Anyway. back on track topic. I hope everyone gets refueled for the upcoming 5 days.

And I hope this will be a week to Hold the line.

And, with any luck, we may be able to break $100k on the donations page.

Hold the line!

Congratulations, any progress we had made is now completely undone.

Umm... What?

Wait...what? Source on this? As far as I could tell, we were not to that step. Even if we were, I don't think anythign would be "undone".

Good Evening (here) All,

I'm 20 pages back, but wheeling my old gaming self up to you as fast as possible.  But first, a fun story from earlier this evening.

Went to see John Carter with my real life LI.  Bad guys wore red, good guys wore blue, and the neutrals that side with the blues were green.  I swear I'm going to end up seeing those color choices everywhere.

Here's the good part.  My wife and I were getting some popcorn/soda and discussing ME3 (she is the best person in the world to bounce ideas off of) before going into the theater.  A young guy (heck everybody is younger than me) was restocking the soda cups, looked up at me, smiled and said...

wait for it...

you guessed it...

"Hold the Line"

I shook his hand and told him he'd made Marauder Shields proud.

Use your voices.

Check the thread that just went up, and its link.  BioWare's facebook page just stated that they have no intention of changing the ending at this time.

IE:  Our efforts thus far have been worthless.

My personal choice has been to abstain from MP as well as SP (not like I'm motivated to play SP anymore anyway) since finishing my first playthrough. That is how I feel I am holding the line.

Good on you!

vigna wrote...

I refuse to play it all...even before the ending. I shouldn't be forced to play multi-player--something i don't enjoy at all.

Now, this is one I haven't seen yet. I see most people at least finish the game (myself included). Were you just completely pushed away by the talk of the ending?

Personally, I stopped palying single player. I'm not very motivated to since I won't get a different ending. I can't even think about playing ME1 or 2 anymore.
I do, however, very much enjoy multiplayer. I've had far too many laughs with friends just screwing around with cluster grenades. I love multiplayer in games. I am refusing to import my characters though. I feel like that should not affect single player and I'm showing it by keeping my multiplayer characters in multiplayer.

Have to say, I was just about to start Quarian homeworld before I saw the Ending issue. I was trying to refrain myself from spoiler but when it was this big of an issue....I stopped playing and didn't touch the game since ( this was a week ago. ) I have to thank to those threads so I don't have to feel the cruciating pain of experiencing that non-sensical garbage of an ending myself and save myself from feeling sick in the stomach.

Oh , I look at the endings after that, just to be sure and well it was as bad as or even worse than people said. So now I am here .

As for MP... I thought it would be a fun side activity but not a big feature to compete with say, COD or Battlefield series. But now I see this ''harmless'' little feature more as a DLC dump for EA to use and shell out more packs ,weapons , armor etc soo MP junkies can pay them more. And it kinda took away from the finished product of ME3 , by the looks of the ending and that abysmal mission journal.

So no, since I stopped before Rannoch, I didn't touched the game either SP or MP... although I have some friends who also hated the game and even cancel their Sub from SWTOR but keep playing MP since they already paid full price and don't  want their money go to waste... I can totally understand that.

I hope Bioware and EA realize we can be a force for good, like the first post suggested. I bought Mass Effect 2 as a Christmas present to a friend, and now he wants to play Mass Effect 3. I've always supported the franchise through word of mouth, but I told my friend and my brother how I wouldn't recommend they play the third instalment. I'd like to get back to that place where I support Mass Effect proudly to everyone, as a fan.

I'd expect them to be planning stuff if we were making any progress at all, yes.  They aren't planning anything.  And the longer it stays out of their plans, the worse the chance of anything getting done.

You know what, Ive sat here reading and answering a few posts and reading more, and this one stopped me. I saw how its being treated like war, and how the non-bioware people warn you, not to take anything Bioware says unless its what you want, to try and get you to not roll over, and accept defeat.

i admire it, but they are doing the same thing, Im sitting here and now re thinking my thoughts on this whole thing, the page 1 post allowed me to see that, but its also influencing my thoughts.

its true if promises were made they should have been upheld, and i am sure most of you would not be here if they were upheld.

guess what im stuck thinking is the "movement" is justifiable, standing up and fighting for something you love? sure but using innocents(a children's charity) to get what you want is wrong. I wouldnt be suprised if most of you dont give to charity, because $2 a month or £5 a month is "too much", so your only doing it now to look like the good guys, when the old saying has always been "the customer is always right" you didnt have to proove anything.
With the war terms being thrown about then does that mean this could be classified as borderline terrorism?

Im not sure myself. just thinking allowed and wanted to share. I too am not happy, but at the same time, I dont think anyone has ever really held my opinions high, outside my social circle. so i dont think anything i say would change a damn thing.

and just to clarify, I liked the raising money part for the charity that was really nice, it just feels like its being used as a "catalyst" if you will, so you lot can get what you want. and no charity should be used that way.

I truly understand how you would come to that conclusion or thought process.
Believe me, even I have had those thoughts before I joined.
But here is how I think, or at least justify, this action.

While it is true that we might be using a charity to further our own means,
we are fighting over a video game ending.
Because the fans who love this game so much are strong and willing to give,
underneath it all we are fighting for mere entertainment.
In reality, We have raised over 65,000 dollars for either the kids/or the game.
While we are fighting for a virtual concept, we are also fighting for reality.
What matters is that Real world positive outcomes happen.
We are not asking for ransom. Not a real world one, at least.
Our only ransom is peace of mind.

I cannot remember the last time something like this has happened in the name of the children,
but only after something horrible happened here in the real world.
Well, we prove that a genocide does not need to happen for all of us to chip in.
Only a group of people who are willing to do the right thing, and maybe, in the end,
grant ourselves the peace of mind all of us should be striving for, in virtuality and reality together.

Regardless, we know we may not get what we want.
However, something good will come of it in the end regardless.
Before then, however.

We will hold the line.

To quote hunter, he says they are assessing data on the situation. We did not expect them to be working on the ending this soon. So, this is still not an issue. We haven't made that much progress. We will though.

Honestly, I'm slow. Can you just provide me with a link? I'm trying to watch The Walking Dead and talk to my wife at the same time.

Also, I really don't think that means we've done nothing and we no longer have a chance. They can't ignore this.

We are making sure no matter what happens, good comes of this movement. Even if we fail, we can be happy knowing we added a little fun to a child's life.

Id be happy with that outcome also,  i mean its good that your making sure all the time and effort put in will do some good reguardless, i can commend that. =)

Hey, you guys see that post they just took down on Mass Effect's facebook page?

"At this time we don't have any plans to change the ending but we are still listening to everyone's feedback on it."

Sounded like a bot reply but still wanted you PR expert's take on it.

Hello, I've been waiting to post on this thread for days now but I initially signed up with the wrong address and had to wait a further 24 hours.

Let me start by saying that I bought Mass Effect 3 on the day it came out. I'd been waiting months for it and had pre ordered it at a local independent store.
When I got the game, instead of playing it right away I decided to start again at the beginning and play through all three of the games. So I set out on a paragon path, spent roughly around 35/40 hours on each game. The first, the story is amamazing, game mechanics are a bit rubbish. The second, amazing story continued and the mechanics were a dream too, pretty much the pinnacle of gaming (which is what I thought when it first came out too) so I finally get to Mass Effect 3 and I'm completely blown away by the level of detail in this game, the levels are probably the best I've ever seen. I found myself just stopping playing and watching Reapers destroy everything, to say the least I was very impressed. Then as start to get into the story I cure the Genophage but at the expense of one of my favourite characters, Was a tear in my eye as he was singing Gilbert and Sullivan just before the explosion took him out, astounding stuff. I also let Leigon upload the reaper code and uplift his people and also unite the Geth and the Quarians I'd really come to love the Geth after meeting Leigon, he's such a good character (the N7 plate, I bellive there was more to that than just repair, he admires Shepard so was a bit disappointed I never heard any more on that) so was more heartache to see him go, but again it was for the greater good, there were a lot more sacrifices to be made yet but I was in for the long haul.
So skipping forward to London, best level design yet, fully immersed, said good bye to all my crew and was promised I was gonna get 'laid' off jack, make my way to final assault, it's all breath taking stuff but the  when I meet the catalyst it all starts to get a bit strange. Now I have no problem with his explanation of the reapers but I do feel that the endings were pure rubbish, I was left with a feeling that I couldn't place so I ce online to see what others though. I was blown Away by the Amount of people's that felt the same way as me.

Its so great that we're all together and not standing for this.

Actually they removed that comment. Even now, I don't think they realize just how organized and capable we are. There were fifty comments to that one post in what, a few minutes? None of them supportive of the ending. We are making strides and gaining numbers even when it seems like a slow news weekend.

Don't let the facebook post shake your faith. That's exactly what they want it to do. If it shakes your faith and you give up - that's one less voice decrying the endings. If it shakes your faith and you get angry - that's one more voice added to the 'angry mob/easy to call a minority' pile.

Stay civil, stay motivated, keep each other's spirits up. Hold the line. The probability that this would take a relatively long time to get a result was always quite high.

Hold the line! :)

Edit: it's also worth pointing out that with that facebook post going up and then being taken down, they win on both fronts. Because the BSN doesn't miss a beat, the people who are posting here are going to be made aware of it, leading to the aforementioned 'losing faith' and because they've taken it down within a very short time span, the public at large aren't going to see those comments attached to a Mass Effect facebook post.

Don't let it get to you! Keep doin' what you're doin'! Play the long game!

HOLD THE LINE

Welcome to the BSN.  The ending has us all upset, and hopefully you will fill the hole left in your heart by Mass Effect with a little bit of our Retake Mass Effect movement.  We are happy you're here to help us hold the line, and I have a couple suggestions on things you can do if you're willing.

Like the facebook group here: www.facebook.com/DemandABetterEndingToMassEffect3
Donate to Child's Play in support of the cause: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/9845819/1

Keep things civil if you venture out into the BSN, but do engage on all fronts.  Bioware will have to be worn down by our concerted efforts, and in the end we will find the ending we wanted.

Our Choices Should Matter - Hold the Line
