I'm sure I'm not the only one to have noticed, but no one seems to be discussing it here. It seems to me that the PR tactics have shifted from "you're entitled" to "It's art-you can't change it!" As I've seen multiple articles on this, it seems unlikely that this is not a coordinated attack on our position by PR spin doctors.

I feel that the best defense is this:
http://social.biowar...ex/10204263/1In

We aren't demanding change because we just don't like their artistic vision. We are demanding change because they didn't deliver the product they explicitly promised. Regardless of whether or not someone likes the ending, it doesn't change the fact that everyone who bought the game was deliberalty misled.

Hopefully this helps, as this attack is less easily dismissed as the "entitled" attacks. It looks like they are hoping to gain supporters by forcing us to choose between holding our position or defending gaming as a legitimate art form. We must not faulter.

Satisfied customers are repeat customers. Your choices matter, EA.

If Maruader Shields is our Martyr for the Cause... I'm pretty sure atghunter is our hero.

I mean, that's fair right? Because at the very least, I know when I was feeling burned out by this... I read his posts and remembered: Other fans may not like it, gaming journalism machine may not like it, EA may not like it... But this campaign is our Right.

Some people like to say that we are acting like entitled children to demand Bioware change their 'masterpiece.' However, what these people seem to keep forgetting is Bioware as a company exists because of the the good will of fans. Sure, they created the series and we loved it.

The thing is, if we didn't buy ME1 en masse... Regardless of the fact that it was planned to be a trilogy, it simply wouldn't have been financially viable for them to continue. And if we, the most passionate [XBOX & PC], fans didn't sing ME1's praises so loudly.. I doubt they would have ever brought the series to the PS3 with the second installment.

Now collectively, the time between the release of ME2 & 3, is when we the fans truly showed our power and resolve. Case and point FemShep. Bioware was content to never let her see the light of day outside of our own personal tv/computer screens... and we were dissatisfied with that. We campaigned long and hard, and in the end... femShep not only got on the N7 cover; she got her own trailer... And ultimately, we chose what she looked like... Putting a giant spot light on Jennifer Hale, who until then had bee largely under-appreciated.

This, is why I can't get behind the idea that Mass Effect 3 is a stagnate piece of art. Not to say that it's not art, it's simply always been a community art project. That's what Mainstream media will never understand, what gaming journalism should have understood, and what we wont let Bioware forget!

So Hold The Line, friends! Take it in shifts if you have to. Dedicate certain days a week you spend on here if you must, send letters & emails whenever as often as the mood strikes... And just keep it up.

I have to believe, we'll get it done. Hold The Line.

That unigamesity article is like a breath of fresh air after being trapped in a box for an hour. What an absolute joy it is to know that at least SOME journalists actually know the meaning for their profession and try to hold it at least basic tenants.

Get a refund or sell it back where you got it. That hurts them more

If you bought it from Amazon, they will give you a full-refund for it...

It sounds like a trick but it really seems legit.

that article cites as its source a forum post in this very forum.  not exactly solid reporting.

That's a wonderful post. It's so heart warming to know that not only are protesting something very wrong, but we are also giving to children who truely need it.

Guys, the organized attacks against the movement and unhappy fans in general are not unexpected. Hold the line, be clear, concise, and civil. It's easy to get drawn into a firefight when you're as passionate as we are when it comes to ME3 and the endings, but rise above it and keep making the points we've been making from day one.

They're feeling the pressure. Keep it up and we they may tip their hand when PAX East rolls around.

Sometimes, lots of speculation can be a double edged sword. Bioware is finding this out the hard way.

Indeed, I think we've gotten so far partially because we've remained so civil. This is the first time I can say that about an internet movement like this. Make them realize we're people. Empathy will help us bring about the ending dlc.

I'm just reposting my post from the facebook page but it fits here too:

You know what's funny? With all these people talking about artistic integrity and that a creator of a work should have the end all be all say on a work of art must have never heard of the editing process.
As an aspiring writer i understand artistic integrity. But i also understand the need to take your audience into account to tell the best story. Hell not even the audience, just staying true to everything that came before those last 10 pages. If you want to come up with something and let it be fully your own vision with no input from anyone else let it sit in your desk when its done, your audience has been satisfied. But the majority of work that makes it out into the public, and at that point has become a product, has, in some way at least, been affected by someone else.

Empathy is what will win us supporters on the inside, and that's what we'll need in order to gain traction.

To be honest the art argument would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic. The fact of the matter is if you pay for and are promised a portrait and then recieve something out of the funny pages it's still art but it's not what was paid for. We were promised one thing and fobbed off with another. ME3 left me with the same kind of feeling I had when SoE dropped the NGE bomb on SWG and my main toon ceased to exist overnight. Why is it that the larger a company gets the harder they find it to just hold up their hands and say sorry, we'll sort it out?

Getting awful close to April 1, isn't it.

Seriously, though, I don't mind waiting up to six months for BioWare to rewrite the ending--provided they TELL us what's going on, and that they need time to write that.

I know good writing takes time. I've been pre-writing for the same post-ME fanfiction for a year and a half now, running things by my friends, making sure I have no plotholes or inconsistencies. But it's still a fanfic. And right now, I feel like the first drabbles of my fanfic are better-written than BioWare's own ending.

If this is a mistake, BioWare, just tell us. We're all civil human beings. We aren't unforgiving. Tell us how much time you need, and you'll have it.

And until we get an answer, we will Hold the Line.

Well, I finished the game not too long ago. Have to say, I loved it (minus the endings). Mass Effect is a great story. The Endings are just really messed up. People are trapped in Sol, will never see their homeworlds, trillions will starve to death, normandy crew is stranded on random planet, and the whole Galaxy is in lockdown since there are no relays.

Shepard can die, the whole crew can die in some final battle, but I just hope that we are not leaving the ME Galaxy a bigger mess than when we first entered it. It certainly ends with bright colors and a nice scene, but after giving a moment of thought, the endings are depressing with little hope, it's almost like the Reapers did succeed in this Cycle anyway.

Anyway, just wanted to add my voice to this movement, that I support it, not because I demand to be satisfied, I can remain dissatisfied and move on, but I would like to see this ME Galaxy to be as legendary as Shepard is said to be in the end. Honestly, I would like to see more of the Galaxy in the years to come. The endings just don't seem to make that possible, which is why I'm dissapointed.

That's why we hold the line. We love mass effect and we can't let it end like this without a fight.
