@Paparob:

Depending on your country of residence, your electronic receipt may have a bar code on it. I got a retail copy, USA. The box has a UPC bar code. If you can find that, you could send them a copy of the bar code only. It identifies the game as legitimate. Not sure if electronic receipts have these bar codes on them, but that might be the best way to let them know you're a legit owner of their product.

Well I can't believe that it's come to this.  I just chatted with Amazon.com [US] and they have authorized the return of one of my ME3: Collector's Editions Posted Image

As a general rule I despise returning things but I honestly and sincerely feel that B/W did not live up to their pre-release promises with the game as shipped.  Seeing as my return rights only last 30 days I guess I need to get a move on.

While I think "return bombing" is worse than what BW has done to us I just wanted to let folks know that if you feel like the victim of "fraud" or at least "deliberately mislead" and you got your game from Amazon.com [US] that you could quite possibly return your copy too.

I feel I've done my civic duty in letting my fellow consumers know about their options ... but why do I feel so bad about it???  Posted Image

As I haven't had the opportunity to do so thus far, I will do so now:

Thank you, atghunter.

For my money (and I always emphasize, literally so!) I've never worked for PR but I have been part of several fan campaigns over the years -- most of which were actually successful. Certainly a lot of that has to do with luck on my part, but I've definitely learned a lot from the experiences.

In the past these campaigns were related to television series and what the movements needed more than anything was someone on the Nielsen research-collecting inside. In the case of something like the Retake Mass Effect movement, what we needed most was someone with PR experience. Absolutely, unequivocally so. And now we have that someone.

You're a hell of a War Asset, sir.

I don't have that, but I do have my product code. Seems a bit impersonal though.

The one thing I'm mostly frustrated about is this: I've been nagging my friends / family and co-workers for months and asked my boss months in advance for a week off from work and social obligations. Tomorrow that embargo ends and its back to business. And the first thing they will ask is: How was it?

How am I going to explain people that dont play Mass Effect or worse, are not gamers, that my heart is crushed and I'm in shock? For a game. They will never understand and call me loony, geek and sociall challenged that "needs to get out more". Now I could live with the fact that Bioware dropped the ball with the ending. But not with having to lie against my friends and family just to avoid a scene.

Its like that really ugly painting you got for your birthday and have to put up a pretend face that says "Ooooh thank you. Just what I wanted!". And thats not all. Everytime they visit, It has to be hanging on the wall for all to see. Blegh... :?

Edit: And Happy Birthdah from the Netherlands, Razorsteel :wizard:

Keep using your voice, tell them you are an unhappy consumer, feeling deflated and let the chips fall where they may knowing all the while inside there are plenty of voices just like yours all over the world right now.  I promise you, if this forum is any indication, you aren't the only one that headed back to work with that feeling you'd been punched in the stomach.

On a hopefully lighter note, if that fails, tell them you bought a toaster that has 16 settings, every one of them burns your toast, and you will not rest until your bread is avenged. :)

Keep well.

Okay thanks.  Glad to see someone saw my idea.  Please when you hear something could you Pm me with the details when they figure them out on the FB page?

People who i talked to here please hold off and go with the face book date so they we send the most at once and remember to write the words "We will hold" on the badges so that Bioware will get a message and not be able to resell them.  Thanks for staying with us people.
Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

If you were the first to start up on this idea, then kudos for you! I only saw someone mention it in a closing line ("Bioware will be getting my N7 Patch in the mail soon") and just immediately thought of how much brilliant potential that has as a grassroots form of civil protest.

I'll definitely keep you updated if I hear anything else. In the meantime I see no harm is people starting off if they want to get a jump start. Like atghunter just posted: A river is as good as an ocean when it comes right down to it. And we can keep working on cooperating with other outlets - like the RetakeME3 FB group and such - to pass the idea on and get as many people as possible on board.

Oh and for those without a N7 Patch to send, someone put this up a few pages back as an alternative to print and send:

The mailing address as put up by Agememnon earlier:
Mailing Address:

EDIT: Just to keep stressing it - though it's been said over and over and most seem to be on board - please, please keep any accompanying letters polite, civil and in the spirit of progress. Don't target individuals. Don't hate. :) The key to this kind of thing is largely letting a simple gesture speak volumes on its own.

If you are sending back the code, include a letter with your feelings on the product. THAT will be personal, no?

Vengeance for the toast!

In all seriousness, I'm fighting for the prospect of a happy ending. I want to see my Shep and Liara riding off into the sunset, because it's something that will never happen in real life, and that's the beauty of a game. It lets you frame that one perfect moment. It gives you the warm fuzzies as you remember that moment.

Our Shephards do things we can't. Extensions of ourselves, played out in BioWare's framework. It's fantasy...it's healthy and fun, and that's why the best games are popular for a decade or more. We all want a proper ending for our avatar, whether good or bad. I'm glad I spoil'd myself with viewing the endings on YouTube. I can't accept any of those endings for my Shepard. None of them fits or really makes sense, story-wise.

It makes me wonder what the PR department's next move will be.

It also makes me wonder why the PR department feels it has to 'defend' what's going on. The marketplace is voting with their dollars, judging from how the prices are already dropping and affecting EA's share price. What the PR department really needs to do is push Finance and Bioware's creative team to do the right thing and put a proper ending on the game.

By proper, I mean in the literary/scriptwriting sense. 'Lots of speculation for everybody!' is a dissatisfying non-ending that provides no closure.
