I always look forward to reading your posts, atghunter. I'd love your insight into today's events regarding IGN videos ridiculing the movement, the $20 price reduction today on the game, the story making to some of the larger news outlets and, of course, Bioware's silence today.

Not much to update, but I'll take a stab at the few things I've noticed going through the thread since this morning.
<<<cut much of the post to save space>>>
Off to start answering e-mails for a bit!

Thank you very much for the response.  You have a very calming effect.

Where's the update? I just went through over 6 pages of arguments form 5 to 3 hours ago but their was nothing new in them!

Where is it? What page is it on!? Why can't it just be on the front page in an edit!!? What got updated!!!?

This update is less clear than biowares stance on ending DLC.

@atghunter

Nice to see you around again :). Wanted to discuss this part a bit though.

As empirical evidence that there is at least some level of negative press concern in the EA/Bioware bunker, look at the virtual carpet bombing ad buys since Friday. While channel surfing on Saturday I saw ME3 commercials on Comedy Central, ESPN, and Sci-Fi all within the span of 1 hour. That's the kind of media blitz you do before you release a product, not a week and a half later.

I believe this is EA's tactic, aswell as that of Activision / Blizzard regarding advertisement. Mind you those are the only two large publishers I've seen doing it. Specially on Discovery Channel, Comedy Central and a few regional Television channels (We dont have Sci-fi channel ((bastards!)) or ESPN here)

Altough they are not really big on showing game commercials here anyway. Microsoft and Sony sometimes pop in and Nintendo once in a while, but they mostly die out quickly.

It could be very well that this differs per country though, I mean I am aware that the US and EU have two different sales / advertisement departments with all these companies.

How is it that every time I check this thread I see words of inspiration from Atg. You sir are to be commended for your thought provoking and intelligent additions to this lively and wonderful community. As I said in my previous post and will say again, as an ex- soldier who often felt alone in a world full of people, and as a fellow Commander Shepard I salute all of you.

Hold the line.

Something I heard once, sums it up for how this old gamer sees it:

If I am well met, it is because I keep good company.

how bizzare i heard that same saying a couple days ago and so true it is

p.s still hearing Duncans voice in my head when reading your posts... am i going crazy? lol

The one thing I'm mostly frustrated about is this: I've been nagging my friends / family and co-workers for months and asked my boss months in advance for a week off from work and social obligations. Tomorrow that embargo ends and its back to business. And the first thing they will ask is: How was it?

How am I going to explain people that dont play Mass Effect or worse, are not gamers, that my heart is crushed and I'm in shock? For a game. They will never understand and call me loony, geek and sociall challenged that "needs to get out more". Now I could live with the fact that Bioware dropped the ball with the ending. But not with having to lie against my friends and family just to avoid a scene.

Its like that really ugly painting you got for your birthday and have to put up a pretend face that says "Ooooh thank you. Just what I wanted!". And thats not all. Everytime they visit, It has to be hanging on the wall for all to see. Blegh... :?

Edit: And Happy Birthdah from the Netherlands, Razorsteel :wizard:

Man, I'm a physician. I changed my shifts so I could play the game, studied hours in advance to have a free week, asked for my girlsfriend's comprehension for being almost absent...

WHAT FOR? For this??? Now I will return to real life, and learned a valuable lesson: changing writers, nonsensical deadline, and greedy corporations CAN ruin a five-year experience.

i would buy at least 2 Hold the Line shirts 1 as a back up as long as it was in Bold Red Writing or something (so it felt like a mass effect kind of message)

@Chmarr,

1)- the reviewers were sent unfinished games so they never saw the endings
2)- reviewers who give bad reviews ALWAYS gets put on the EA blacklist which means...no more EA games
3)- website reviews were based on magazine reviews (or in some cases a work for work copy)
4)- EA staff being caught on wiki deleting the bad ending critisisim on the mass effect 3 page and the EA ip addesses are now blocked from accessing wikipedia
5)- the "gasp of breath" scene has been confirmed on wikipedia to be shepard so were being lied to by some EA/bioware staf

Sources?

Yes I'd quite like to see the evidence for that.

Dunno about whether the IPs were from EA, but I checked the History of the ME3 page and it has indeed been put on lockdown until June for "vandalism."

Do you have Digital Deluxe? You could print out the Normandy Lithograph and send it.

Or even better, look for an N7 patch pic or something similar online and send that in.

There are several ways we can be creative about this.

Don't want to be too spammy, expecting that most people keep taps on the biggests threads here anyway, but incase you haven't taken a look at fb stats for while. Take a peek r3stats.net/graphs.  The facebook curve has actually steepened since sunday.

Good idea. It allows me to send it as an email and a hard copy. Wait where do I find it again?

How about a big bundle of space realism with some space je ne sais quoi? :P
