game mechanics, fast action shoot'emups, and high-res this or that.) After EA bought BioWare, they've been pushing them to appeal more to the 2nd type of gamer... And that's what we've seen with DA2, ME2, and ME3.

My thoughts exactly. Seems like EA wants to cash in on the CoD kiddies crowd. I wouldn't doubt it if their next ME game is a FPS with a completely throw-away plot and bright, big explosions. It used to be that a good story came first at BioWare. Now, they just couldn't care less.

Well......let's just say I wouldn't be too surprised if they did.

Surprised that this hasnt made it to this thread yet but got it from the California Literary Review gives ME3 2.5/5 stars, due to the ending

I'm especially fond of his last sentiment that at the very least the united fleet would want to go down with a fight.

One final act of defiance, with all war assets coming into play
