To everyone who is supporting the Retake movement through collaborating and joining together in this thread and in others:

I have followed the Retake movement silently since its inception - even before I experienced the endings myself - and continue to follow it attentively as we approach the end of the second week of Mass Effect 3's life. In two short weeks (possibly a shorter time than that for certain points), you all have collected almost 54,000 votes on the forum poll asking for the ending to be changed, over 40,000 separate likes on the RetakeMassEffect facebook page, and gathered over $65,500 for the Child's Play charity as a way to make your voices heard. Countless reviews of both the game, the ending, and the ending's reception exist throughout the internet in several different languages, and every one of those reviews, be they positive, negative, neutral, or undecided, direct countless eyes toward the participants and cause more and more people to ask the key question of "Why?". Organizations based in both gaming, finance, and the coverage of both see the Retake movement coming to the forefront of internet discussions, and even entire countries feel the effects of the Retake movement in both financial and emotional terms.

Don't think for a moment none of you are making a difference. In less than two weeks, this is what you all have accomplished. And this is only the beginning.

Yes, things may last for a while. A few more weeks, possibly a month or two, may pass before something concrete emerges and peace of mind is acchieved.

However, if the collective voice of the movement can accomplish so much in less than two weeks, how much more can we do in a month or two?

Don't forget that we all define where the line is drawn... and the line can keep moving forward.

And together, we can hold the line.

Brilliantly put.

This movement itself has given me hope to keep putting out my voice and add to it. I love this series far too much to let it just crumble like this.

Couldn't put it any better. Thanks DerekDraygon777 for such an encouraging post. Save Commander Shepard, Save the Galaxy and hold the line.

For now though - I'll be in my bunk.

The day this movement ends will be a happy day - whether we win or lose, we will know that we've made a huge difference. We're making an entire corporation falter, stop, look and listen to us.

We will be able to say we held the line!

Dear Bioware:

Saying you are listening to customer feedback commits to nothing and means nothing; we know this.
Deleting a negative PR post doesn't commit you to positive action.
We are not unaware of the tactics being used here.
We aren't going anywhere.

Signed: 97% of your customers

Hold the line.

Exactly! If this thread proves anything, it's that we are VERY aware of the tactics being used against us. Here for the long haul! Hold the line!

This guy really gives an excellent idea on how to fix the ending.

IF the ending was something like what he suggests my god the ME series would be the best game series i would have ever played. Overtaking FF6 and Suikoden 2 on my all time RPG list.

holy crap..that ending would have been epic!

Yup, that's right: Holding the Line as soon as I wake up.

Now that I've done that responsibility, let's get some coffee.

However insignificant we are, we will fight, we will sacrifice, and we will find a way -

We will hold the line.

Hey guys,
I've been watching the movement ever since finishing the game. I've donated to Child's Play and I'm considering doing so again. I loved the Marauder Shields thing that came out of this. It's been amazing to see so many fans unite to defend the franchise we love, and for so many people to give their own perspectives and insights into what BioWare's doing. I admit I was very pessimistic at first regarding it but seeing the movement coalesce like this in addition to the latest PR slip up has brought me some hope. Every time I think of Shepard and Liara being denied their little blue children it tears me up. I fell in love with the franchise since the first game, especially the characters. I held hope all these years that after finishing the fight Shepard would finally get some happiness and peace, and having that dashed away has both angered and greatly saddened me. My faith in BioWare has been utterly shaken, and it's going to take a lot for them to win it back. But thanks to all you guys have said and done, I do believe that if nothing else, we are making a mark and being heard. Make Kirrahe proud. Make Marauder Shields proud. Make Anderson proud. Make your love interests proud. Make Shepard proud. They're all watching you, because all their fates now rest in your hands.

Hold the Line.

This thread is really bringing some knowledge and actual organization, without the need of hierarchy to a movement that really needed it. We could say it's what's holding us together right now.

atg's advice has actually convinced to finally officially join the movement.

Though I had already donated $20 to the Child's Play charity drive.

This recent slip up on facebook and twitter seems to have stoked the fire of our movement, but we need to be disciplined, and mindful. We do not hold the cards we need until we can prove that we can be relentless about this for as long as needed.

So, I say this to you people.

Hold the line!

(BTW, I'm an 80's dork)

Can we, somehow, change the name of the thread? Something to get people who otherwise would just complain about the endings to read this. Not something too flashy, of course, but like a rally calling.

Something very heavy-handed and almost poster-recruitment-like, which can also be distributed to places other than this forums, in tandem (but not necessarily in conjunction, and more about this in a moment) with the child's play movement in the news and google searches.

Could be like "Charge the Line", "Choose your Ending" thread. Something in this sense, I just want to get the idea rolling. The objective is to get people more easily involved in this, to make these actions we are organizing their vent mechanisms instead of just ranting in the forums. Let's make it easy for people to take our message out - and let that be our rant.

Also, of course, a standardized message would not be a bad idea for social networking sites, something we should each post every week - because spamming our friends meaninglessly is not something we want to do.

Now, why I don't even want the message in this thread to be in conjunction with the child play one. I think the child play movement was a great ****ing idea, tbh. And as such, if this movement somehow backfires and gets bad press/rep, like it gets derailed or successfully countered, I DO NOT want the children to stop getting money for their needs, goddamnit. So, this being a distinct, separate movement from that one would be safer for the kids - just imagine the damage it would do to their campaign if a stray rant (very profanity-laden one) got nitpicked by the press if we were associated.

But of course it is just my suggestion. This is a tactic I'd pursue. Protect the kids, while also giving us more flexibility to demand and be a little more assertive in our statements.

So, what do you guys think?

So just a quick post to add my voice to the crowd before I go to bed.

Mass Effect has been called by some to be the "Star Wars" of video games. It's first truly epic trilogy. Many games have tried this over the past decade or so, but none have succeeded until now.

Look at the ending of Star Wars (ignoring the prequels). Did it have a super emo ending? No, it didn't. It had a happy sunshine ending, because thats what people want in these sort of situtations.

But oh look, video games can have multiple endings! yay! So you can have both. Keep your stupid emo ending, but make a good ending for those of us who worked hard for it. I had over 6100 in EMS at the end, for what?

Disappointment, that's what.

I actually think the PR title works best.

It calls attention to what we as a movement really should be looking at most closely. EA and Bioware's PR stunts (AKA. Their bull**** tactics.)

I think it's important that we as a movement stay focused on those so that we can be aware of this movement's progress.

I'd disagree with any changes that do not include PR on the title.

Hold the line, people.

Don't let the facebook post shake your faith. That's exactly what they want it to do. If it shakes your faith and you give up - that's one less voice decrying the endings. If it shakes your faith and you get angry - that's one more voice added to the 'angry mob/easy to call a minority' pile.

Stay civil, stay motivated, keep each other's spirits up. Hold the line. The probability that this would take a relatively long time to get a result was always quite high.

Hold the line! :)

Edit: it's also worth pointing out that with that facebook post going up and then being taken down, they win on both fronts. Because the BSN doesn't miss a beat, the people who are posting here are going to be made aware of it, leading to the aforementioned 'losing faith' and because they've taken it down within a very short time span, the public at large aren't going to see those comments attached to a Mass Effect facebook post.

Don't let it get to you! Keep doin' what you're doin'! Play the long game!

Haven't gotten any further ahead than this post on the FB deal, but the this poster is dead on!  Someone who had no authority and honestly probably doesn't even know if the answer they posted is accurate just 1)  made a silly mistake or 2) the PR guys did a litmus test and found the environment very "attentive".

As opposed to loosing any heart, do the opposite.  The fact it disappeared so quickly tells everyone that right now there are EA PR guys watching this whole thing like hawks.  Shaking the tree around here is probably the last thing they want to do.

Stay civil, stay positive, and keep using your voices!
