Waning numbers here in the forums don't mean that the RetakeME3 movement is failing. Once players have said everything they want to say about the endings, it's inevitable that the frequency of posts will decline and our collective interest in the topic will wane and wander.
The important thing is that everybody *remembers* how dissatisefed they were with ME3's ending in a few weeks or months time when BioWare start trying to sell us DLCs, MP content and other sundry merchandise we don't want. So go ahead and do something else with your time, but remember to Hold the Line once more before you open your wallet for EA.
We are not done yet bud!
The only reason I made that comment is because some people seem to think we've failed if BioWare doesn't make an official announcement soon, but that isn't the case. If the consumers present a united front, they're the ones in control here.
I'd also like to add that I, like all the true BioWare fans, hate having to harass my all-time favourite games developer in this manner. Unfortunately for them they're paying the price for setting such high standards. If this were any other game or any other company I'd shelve my disappointment and go straight to a competitor, but nobody out there comes close to competing with BioWare ... when they're on their usual form.
Excellent post. Don't think for one moment just because people aren't posting here for periods they've gone away and are suddenly happy. And do not let it dishearten anyone to be sure. I've said, folks should take breaks because this will take time (EA’s people will I assure you). Its a marathon, not a sprint, and its pretty clear at the moment your voice is being heard! It will be tested. Keep expressing yourselves!
As I've mentioned, even when not here, there are a multitude of things you can do collectively (and individually) to keep being heard.
Letters to EA, joining Retake, donating to Child's Play, giving feedback, closing accounts, etc are all viable outlets to let EA know you're not happy and you're not going away. Use your voice, even if it to tell friends how you feel about the game (on either side). Btw, letting the media know about things like Retake and Child's Play are solid ideas IMO. Lastly, there are some excellent efforts at organizing I'm seeing and I salute those stepping forward to do so!
This thread has become a quasi-chat room and I think that is great. It has some excellent folks I see in here often giving guidance, solid advice, passionate (but civil) no-nonsense opinions, and watching the walls (an unfortunate necessity given its popularity). New people are arriving constantly. There are community discussions going on all the time.
As an analogy: This thread of reminds me of a train station receiving people from some natural disaster. People arrive (upset, frustrated, and trying to get their bearings), find people already here receptive and helpful, get advice on how to travel on, and then light out. They come back for more advice or to discuss, or better still to help other people that have newly arrived.
Sure EA hopes everyone stops talking/posting/etc about this situation. This is a PR flash fire. But they are not so foolish to think this is going away without some form of détente. Whether the resonant voices here that are unhappy with the endings represent a majority of their gaming community, I doubt even they know (though I suspect it does). What EA
does know at this point is that a big segment of
avid fans are upset.
As for me, I will go to work tomorrow, dedicate myself to my job, and plan to check in when I can. Will I still be holding the line until I get home? You bet.
The new press cycle starts tomorrow and the pieces should start moving again btw.
I admire everyone here who has used your voice (no matter what side you've taken) with passion and civility. I applaud the folks who are here so often keeping things civil and our thread's creator. I encourage folks to check in here and Retake as they can. These are great sources for updates and you can genuinely help folks who are newly arriving with suggestions how they can express their approval or disapproval.
