Okay thanks.  Glad to see someone saw my idea.  Please when you hear something could you Pm me with the details when they figure them out on the FB page?

People who i talked to here please hold off and go with the face book date so they we send the most at once and remember to write the words "We will hold" on the badges so that Bioware will get a message and not be able to resell them.  Thanks for staying with us people.
Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

If you were the first to start up on this idea, then kudos for you! I only saw someone mention it in a closing line ("Bioware will be getting my N7 Patch in the mail soon") and just immediately thought of how much brilliant potential that has as a grassroots form of civil protest.

I'll definitely keep you updated if I hear anything else. In the meantime I see no harm is people starting off if they want to get a jump start. Like atghunter just posted: A river is as good as an ocean when it comes right down to it. And we can keep working on cooperating with other outlets - like the RetakeME3 FB group and such - to pass the idea on and get as many people as possible on board.

Oh and for those without a N7 Patch to send, someone put this up a few pages back as an alternative to print and send:

The mailing address as put up by Agememnon earlier:
Mailing Address:

BioWare Edmonton

EDIT: Just to keep stressing it - though it's been said over and over and most seem to be on board - please, please keep any accompanying letters polite, civil and in the spirit of progress. Don't target individuals. Don't hate. :) The key to this kind of thing is largely letting a simple gesture speak volumes on its own.

Thanks.  yeah i started a thread about it that keeps falling back to page 9 or 10.  Again thanks for keeping me updated.

Would it be over the line to tweet at Casey Hudson the google doc detailing the plot holes in ME3?

Not at all.

It would only be over the line if you wrote something like "**** you, look at this ****" ;)

ALL: I don't think I posted this here yesterday, but apologies if I did. I'm posting it now because I think it ties back to some previous comments about "art" and the poor quality of the ending narrative being considered a defect:

In looking more closely at the content in the core of the story resolution, I think one thing that's problematic is the fact that it becomes very difficult to keep on suspending disbelief. I think that's mainly due to the fact that the narrative becomes a continuous sequence of tired tropes clumsily strung together. The "trope density" is off the charts. A quick (not neccessarily definitive) analysis is below, with each trope linked to a description from tvtropes.com:

[...stuff happens and...]
Shepard is, for the first time, introduced to a Sufficiently Advanced Alien, an Energy Being who, to take A Form You Are Comfortable With appears as an Adorably Precocious Child. This being, an ancient Artificial Intelligence, explains that he has seen so many Robot Wars across the millenia that, in an attempt to resolve the situation, he developed a Reset Button solution. In doing so, however, he has become a Well-Intentioned Extremist who sees the struggle between organics and synthetics as an Order vs Chaos problem in which his role is to restore order. His solution, creation of the Reapers, required him to Jump Off the Slippery Slope and accept that The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized; the most advanced civilzations will be periodically "processed" by this Horde of Alien Locusts to short-circuit the Robot War cycle.

After explaining I Did What I Had To Do (which may qualify as a bizarre twist on the Hannibal Lecture), the being claims (in a lightning-fast E = MC Hammer moment) that Shepard's presence "changes things," and presents him/her with a set of Final Solution choices. Each of these choices casually demands that Shepard cross his/her own Moral Event Horizon by presenting catastrophic variations on an End of the World As We Know It solution initiated via a Big Red Button Self-Destruct Mechanism.

In an act of Heroic Sacrifice, without a word of questioning, objection, or realization that "I Forgot I Could Change the Rules," Shepard selects an option and ends the trilogy with a Dying Moment of Awesome.

Makes that ending less unique that Casey Hudson claims now doesn't it...

Nice to see you around again :). Wanted to discuss this part a bit though.

As empirical evidence that there is at least some level of negative press concern in the EA/Bioware bunker, look at the virtual carpet bombing ad buys since Friday. While channel surfing on Saturday I saw ME3 commercials on Comedy Central, ESPN, and Sci-Fi all within the span of 1 hour. That's the kind of media blitz you do before you release a product, not a week and a half later.

I believe this is EA's tactic, aswell as that of Activision / Blizzard regarding advertisement. Mind you those are the only two large publishers I've seen doing it. Specially on Discovery Channel, Comedy Central and a few regional Television channels (We dont have Sci-fi channel ((bastards!)) or ESPN here)

Altough they are not really big on showing game commercials here anyway. Microsoft and Sony sometimes pop in and Nintendo once in a while, but they mostly die out quickly.

It could be very well that this differs per country though, I mean I am aware that the US and EU have two different sales / advertisement departments with all these companies.

With world-wide releases, etc, I certainly expected to see some continued varied ad market buys (especially during the NCAA Tourney which is a prime demographic).  But the ad buy is wildly up from last week.  Again, we're reading tea leaves, but one of the fundamentals of getting bad press, reviews, etc is to pour on the ad buys.

Be interesting to see what we see through the week.  This kind of a buy is wildly expensive and usually not sustainable.

Just found this, which does paint us in a negative light. Although, it would seem the reviewer hasn't done his homework about the game he's reviewing. Also, the comments are hilarious.

Man, I'm a physician. I changed my shifts so I could play the game, studied hours in advance to have a free week, asked for my girlsfriend's comprehension for being almost absent...

WHAT FOR? For this??? Now I will return to real life, and learned a valuable lesson: changing writers, nonsensical deadline, and greedy corporations CAN ruin a five-year experience.

Anyone got any links to media in other countries that have the game released?

Might be tough without a good translation app, but if you find any links, would be good to see feedback from as many sources as we can find.

Any way we can get all this information (along with an explanation for why we're sending our N7 patches back, of course) added to the original post, at least until the next letter wave is over? Maybe people coming to this thread for the first time would be more likely to see it then.

As a general rule I despise returning things but I honestly and sincerely feel that B/W did not live up to their pre-release promises with the game as shipped.  Seeing as my return rights only last 30 days I guess I need to get a move on.

While I think "return bombing" is worse than what BW has done to us I just wanted to let folks know that if you feel like the victim of "fraud" or at least "deliberately mislead" and you got your game from Amazon.com [US] that you could quite possibly return your copy too.

I feel I've done my civic duty in letting my fellow consumers know about their options ... but why do I feel so bad about it???  Posted Image

I got a refund from Amazon for my copy of Mass Effect 3.  I don't feel bad about it. If they fix the problem, I'll buy it again. If they don't then I'm never going to use it again, I was lied to, and I want my money back. This is the best way to get to them. Money. If everyone who was upset starting returning their games, do you know how fast we would get a reaction?

Hold the line.

Wight7:07 PM on March 19, 2012Give me a break, Mr. Sapieha.

Any fan of literature is aware of the plot device called the Deus Ex Machina, that magical character that comes out of nowhere to tie up all the loose ends and provide all the answers. The star child, who is nowhere to be found in either of the previous two installments - who isn't even hinted at - is one of these plot devices. This is LAZY WRITING. I would be embarrassed to have to resort to the use of one in any novel I put down on paper.

And his motivations are sophomoric. In order to save biological life from dying at the hands of their own synthetic creations, he creates a race of synthetics that wipes out all life in the galaxy anyway? To save them from dying he has to kill them? Insane parents use this logic just before they slit their kid's throats to "save them" from the demons inside of them.

I wasn't just disappointed in the game, I was openly embarrassed for the writers. I live in Bioware's home turf in Edmonton and know many of the writers. I know that they completely turned over the writing team for ME3, and most of the new writers hadn't even played the first two games. It shows.

....this explains alot, really...

I know this is a bit late, but I read the comment from Mr. Woo. Am I the only one who felt that Mr. Woo was being a tad bit condescending? I mean, I don't think Bioware really want that after this whole fiasco.

Why is Bioware going from "We hear you, we do care." To trying to put us down for not being happy with the product that they put out. They promised us different things, and they were not delievered. They won't admit it, now they are being hateful towards the fans that are being civil, and nice. Why?:(

v1.13

Keeping the information fresh for new page visitors. Thanks for that list of links, I got to the change.org site and signed the petition. We need more people to sign it with reasoning that is clear, consice and not full of grammatical errors.

I signed with my reasoning:

The writing skills expressed by BioWare over the course of their company history has proven to be of a higher quality. This reasoning also applies to Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2, and most of Mass Effect 3.

Yet at the ending portion of the game, it is plainly visible that the writing was not taken seriously. There could many reasons it went that way, from meeting a deadline, the leaks, or hitting budget. However, no matter the reasoning the presentation was unacceptable.

BioWare is held to higher standards for the sole reason that they write complete and concise stories for their games. When they break those standards, combined with the mass amount of false advertising considering the story, they set themselves up for this backlash from not only fans, but paying customers.

You feel bad because you love Mass Effect, and you respect and admire Bioware, because they did an awesome work in five years, and yet you can't believe how can managed to screw it so bad in the last 10 minutes.

Close enough?:(
