I'll start by apologizing for any spelling or typing misstakes i've made here. I am a bad typer and an even worse spell-checker. But hopefully you will understand the post anyway.
I don't write much in the other threads about these subjects any more, nor in this one for
that matter. Mostly because they keep moving too fast to even keep
up. And secondly because everything I want to say is being said by
other in a a better than I ever I could. But this thread is really
really great. I love the initiative and thank you OP for keeping that
post updated. Makes me be able to actually follow this whole
spectacle without having to read 100 + pages a day just to maybe have
a chance to keep up with all of this.
I am one of the loyal loving Bioware fans that got so surprised at her
own reaction to the whole ending. I have never felt so betrayed, so
lost for words or thought. I was utterly heartbroken and I felt silly
for caring so much. Thanks to these forums I realised I was not
alone. I am terrified of ever buying a Bioware game if this is what
it will do to me in the end. The whole feeling that a game can make
me feel this bad is too much for me to handle. I also want to chip in
that I love Mass Effect. I love the universe, the characters and the
story. Sure there are things I don't really understand or like, but
overall my experience with the ME series is fantastic. I have never
looked forward to a game as much as I did Mass Effect 3. And I looked
forwards to many games in my time. World of Warcraft being one of
them, and SWTOR being another. I was basically bouncing in my chair
the last months before the release living on BSN which I had never
even visited before that.
But the way they handled this whole fiasco of an ending is just below all
expectation. I don't understand how all these statements of the game
could be so much further from the truth. The outright lies we got
thrown in our faces. '
Quoting Casey Hudson:
”
As Mass Effect 3 is the end of the planned trilogy, the developers are
not constrained by the necessity of allowing the story to diverge,
yet also continue into the next chapter. This will result in a story
that diverges into wildly different conclusions based on the player's
actions in the first two chapters” Did I play a different Mass Effect 3 than Casey did? Because this is not
at all how I perceived the ending.
Mike Gamble:
”
We wouldn't do it any other way. How could you go through all three
campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be
forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets?
But I can't say any more than that...””
Whether you're happy or angry at the ending, know this: it is an ending.
Bioware will not do a ”Lost” and leave fans with more questions
than answers after finishing the game.”Sure I admit, I'm not a native English speaker. So maybe these statements
mean something different from how I interpret them. But I sure as
h*ll have a helluva lot more questions now than I did before I
finished ME3.
There are so many more quotes I just cba to bring up here. But I just
wanted to pitch in a bit and just say that I will, as many others
here, keep Holding the Line. Mass Effect deserves so much better than
this. We deserve so much better than this.
