I'll admit that I posted on the feedback thread. But I don;t have much hope that they'll actually do anything. They're hoping this will blow over. And even if it doesn't, Ea might just decide it's already a lost cause and just kill future plans for the game rather than throwing good money after bad.

EA needs to believe that if they fix the game, that the payoff will be totally (and financially) worth it to them.

It would not surprise me if this was their plan all along, but regardless the current ending needs to be changed. I will not participate in the Operation: Goliath. I will Hold the Line! :)

What gets to me is how some can claim that it's the complaints of a minority. The somewhat official poll is at 53.000 right now and climbing.

At which point does the "It's just a minority"-claim get invalidated? After everyone who bought the game voted?

They have to use the minority card in order to keep things quiet. Do you think they would say majority of the fans hates the endings in the first two weeks of the games release ?

Even if they were on our side, they wouldn't shoot their business in the leg ( although they kinda accomplished that with the ending )....

As said, it is a smart way to keep ''potential customers'' from being scared and skip their potential purchase. It is a cheap trick but PR tactics know no limits if it will get them profits or recover the damage.

In this case though, this might be their mistake in the end. If this ''minority'' as we are called, achieve what we want, that this will show ''minority'' can change thing with proper tactics and legit arguements , unlike in the past where your worries are disregarded no matter what.

Random thought. After the backlash with the inconsistencies from the last Mass Effect book, they didn't expect to have this kind of reaction to the game?

Anyways, thanks for the thoughts and insight. Definitely some real good food for thought.

I've never spent so much time on a forum after a game i was heavily anticipating came out.

THe outcry will die down, but by that time, people will be done buying their games. I know if it is not fixed at all I will be avoiding BioWare and EA like the plague. I REALLY WANT TO SUPPORT THEM,but this isn't something you do to people who support you. Its something you do when you know you have made a bad decision and choose to stck to your guns out of spite as opposed to listening to the fans. It doesn't matter if we are 100% wrong about this. DLC if launched means we have an incomplete game. They can site hackers all they want. I didn't hack into the place. Why should I be punished. The endings suck. Enough is enough.

Well 50k in a forum poll is insane. I don't think I've ever seen a forum poll that large in relation to a game. In fact in other games there have been polls with far less people that have seen devs change content as a result (back in the days of simply patching, not dlc). If bioware ignore that and pass it off as a minority then they are fools. 50k is staggering.

I would like to personally thank atghunter for his continued support-by-analysis. You're proving yourself an invaluable asset to our cause, and I doubt that we would be anywhere near the same footing as we are without your input. I have personally benefited from your presented knowledge, and I will do my best to be a fraction of as useful as you have been.

I salute you, sir. o7

Well, I tried voting in the poll again and hurried back to see if the number changed. And it did. But by more than one. So either a second vote counts besides the others that ticked in, or it simply didn't.

It did, however, show up again in my recent activity log.

Ah, then that is more problematic. It still doesn't look good, however, and so it is still likely troublesome for Bioware.

I agree the outcry will die down, but that will be EA / Bioware's loss because they will have lost their core customer support.  The people who recommend their games to other people.

Well, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to interpret it either. But even with half of the "NAY"-sayers invalidated, the odds are still massively in their... uhh, our favor.

Texas night shift checking in. Saw the post http://social.biowar.../index/10089946

The entire thing was pure fluff about the positive feedback (I find it ironic they mention Penny Arcade - considering Tycho Brahe's most recent posts on the subject in their entirety) and did it's best (using very polite language) to minimize the number of people outraged over the ending.

The current official statement contains no content, no solid answers, promises or replies to the outcries. Yet again, more "oh, we're listening to your constructive feedback" lines without giving us any evidence that they're actually listening or planning to do anything about it. WHAT MORE do they want that we haven't said a thousand times over? It's absolutely, purposefully vague and persists in trying to squeeze in the "art" argument. "Art" --does not make you free pass from critique--.

Why aren't their choices? Have your artsy ending - but give us satisfying ones too! DA:O had tons of options for your endings, that everyone could then sit around debating about which one was the best. WHY are there no options for ME3?!

Likewise, bittersweet does not excuse the lack of choices, lack of sense, lack of content in the endings.

As many, many people have said, the game was -already- bittersweet. I cried as I wished some of my favorite characters goodbye - Mordin and Thane. The sweetness came from the hope both we and Shepard had, that their sacrifice would not be in vain and that we might yet beat the reapers. It would have been a bittersweet victory -just based- on all those sacrifices, the numerous deaths of many, many soldiers in the battles.

This ending was not bitter or sweet - it was just empty. Insulting to the game, and to my intelligence.

HOLD THE LINE.

You guys forget though, EA's PR is not typical PR.

They are alien to us, as much as they are evil.

Operation Goliath is a ploy, it is a distraction so they can use user data to justify the integration of MP into the franchise.

This was a real good read and very insightful on the workings of a PR Dept. Hopefully the true fans will see the obvious rouse and continue to hold the line, because I know I plan to.
