Greetings, folks! I have been a silent partner in the crusade to Take Back Mass Effect since I first heard of the furor about the endings. I joined the DemandABetterEnding facebook group almost immediately, and I have donated to the Child's Play charity. I plan to donate again soon, this time a more substantial amount (I have decided it shall be my official charity of the month).

I have not posted here before because I had some issues trying to access an account here that was linked to my PS3 ID. Now that has been straightened out, and I shan't remain silent.

ATGHunter, thank you for your words of clarity, and for your encouragement for all sides of this issue to speak their minds with passion and civility. You have acted as a navigator in these stormy waters, helping to guide us away from the shoals so we did not run aground. I constantly tune in to this thread to see your advice and your perspective, so I hope you will not stop offering them.

To everyone else, thank you for your words of encouragement, your amusing anecdotes, your links to news stories, and everything else that *should* have been coming from the major gaming news sites... but was completely absent. It's wonderful how you as a community have been able to step in and supplement, or even supplant, the broken system of information distribution that I had relied on for years.

Thank you most of all for making me realize I was not alone, not a sole, pouting man-child with no hope that the dreams Mass Effect 1 ignited would ever come to fruition.

I will Hold the Line.

Another voice to add to the chorus!  Thank you for joining us here on the BSN, and though you knew it before, I will reiterate that none of us are alone here.  We have all been through the same ending you have, and we are resolved to do something about it.  We are Retake Mass Effect, and we as a whole are strengthened by the common bonds with our peers.  We'll win this thing and put it right.

You hit all the important places already, so I'll just suggest you head out into the BSN and continue to engage our detractors on all fronts.  Keep it civil, but don't let that civility dull the call.  We want ending DLC and until we get it we will hold the line.

To everyone who is supporting the Retake movement through collaborating and joining together in this thread and in others:

I have followed the Retake movement silently since its inception - even before I experienced the endings myself - and continue to follow it attentively as we approach the end of the second week of Mass Effect 3's life. In two short weeks (possibly a shorter time than that for certain points), you all have collected almost 54,000 votes on the forum poll asking for the ending to be changed, over 40,000 separate likes on the RetakeMassEffect facebook page, and gathered over $65,500 for the Child's Play charity as a way to make your voices heard. Countless reviews of both the game, the ending, and the ending's reception exist throughout the internet in several different languages, and every one of those reviews, be they positive, negative, neutral, or undecided, direct countless eyes toward the participants and cause more and more people to ask the key question of "Why?". Organizations based in both gaming, finance, and the coverage of both see the Retake movement coming to the forefront of internet discussions, and even entire countries feel the effects of the Retake movement in both financial and emotional terms.

Don't think for a moment none of you are making a difference. In less than two weeks, this is what you all have accomplished. And this is only the beginning.

Yes, things may last for a while. A few more weeks, possibly a month or two, may pass before something concrete emerges and peace of mind is acchieved.

However, if the collective voice of the movement can accomplish so much in less than two weeks, how much more can we do in a month or two?

Don't forget that we all define where the line is drawn... and the line can keep moving forward.

And together, we can hold the line.

Brilliantly put.

This movement itself has given me hope to keep putting out my voice and add to it. I love this series far too much to let it just crumble like this.

WE are close to TRIUMPH!
BioWare is not stupid. They know that they made a mistake.
We need to believe in them to make that mistake right again,
almost as much as we believe in our own cause!

STAY IN FORMATION!
HOLD THE LINE!

Thanks wheelier! It may not look like much, but @MassEffect's reply committed them to a course of action; even if it is a "wait and see" policy, wait and see now entails "collecting data." I don't know what that dataset looks like, but it's something more than nothing.

TO BIOWARE:

Bring in the original lead writer back on the project.
If he cares anything about Mass Effect as we do,
he will know how to give Shepard and the Galaxy a fitting end.

This is the first time I've written on a forum, another newbie I guess, but it's just that after finishing ME3 I felt, I dunno, kind of lost maybe. I joined the DemandABetterEnding on facebook, and then I found this place, I don't know how much of a difference we'll make in the end, but right now feel like something is being done, and that's just enough for me to keep holding the line!! Thank you all!!

Good morning everyone. Five hours of sleep, and 30 more pages of posts. It would seem the line is not only being held, but advanced.

Bioware just seriously put themselves on the defensive.   They can say its a miscommunication, but at this moment in time when words are everything and are being scrutinized, they can't afford to make missteps like this.

Chalk this up as a win for the movement.

This is good! We are making a difference and I know we will continue to do so!

I think we should all remember one thing though: WE AREN'T ALONE! There are tons of people out there who don't know that we're becoming an organized movement, but they're moving alongside us. There are people out there helping us without knowing it. Even if they don't see this, I want to thank them. Even more so the ones that are not only moving alongside us, but doing so in a a polite and reverent manner that makes all of us better in the eyes of neutrals, no matter where we are from.

Thank you to all who are out there holding the line!

anyone else think the most effective damage control tactic would be to tell the customers what they want to hear? Tell them they'll begin working on an ending DLC or that they're already planning a real ending or something.

Here's a little thought that I think gets lost in the shuffle during all of this line holding we're doing here.

Bioware themselves deserve ME3 to have a better ending, not just us. We know they're capable of great storytelling, and tying the player to the characters in their universe. I don't want them, or the Mass Effect series, to go down like this. They deserve better, and I hope they realize this.

because egos are involved and a lot of money is involved they weren't planning to spend, corporations are big lumbering things, they come about slowly.

That could turn into a flat out lie though. The best line of action for them is to say they are listening and mulling things over. That way, they look good for listening to us while not committing to anything.

This is just what they are doing. They are listening to us. Whether or not they're in a decision phase is hard for me to tell though.

We have no plans
We are listening.

Dear Bioware:

Saying you are listening to customer feedback commits to nothing and means nothing; we know this.
Deleting a negative PR post doesn't commit you to positive action.
We are not unaware of the tactics being used here.
We aren't going anywhere.

Signed: 97% of your customers
