It's not really true it's of little gain. The FTC actually has the power to fine companies, something we as consumers don't have. And companies are a lot more likely to change behavior if there is a high enough risk of a hurt to profits/money. Now in the current state of the internet consumers have a lot more power to organize mass boycots and what not that can affect sales giving more power than we had before but at this point, FTC investigations are more proven in amended behavior. To me the FTC complaint is less about the Mass Effect ending and more about the fact that a lot of games have come out over the last few years lacking features that were specifically mentioned in interviews and promotions, and regulation from an FTC type organization is the only thing that's really going to result in a mass change in that.

We need to focus on one thing at a time. First, we get our endings. We can worry about that later. Bioware is too strong to try and divide and conquer.

And if we get our endings who will come back? Most people will just be happy they got improved endings, download the new ones and go on about playing. And EA/Take-Two/Activision etc will just continue the same business practices.

Video games are not just "art" they are also sport. In sport you compete against something. The computer if not another player in this context.  Moreover they use the same concepts as sport which is repeating actions give a reward of some sort(you get the ball, points on the board, crowd cheers and/or boos etc...). Video games are an item that we purchase, a product. As a consumer buying a product I have the right to receive what I pay for based on how it's represented by the manufacturer (advertisement, etc.) and being free of manufacturing defects. As far as video games being art...you could say that housing contracters are artists as well, in that they also create (an interpretation of their vision). They "advertise" that house and make claims as to everything it comes with and can do. If that house fails to meet any of those claims through misrepresentation or manufacturing defects, you have the right to challenge it...but nobody will tell you that you're incorrectly acting entitled because this house is art. Point is, anything that could be considered art or artistic expression becomes a product once it is sold, and as a product is subject to customer approval.

I agree with you I was trying to point out that hiding behind the "art" argument is wrong. Even if video games are "art" they are not just art meaning they can't be held to the same standards as art. Even most professional art is commission based with most of the pay coming at successful completion of the art itself.

i finished it today, gotta say......i feel so used, dont know why, feel like just wasted 5 years, countless money, countless hours...immersing myself into a great story and game just to have it taken away and have an ending thats irrelvant, unbalanced and forced. This was an illusion, it wasnt my story at all. my choices did not matter, we all got the A,B,C endings regardless. at least let me and my LI retire back at my home base which we got as part of DLC for mass effect !

We can worry about that later. This movement has one agenda: The endings. Not bringing the companies to justice over their lies. You can't hijack the movement for your own agenda.

We can't change that.

And while some media have used this to try to paint us a bad rep the truth of the matter is this.
For every comment that's against us, there are three that defend us. The majority aren't satisfied with the ending and most of them, if not all, agree with what we're trying to do.

One of the large strenghts we have in this is something Mass Effect, heck Bioware, has teached us. If we stand together against a common cause, we can be one strong wall regardless of how different we are.

So don't worry, we're not planning on giving this up anytime soon.
I sure ain't.

The more I read about the ending(s) the more dissappointed and frustrated I become. I will not back down, I will hold the line.

Did anyone actually see the theory of mine I posted a few pages back? Or does nobody really care? It's fine if you don't as it's a bit out there to some people but if it is a case of people missed it I'd like it of anyone can see this as a possibility like I can.

The fan who filed a complaint with the FTC had every right to do so. Its rude to say that the guy is idiotic because he felt the best way for his voice to be heard was to file an online complaint with the FTC. He brought a great deal of negative PR on us. He might have had good intentions, but the fact he did this action while identifying with us selfish. This movement has been to try and get Bioware to cooperate, not force them into this ending.

Go to the Retake Facebook page and read his message. He makes it clear he did this for us. He shouldn't have.

  Sorry but your wrong. even before his complaint, in fact as Soon as the charity was announced the major sites IGN etc already were spouting that we were self-entitled whiners.
   If you do something good the sites somewhat aligned with bioware (who they get free games review and a occasional inside scoup from) will blast us.
   Doing nothings remaining silent , not fighting for our rights just makes us sheeple and plays right into Biowares plan. Its easy to forget and bury the quite and the meek. Sad as it maybe the truth is the squeeky wheel gets the oil
   If you want to go into a fight blind folded and with one arm tied behind your back to be nice and seem less threatening to the viewer you can, but chances are you will lose. (sure maybe a few more viewers will feel sorry for you but you will lose all the same.
