Here's a great article (thats been linked before) that makes a solid case for why the ending is genuinely bad.

Hold the line.

A bit of a rambling read, but the argument is sound and looks at the problem from a very basic set of writing principles. In other words: "Nailed it."

Kind of wish he'd edit that article down to about 6 paragraphs, which I think would be sufficient to make his point, however. :)

Okay thanks.  Glad to see someone saw my idea.  Please when you hear something could you Pm me with the details when they figure them out on the FB page?

People who i talked to here please hold off and go with the face book date so they we send the most at once and remember to write the words "We will hold" on the badges so that Bioware will get a message and not be able to resell them.  Thanks for staying with us people.
Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

If you were the first to start up on this idea, then kudos for you! I only saw someone mention it in a closing line ("Bioware will be getting my N7 Patch in the mail soon") and just immediately thought of how much brilliant potential that has as a grassroots form of civil protest.

I'll definitely keep you updated if I hear anything else. In the meantime I see no harm is people starting off if they want to get a jump start. Like atghunter just posted: A river is as good as an ocean when it comes right down to it. And we can keep working on cooperating with other outlets - like the RetakeME3 FB group and such - to pass the idea on and get as many people as possible on board.

Oh and for those without a N7 Patch to send, someone put this up a few pages back as an alternative to print and send:
images.darkhorse.com/covers/300/20/20732.jpg

The mailing address as put up by Agememnon earlier:
Mailing Address:

BioWare Edmonton

200-4445 Calgary Trail NW

Edmonton AB

Canada T6H 5R7

EDIT: Just to keep stressing it - though it's been said over and over and most seem to be on board - please, please keep any accompanying letters polite, civil and in the spirit of progress. Don't target individuals. Don't hate. :) The key to this kind of thing is largely letting a simple gesture speak volumes on its own.

What would make this even more impactful--If nothing is said in 2 days  then on my day off I'm getting a small padded envelope. I'll put in a very short letter, along with my N7 CE Patch, and I'm going 1 step further. I'm going to physically cut off the upc codes of every single Bioware /EA game I own and mail them in. Showing them exactly how many games I own, and what they are going to potentially lose. I'm also going to document every single DLC item purchase I've made with my XBOX ID-- so they can check for themselves.... I think 10 or more UCs falling out of an envelope along with the Patch should state my case.

Good, that sounds like desperation. The final stage before caving in :)

The Facebook page doesn't even seem to be visible if you don't have an account.
That's just... strange. Why would you hide it when you are trying to show your support?

Having only just activated my user on this site, purely because of how outraged and upset I am over this very small (yet important) part of Mass Effect, I wanted to show that I too am amoungst you all my friends. Its fantastic to see so many gathering and working together, and ironically its probably a legacy from ME3 that BW never thought would come about from its release! Its lts like our very own galactic gathering of fleets.

Anyway, once my friends have finished the game, I'll be pointing them over to here & to the FB page to help swell the numbers. Keep it up guys and don't loose hope.

Holding the line.

LOL - yeah, desperation is the word for it ...
... one guy argues that HoldTheLine numbers are inflated x10 while SupportBW are inflated x2
... and therefore they are only down by 3/4 (they have 212 signers), must be "new" math 8)

Seems to be mostly the artsy argument. Which is flawed, for reasons I already stated but will gladly repeat:

This is not about violating Biowares artistic integrity. Because they basically did that all by themselves, by contradicting their own work and, in parts, even invalidating it.
If I were the writer of a popular novel, that I've invested hours upon hours of work in, just to oversee a flaw that threatens to ruin all the carefully laid out lore, I'd be damn glad if a fan were to point it out for me.

Bottom line: We're not saying "The painting sucks" but we're saying "There's a big stain on your otherwise great picture that you've apparantly overlooked. Might wanna fix that"

I knew ending was bad before i finished the game. but when i saw the end, it simlpy left me dipressed. I still have no desire to replay the game. Just having last 10 min invalidate all the choises u made in all 3 games, that was soul crushing. Way to murder franchise.

Personaly i would like an option of 'happy' ending where shepard ends up with his/her LI on some beach watching sunset.

Its kinds strange, by not allowing us to influence outcome of the game, they left us with one option.
Influence outcome of the game outhere in real life, here we have a choise, after all they did train us to make choises and expect results and outcomes based on those choises in all 3 games.

And now chickents come home to roost

I guess Bioware should have considered that THEIR choises will have impact and outcome they may not have intended. Irony :)

I'm thinking of donating $20 to the Child's Play charity.

Sending in N7 patches/print outs are good, but what about something else physical to send in? Something along the lines of how "Jericho" fans sent in peanuts to CBS. It gets the point across, but also isn't wasteful as the product could be donated to charity as CBS did for the peanuts they received.

Likely to be initiated by EA staff, the members are probably genuine though. But then again EA considered charging for every reload in-game, so I might be underestimating them...

I found this idea as well and totally agree with it. Would it be possible to organize it so that all such people who care to join have their letters arrive at roughly the same time period?

Also, I don't have the normal version but is that double sided cover separate from the main package? That could be sent in too. If this works though, some sort of central post to organise this from would be needed. What say you?

Strange ... I have a daughter who is an artist ...
... it seems the process contains many many many "rewrites".

Didn't someone once say, "Art is never finished, it is abandoned"?

Leonardo da Vinci - "Art is never finished, only abandoned".
... I wonder what ever happened to him?

It seems that BW didn't have enough paragon points to get away with that ending.

Just wanted to say that I'm still supporting this movement.

Physical UPCs of Bioware games you've purchased. Showing them what they are losing.

Just a quick thought...

Do you think that we would have felt less betrayed over the endings as long as each choice Shepard made on the citadel resulted in a wildly differently animated cutscene? Are we angrier that we feel ending makes no sense or that the ending was lazily produced (ie: one cutscene for three choices)?

Would this movement be in effect if the ending was varied enough -- even if it didn't make as much sense as we would have liked -- to warrant multiple playthroughs.

If it had included the choices that we had made, as well as the lack of plot holes. We would be less angry. The skittles ending still would flame me though.

"First Mass Effect 3 multiplayer challenge brings down 3M Brutes, free DLC coming"
by Lydia Sung Monday, March 9, 2012
http://www.neoseeker...ree-dlc-coming/

NEOSEEKER:Shogun says ...
... I probably killed 300 by myself playing nonstop at silver chasing brutes all weekend LOL they better reward us well for all our time and beating x3 their gap

Okay, lets do the math ...
3000000/300=10000 multiplayers for the big Goliath weekend (give or take).
... and that around 3 weeks after launch?

Are those really the numbers you want people to see, EA/BioWare?

Just sayin'

I would've been less angry.

If they indeed intended to undo everything we've done and kick the whole concept of hope and struggle out of the window at the last second, the very least they could've done is not being so goddamn lazy about it.

That really was what added insult to injury

Time to join the line. Wrote this for another forum to try and put a lighter note on a minor issue with the game. Its also kind about the ending and hope it cheers up folks in the trenches.

A couple of potential spoilers here for turret fans so be warned.

I was initially concerned about ME3, as ME2 and ME1 had missed out on a great opportunity by leaving out turret NPCs. Sure there were flying and enemy turrets and even one you could drive, and while the geth might be turrets-with-legs, at very few points could anyone establish a relationship in the manner spaceman and turret naturally are meant to.

Thank goodness for ME3. After an initial scare with a turret I could only switch off, eventually the devs got the picture and gave me one as a companion on some moon. Turret-chum reminded me why I was fighting – not like those stupid whiny crewmates with their problems and conversations and stuff.

Turret –chum couldn’t come with me at that stage, but being true RPG greats, Bioware let me meet up and continue our relationship at a couple of points, even including a moment of genuine choice when I had to decide whether to use turret-chum on some turrets-with–legs.

I don’t remember much of the rest of the game, it was all stupid people making stupid choices, although when I switched off the sound in multiplayer I could at least pretend some of the people there were kinda turrets-with-legs.

I’m also a bit concerned that that there was some trouble importing the version of turret-chum I met on Tuchanka in ME2 – it looked and sounded different and there was a bug that deleted all the pyjaks in the game.

(There are a couple of spoilers ahead about non-turret related stuff so be warned.)

Oh my sweet tears of joy though, when in the run up to the final battle I looked up and saw turret-chum awaiting me for one final fling together. They stuck the messages from all those noisy NPCs in an easy to overlook side room, and I could walk past the other characters without wasting any time and jump straight on my LI who was always turret-chum. I was really hopeful at that point.

The ending was a complete letdown, it really sucked for turret fans. There were visions of some blue chick who wanted to be my girlfriend and someone who was OLD, but no cut scenes with turret-chum to let me know what it was all for. There were no choices specifically about turrets or anything and even the choice for the turrets-with legs was a lousy one.

They even made me WALK to make my final decision – any decent game would know you should shoot at yellow dangly bits with a turret and not have to walk or press buttons or anything.

I really hope some DLC addresses this issue, the game could do with a satisfactory resolution of turret-chum’s story arc and a patch for the pyjaks. Maybe someone can look at the game files or start a petition and see if turret-chum becomes unlockable later – that would be really neat. Posted Image

Full thanks to the guy on that website who pointed out the importance of turret shooting in the game.
