I know, thats the problem.

No offense, but the real world won't take you seriously if you are not a traditional movement. And I know this from experience.

I dunno, we seem to have a lot of people, especially at BioWare/EA taking us seriously. And we have some spokespeople and figures that are rising up, so that makes us very different from OWS.

Also, for those unfamiliar with it the majority of security for PAX and PAX East is done by the "Enforcers". It's not just security that these guys do but a huge amount of work and crowd entertainment and just generally making sure things run smoothly.

These guys are all volunteers and love the convention and the attendees. They make PAX and PAX East possible. They're not traditional security and it's not a traditional convention. I think anybody following it will be pleasantly surprised by how positive the entire atmosphere is, especially compared to events like ComiCon or Anime Boston, etc.

If bull**** starts to come up within sight of my group of PAX Easters, though, you can certainly count on me to resolve the situation.

Vigina. ATGHunter is the one educating us on Bioware's possible PR tactics. Buchack is compiling them at the front of THIS THREAD. Come on man. I'm responding to this guy, he is asking genuine questions.

he's not genuine..his mind is made up. IMO.

Ok.

Who is your president, treasurer, spokesperson, PR person, and chief organizers?

I think you're mistaking us for a traditional movement in so very many ways. We have leaders or organizers who have emerged from these boards, but these were people who rose to fill the holes that were needed.

This is not a traditional movement by any stretch of the imagination.

I know, thats the problem.

What is your interest?

The original post in this thread contained some absolutely fascinating insight into the PR world, and this entire process. I am partially posting in this particular thread just to keep it featured prominently, because it contains a lot of info that people should read.

I have to hand a lot of credit to this movement. I'm a cynical person who expects the worst out of people protesting on the internet based on things I've seen in the past, but I'm happy to say that this movement has surprised me. Most everything I read involves some form of constructive criticism. After the Hepler fiasco showed the worst that the fans had to offer, this discussion on the endings is showing the best. Finding out that people are bringing attention to this by donating to charity in addition to voicing constructive grievances is particularly heart-warming.

I know that I am one of these people who was severely disappointed with the ending. It just made me feel bad, and not because it was sad. I love tragic, cathartic ending done well, but I did not like the execution of this one for reasons of inconcistency and uncompromising bleakness in every way. I for one will not be playing this game until this is resolved satisfactorily. I just can't do it.

But Bioware has shown me since their Baldur's Gate days that they have brilliant writers who tell some of the best stories I have ever consumed. Period. This is something they continued to show through the entirety of the Mass Effect games, including all but the last few minutes of ME3. That's a good record. And I have every confidence that they can continue to show us their skill with alternate endings.

I will conclude this perhaps somewhat unfocused post by saying that I have loved Bioware for over a decade now. I have defended things they've done even when they were unpopular, because I have always seen their passion and care in their products. But I am speaking against them now, with the greatest love. And I say: Give your fans this ultimate gesture of caring for their opinions, and when this is through, I will defend you more passionately than ever.

Trust me, when I say you do need all of this. Otherwise all the efforts will be for naught. As for your spokesperson, tell them to contact me at their earliest convienence, IF what you say is true.

Okay, I really appreciate your feedback. I'm the person who's created the PAX East group and am trying to organize it. However I do not appreciate the attitude and shouting at us you're doing. I understand skepticism, but it seems to me like you haven't read any of the other threads on these boards.

And you presume shouting...

The attitude is there due to treatment, by the way.

And yes, I did read them. Keep that in mind.

Like I said, friendly warning if you want this to succeed.

Organize yourselves, pick leaders, make sure they can lead, and don't cause issues.

Otherwise, the entire movement will fail pending a mass protests against DLC or something else. I have to stay neutral because I am technically press. I will also admit I am against this movement, but it doesn't mean I won't report on it fairly.

that i like to ear press as been realy bad for us so that makes me happy

It's just odd that someone who isn't interested in what you're trying to do sticks around for 160 pages.  Call me paranoid.

I apologize if you've been poorly treated in this thread, but it certainly seems like you've just muscled your way into this thread and told people "it's either my way or the highway". I understand you may have organized protests before, but that methodology is not going to get you anywhere with us. Please come at this from an angle of discussion rather than simply telling us what to do.

Oh it's fine. Ive been called worse.

That was really the only question I had, along with the warning. As I said, if you want to set up an interview, have your PR/spokesperson contact me, and well set something up.

just be warned, I will be asking tough questions.

Don't let yourself get distracted. All we have to do is not touch any EA or Bioware products and we will win. We don't need to start fighting on the internet with other people because there is no law that says we have to buy bioware games or we have to elect people to tell Bioware that we are not happy that they lied to get more sales from us.

Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

 Also @Link

I wasn't mistreating you on purpose. I interpreted telling everyone they need to have a formal structure when everyone wants to keep it a strong community focused thing as rude. Sorry if it came across that way. ;)

That is fine. I just don't want people misinterpreting your questions and getting angry. I understand what you are trying to ask (Even though I'm sad you are against the movement) and will contact you when our spokesman is ready to come forward.

Concerning PAX:

Well, considering that yes, one guy can completely screw the whole thing for everyone, handing EA a PR victory they didn't earn, my question is...

Would EA plant someone in the crowd to make a complete tool of themselves to give us bad press?

Because what's more feasible? Making a multimillion dollar DLC, or paying one guy sixty bucks to scream really loud in a public place?

We can deal with the situation if that happens.

If I may ask... How?

I have a suggestion, if I may...

THE RETAKE ME3 WALKOUT

Sit tight until whomever is the emcee announces the Mass Effect 3 team.  And as soon as they hit the stage, everyone affiliated with the movement gets up and walks out.

It achieves the goal of peaceful protest, and if anyone does stay behind and makes a complete tool of themselves, we can distance ourselves from them by saying they weren't part of the movement because they didn't walk out with you.

If it's done quietly and peacefully, the security guys won't stop you.  In fact, the only way I can see this blowing up in the movement's face is if they pick that time to unveil The Truth, and if THAT'S the worst case scenario...

Forgive me if it seem presumptuous of me to suggest this, but I only wish to help.

I love, love, LOVE the tshirts for PAX you guys created! Not only do they look awesome, it'll really give the cause a boost to have everyone in matching shirts. I know you guys'll do us proud!

Heck, I'm not going to PAX, but if I didn't give all my disposable income to Child's Play this month, I'd totally grab one of those sweet shirts!

Hold the Line PAX platoon!

I wish it had the money to go. This year I cut it, along with MagFest and NY ComicCon because I was let go from my day job.

Sadly our site doesn't have the budget for it either, were trying to save up for E3.
