i think its interesting how fast they were to jump that latest book's inaccuracies *going so far as to promise to issue an updated edition) but so far refuse to own up on their own games inaccuracies.

wheres our updated mass effect 3 edition?

hold the line

Hi there, I'v never posted on a Bioware forum before and I wouldn't usualy but I felt the need to add some support to this effort, I was wondering if anyone had any directions they could give me as to how I could best support the RetakeME3 campaign as someone who believes the trilogy is 99% fantastic and that 1% is redeemable.

Thanks for spending time on an ignorant (and probably annoying) newbie

Welcome to the BSN!  Thank you for coming and you will find the solace you seek here, but it won't shake your burning desire for new endings.  I have a few ideas as to what you could start doing.

Read the first post in this thread, it's long, but worth it, and it will keep your senses sharp as you trudge through ankle-deep PR spin.

After you've done that, there are a bunch of things you could do.

Like the facebook group here: www.facebook.com/DemandABetterEndingToMassEffect3
Donate to Child's Play in support of the cause: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/9845819/1

Head out into the BSN and start engaging, but don't tire yourself out.  Tomorrow is a big hurdle, as it is the first day of the work week and the first day that Bioware will be checking in officially on how their weekend PR went.  That is the day to make your voice loudest.  Post here, on facebook, on twitter, anywhere to show that you are holding the line in support of changes to the endings.

Remember, above all, remain civil in all your dealings here on the BSN, it is a core tenet of what we're about.  We all love Bioware and we know they can make it right.

Our Choices Should Matter - Hold the Line

You just made an old gamer proud Sir. /salute

Honestly, I'd send this to anyone who is newly arriving here.  If I got here and received this welcome, I'd bake you cookies!

Fine post.  A fine post indeed!

You should see cyrrant. He's been keeping that up every time I'm around to see it! I kind of feel like he's here 24/7. Just greeting people. It's amazing!

Amusingly, Dragon Age II has a 98.3% negative score.

I approve.

To be honest, we have to expect BioWare sticking to their guns in terms of the original ending and not expect anything for a while. This is going to be a long battle for a better ending for you guys. For me, my time with BioWare and EA is over but I will be in for the long haul for you guys.

Remember Marauder Shields and Hold the Line!

remember those great heros of past battles
marauder shields who died trying to save us
shepard who suffered the most in this story
did they break the line no
now is our time
we raised money for a charity but before that we held the line
we crossed the 40k like on facebook but before that we held the line
we became legion to fight for our conviction but before that we held the line
we fought amoughst ourselves to come out stronger but before that we held the line
we were fed false information but did not take the bait but before that we held the line
we were offered a mp event to calm us down and it did not work but before that we held the line
so until we get what we want
WE WILL HOLD THE LINE

Greetings, folks! I have been a silent partner in the crusade to Take Back Mass Effect since I first heard of the furor about the endings. I joined the DemandABetterEnding facebook group almost immediately, and I have donated to the Child's Play charity. I plan to donate again soon, this time a more substantial amount (I have decided it shall be my official charity of the month).

I have not posted here before because I had some issues trying to access an account here that was linked to my PS3 ID. Now that has been straightened out, and I shan't remain silent.

ATGHunter, thank you for your words of clarity, and for your encouragement for all sides of this issue to speak their minds with passion and civility. You have acted as a navigator in these stormy waters, helping to guide us away from the shoals so we did not run aground. I constantly tune in to this thread to see your advice and your perspective, so I hope you will not stop offering them.

To everyone else, thank you for your words of encouragement, your amusing anecdotes, your links to news stories, and everything else that *should* have been coming from the major gaming news sites... but was completely absent. It's wonderful how you as a community have been able to step in and supplement, or even supplant, the broken system of information distribution that I had relied on for years.

Thank you most of all for making me realize I was not alone, not a sole, pouting man-child with no hope that the dreams Mass Effect 1 ignited would ever come to fruition.

I will Hold the Line.

That was really a screw up on Bioware's part, and it was probably Jessica's fault (or the fault of whoever assigned that "uninformed person", though I would assume that would be Jessica's job). They really shouldn't have let an uninformed individual take control of the facebook and twitter duties without telling him "do NOT comment on the ending", or something to that effect.

I don't think anybody's gonna lose their job over it, but it'll at least help keep the fires stoked.

Imma go all inspirational up in the hizzouse!

A Facebook post? Why should I worry about a non-commital Facebook post, when I'm standing side by side with you guys and gals?

Look around at everything we've achieved so far. It's not just gaming sites, we've made the mainstream media sit up and take notice. We've helped to raise a shedload of money for an awesome, awesome charity. We've provided a support network, and a shoulder to cry on, for the people, just like us, who felt shattered by how the game ended (I know, I was one of those people). We should all be proud of what we've achieved, with dignity, civility and passion.

Think of what else we can achieve, together. It won't be easy, but nothing worth doing ever is.

I can't give the kind of top-down analysis someone like atg gives, 'cos it's not my field, but what I can do is promise you this: come what may, I will stand side by side with you.

Our choices should matter. And our choices will matter. There's the line, and we all know what to do. :)

Oh someone's getting fired. This is throwing gasoline to the mess of a PR they caused when they released the ending.

I should be in bed, but I'm not, because I'm galvanized to act both by the bad ending and by the home I've found here on the BSN.  But, I'm not doing anything special, and everyone should welcome the new people here with comfort and open arms, and let them know how to get involved.  One more voice may seem small to the outside world, but here it means another set of hands that will hold the line.  We are Retake Mass Effect, and we will win this thing.

lets remember they are human just like us, the community managers didn't make a ****ty ending to mass effect 3, did they?

I am not a forums type of person. I usually go to them if I am stuck on a game
and do not really comment all that much or read that much because I usually
see topics resulting in name calling matches.
After playing ME3 I came here to see if I was the only one that felt the way I did about the ending.

I was shocked when I saw all the posts. I Have been reading as much as I can.
I have found a warm place to go after such a cold ending, and that is due to the people on this board

I just wanted you to know that no matter what the outcome is.
I have found solace here.
All of you have taken a bad ending and turned it into a beautiful beginning
You should be proud of what you have accomplished
Thank you all

Hold The Line

Thank you for that from an old gamer.  I think that is something folks here should see after a long weekend on the front.

Grab a chair and be welcome!

To everyone who is supporting the Retake movement through collaborating and joining together in this thread and in others:

I have followed the Retake movement silently since its inception - even before I experienced the endings myself - and continue to follow it attentively as we approach the end of the second week of Mass Effect 3's life. In two short weeks (possibly a shorter time than that for certain points), you all have collected almost 54,000 votes on the forum poll asking for the ending to be changed, over 40,000 separate likes on the RetakeMassEffect facebook page, and gathered over $65,500 for the Child's Play charity as a way to make your voices heard. Countless reviews of both the game, the ending, and the ending's reception exist throughout the internet in several different languages, and every one of those reviews, be they positive, negative, neutral, or undecided, direct countless eyes toward the participants and cause more and more people to ask the key question of "Why?". Organizations based in both gaming, finance, and the coverage of both see the Retake movement coming to the forefront of internet discussions, and even entire countries feel the effects of the Retake movement in both financial and emotional terms.

Don't think for a moment none of you are making a difference. In less than two weeks, this is what you all have accomplished. And this is only the beginning.

Yes, things may last for a while. A few more weeks, possibly a month or two, may pass before something concrete emerges and peace of mind is acchieved.

However, if the collective voice of the movement can accomplish so much in less than two weeks, how much more can we do in a month or two?

Don't forget that we all define where the line is drawn... and the line can keep moving forward.

And together, we can hold the line.

Bioware just seriously put themselves on the defensive.   They can say its a miscommunication, but at this moment in time when words are everything and are being scrutinized, they can't afford to make missteps like this.

Chalk this up as a win for the movement.

I just got a response on twitter that confirms that Bioware has not made a decision at all. I know it's kind of redundant, but it's still a more neutral position than "We are not changing the ending."
