Amazing how this game franchise bring close people from all generations.

More interesting is, intelligent and educated beings, that knows a bit about storytelling, and don't enjoy being fooled by broken promises.

Thank you all!

EDIT: almost forgot: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I have to say that the evisceration of the most epic trilogy ever has had the positive consequence of bringing all of us together in the true spirit of Mass Effect. All colors, creeds, races all fighting a common enemy - the rEApers.

Our choices should matter. Hold the line. Give us what we were promised.

Happy Birthday.

Yeah i have not seen anything like this since Doctor Who fandom spent ten years pushing for the BBC to bring that show back.  That is how I know that if we don't start fighting eachother and don't give up no matter how long it takes we will win this fight too.

Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

these numbers are LESS than you think, below is the total numbers of accumulated over various "retake mass effect" websites that have popped up and actually made news

*over 120,000 Facebook Likes (covering 10+ facebook pages)
*over $100,000 donated to charity (covering other charitys from other places around the world)
*A 2-Star Amazon Rating (check other amazon websites around the world, its got zero star ratings in some countries because of the cause)
*A 4.9 Metacritic User Rating  (its dropping again)
*Over 15 positive bent news stories about us  (check some of the bigger news outlets like CNN, BBC, ABC, FOX and all there affiliates)

BUT theres one other outlet you forgot
*700+ YOUTUBE reviews that are gaining news on there own about this debacle about the endings

now EA shipped out 3.5 MILLION copies of ME3 in various flavours (basic and collector and digital) and they have SOLD 2.6 MILLION and within a week 2/3rd's finished the ame in a WEEK.

now it was released in the usa on the 6th and the 9th in the uk and most of the EU and the 12th for the rest of the world, add 7 days that takes us to the 19th which was monday, it takes a WEEK to finish ME3 to the max and cover EVERY side mission, main plot and multiplayer so THIS week BIOWARE and EA should be publishing a press release at some point concerning this nightmare.

mass effect 3 WAS the biggest game release of the year so far, massive marketing blitz on everything from racio, movies, tv and the papers, at the start they recived GREAT reviews, but we found out SOME things and these are the following

1)- the reviewers were sent unfinished games so they never saw the endings
2)- reviewers who give bad reviews ALWAYS gets put on the EA blacklist which means...no more EA games
3)- website reviews were based on magazine reviews (or in some cases a work for work copy)
4)- EA staff being caught on wiki deleting the bad ending critisisim on the mass effect 3 page and the EA ip addesses are now blocked from accessing wikipedia
5)- the "gasp of breath" scene has been confirmed on wikipedia to be shepard so were being lied to by some EA/bioware staff

i could go on but KEEP UP THE FIGHT AND HOLD THE LINE

Sending Back N7 Patches Update:

I've been PMing with UniqueName001 who put up the lovely "Retake Mass Effect - Petition and Child's Play Donation" thread. They've very kindly passed along this whole idea to the mind/admin behind the RetakeME3 FB page - given apparent communication problems going on (something with FB botching up the messages over there) we're hoping that something can be worked out soon or next week.

People are certainly free to send in letters/patches anytime they like, but I think it may well be worth it to lend a touch of determined patience here and see if we can't organize something of greater quality/quantity/cohesion. :) Keep up updates as they come!

Also the Child's Play drive is at 68k+ -- WOW guys. Just... WOW. It's so awesome to see that number continue to climb.

One of the mantras of this movement is "Choices Matter".

We all pick our battles. Some things are closer to our hearts than others, and we take a stand.

We weigh other issues and choose not to fight because we feel it's not worth our time.

BioWare's response, a REAL response, one way or the other, is the goal. Then we can determine if our continued relationship with their games is worth our time and/or money.

Keep in mind: I believe, like some others, that the delay in the game was to put in the multiplayer modules. They are banking on a lot of future revenue through micro transactions (packs), and this would most likely have been in the business plan for BioWare and ME3 specifically. Nothing will hurt them more than the realization that the goals they promised shareholders for multiplayer won't be met, their projections on the amount of time spent on Origin were way overstated, and that these shortfalls in what they promised their shareholders, loan officers, and potential investors was their own fault for not listening to a large section of their gamer base and acting on these issues.

Seems to me that we can get a lot of entertainment staying the course just to see if they are willing to shoot themselves in their own revenue accounts just to be stubborn. I wonder what it's like walking around the hallways of BioWare Edmonton just 2 weeks after release.

I always look forward to reading your posts, atghunter. I'd love your insight into today's events regarding IGN videos ridiculing the movement, the $20 price reduction today on the game, the story making to some of the larger news outlets and, of course, Bioware's silence today.

Not much to update, but I'll take a stab at the few things I've noticed going through the thread since this morning.

1) price drop/sale/etc.  It certainly could be a planned sale as was mentioned, but as I've said before when you are reading tea leaves without hard sales data, hefty price drops are generally considered illogical for a product moving well.  Watch other markets this week to see if it sets a downward trend.

2) The article Syrellaris mentioned about endings.  I agree with the majority that Mr. Hudson's quote was probably taken out of context and derived from the "you've not seen the last of Shepard" quote last week.  Until you get an actual quote from a confirmed source and not a paraphrase, Bioware/EA won't own it.

3)  IGN.  Easy one.  Re-upping countermeasures as we discussed on Sunday.  I've said it all along, some people legitimately like/love the endings and I admire them for speaking up just as I admire folks speaking out their disapproval.  The IGN stuff seems mostly uncivil, mean-spirited, firebombing and should be ignored.  I suspect most everyone else is as well.  If you decide to post comments (I'm not bothering since they have no interest in dialogue with those kind of articles), please remain civil.

4)  Patches/copies of patches.  Whoever suggested that is a genius.  Finding something people can send in (even if it is only a photocopy) lets Bioware/EA know you are still unhappy and just as important capable of sending a unified message.  Simple gestures like this are very successful at making a point.  Don't worry about sending them all in at once.  A river filling up your inbox is just as bad as a tidal wave (in fact sometimes worse).

Want to know what's more frightening than a 40,000-headed hydra?  A 40, 000-headed tying on 40,000 bibs for dinner all at once.

5)  No new info from Bioware.  They are digesting the weekend data and crunching scenarios.  Don't make much of this.

6)  Press.  Easy.  They don't want this press.  Big market, little market, doesn't matter.  I've heard people discussing that any coverage is good coverage.  Not at all.  A bit of controversy can do wonders (see any media analysis of The Last Temptation of Christ as an example).  But people saying your product is simply defective/flawed/broken/dissatisfactory will not bring customers scurrying to the store.

As empirical evidence that there is at least some level of negative press concern in the EA/Bioware bunker, look at the virtual carpet bombing ad buys since Friday.  While channel surfing on Saturday I saw ME3 commercials on Comedy Central, ESPN, and Sci-Fi all within the span of 1 hour.  That's the kind of media blitz you do before you release a product, not a week and a half later.

Hope that covers everything!

Stay well, stay civil and use your voices no matter what side you take!

Off to start answering e-mails for a bit!

Okay thanks.  Glad to see someone saw my idea.  Please when you hear something could you Pm me with the details when they figure them out on the FB page?

People who i talked to here please hold off and go with the face book date so they we send the most at once and remember to write the words "We will hold" on the badges so that Bioware will get a message and not be able to resell them.  Thanks for staying with us people.

The one thing I'm mostly frustrated about is this: I've been nagging my friends / family and co-workers for months and asked my boss months in advance for a week off from work and social obligations. Tomorrow that embargo ends and its back to business. And the first thing they will ask is: How was it?

How am I going to explain people that dont play Mass Effect or worse, are not gamers, that my heart is crushed and I'm in shock? For a game. They will never understand and call me loony, geek and sociall challenged that "needs to get out more". Now I could live with the fact that Bioware dropped the ball with the ending. But not with having to lie against my friends and family just to avoid a scene.

Its like that really ugly painting you got for your birthday and have to put up a pretend face that says "Ooooh thank you. Just what I wanted!". And thats not all. Everytime they visit, It has to be hanging on the wall for all to see. Blegh... :?

Edit: And Happy Birthdah from the Netherlands, Razorsteel :wizard:

I realize they will always slander us. But when they slandered the charity movement, most of the people broke through the propaganda and realized we donate alot of money to children.

But when they slandered the FTC incident, the people thought that we were just whiny fanboys. They would have to have a deep understanding for what happened for them to ever have a positive or even neutral opinion of it. Most of them won't, I can guarantee it.

We have to make Bioware WORK to make us look bad. If we just do stupid and easily twisted things like the FTC incident, they will fool the public. We need the public.

I completely understand why you'd be upset about the FTC thing, but man, you need to let it go for now.  By constantly bringing it up like you are, it's going to start to derail the thread.  What I would suggest, since it clearly means a lot to you, would be seeing if you can get Bachuck make a mention of it in the OP.  That way new people coming to the thread will get the right idea, as well as people just looking for quick updates, and we can continue on being more constructive.

Also, I think the N7 Patch idea is great.

This.  Carnage needs to let it go.  My point that I was trying to make is that the only thing he was doing was empowering by bringing it up like he did.

Also I like the idea of mailing back the N7 patch.  Probably the only use for it that I can think of.  When I got it I thought to msyelf "what do I have that I could stick that to and not feel silly".

Fine. But I'm not letting this go. If people start making FTC complaints and linking it to us, I will do something about it.

Yes, you will. You will calm down, and discuss it in a civil manner, please. If your complaint is about rash lone gunner decisions, then don't do them yourself. Come around and discuss it with us. I don't mean this as an admonishment, not even a warning, just a reinforcement of the whole idea about the movement - keeping it civil and thoughful and everyone acting as a community.

The FTC was within his rights, unless someone changes the laws. So, letting it go is really the only thing to do if you do not agree with it.

and hold the line :D
