fr me you cant claim artistic integrity if you dont keep the integrity of your source material. that's the crux of the argument really, they abandoned the lore.
Exactly. Using Mr. Levine's analogy, can you imagine if JK ended Harry Potter with Harry jumping into unexplained beams that may or may not be real to become part of the death eaters and then THE END? There'd be a figgen riot. People would lose their s***. Retake would seem pale in comparison.
But JK didn't use the final book to tack on a cliched filled, grimdark ending. If anything I think his analogy works against his argument quite a bit.

I hope i will try to use it correctly... people where VERY dissapointed in the way Liara apeared in the second game... she did only a minor cameo... a few month we got Liar of the Shadowbroker... an expansion the fans craved for... and a continuation of one of many story threads...
After a few months the same game got something called transition DLC... which was meant to happen between the ending of ME2 and the beginnging of ME3, ergo creating a NEW END to ME2...
Get my drift?
Holding the line!
Had not thought about it that way. Actually refuels my hope canister to hold the line.
Nice thinking!

I'm thinking of donating $20 to the Child's Play charity.
Sending in N7 patches/print outs are good, but what about something else physical to send in? Something along the lines of how "Jericho" fans sent in peanuts to CBS. It gets the point across, but also isn't wasteful as the product could be donated to charity as CBS did for the peanuts they received.
It was suggested - red, blue, green crayons or pens.....

Shadowbroker was ok I think, but Arrival wasn't really too great in my opinion, and certainly not a new ending, in hindsight I actually feel like it was more like an excuse for why not to have to include batarians in ME3.

I would not normally make such a stink, I would instead simply plop myself right into the "customer-dissatisfied" column and make efforts to convey the problems of the game to those I met in person. I have the impression, however, that in this conflict, if I do not actively position myself as another dissatisfied customer seeking to have a defective product repaired as part of a recall or independent-agent service scheme then my preorder and purchase will end up being counted as a silent supporter of the game as is.
I am not. I do not. I can not.
I will not be voted in support by proxy and so I must speak up and out. I am dissatisfied, displeased, and ready to explain to Bioware by e-mail, PM, or conversation in person if that's what it takes, the points where I feel their judgment was in error or their execution was fatally flawed.

This was from the other forum - we've hit main page BBC in the UK - I know others including myself have contacted other places like ITV - channel 5 - to see if we can get them to write up stories.
Same person also been talking with Vin Diesal's pub - going to see how that goes.

I don't know if anyone noticed but there is a large pricedrop in germany for the standard edition. That shows some desperation, doesn't it?

It is now only 39,99€ that is rapid for a AAA game. COD stayed constant over monthes with 49,99€
We saw the same reaction over in NA, in fact last night we found out amazon is actually giving full refunds for opened copies of ME3.
It looks like we're having an effect, but I don't know near enough about economics and marketing to be in any way sure.

I don't know if sending physical things other then patches that fit in an envelope is a good idea. The Jericho thing has been done to death and we have our own thing with the Child's Play charity that's fairly unique. If you're going to pay shipping on a box of crayons, give that money to Child's Play instead and send them an N7 print out.
Well, just my opinion anyway.

I found the statement from BioWare's Barnett "Just as J.K. Rowling can end her books and say that is the end of Harry Potter. I don't think she should be forced to make another one." is quite absurd. Rowling doesn't sell you the last book of Potter for $60, tells you that 50 pages are missing but only continue an additional character and some background information on the series but are not *totally* critical to the book, but that you can buy those 50 pages separately for an additional $10 if you want to actually read the book in its entirety, that she might release more pages later that you can also buy and read (preferably by reading the entire book again including the newly released pages), and then to top it all off ends the series by sending in an armada of tinfoilhat-wearing space hamsters riding pink ponies that kill Harry Potter and turn the universe into a cheesecake, described in 30 lines of text, because she saw fit to a "bittersweet" ending.
Yes, any author can tell you that adding a previously unknown character (such as that armada) that without warning changes the core elements of the book is the best way to upset, confuse and potentially lose readers.
But whenever they bring up books I cannot help but to think of Sherlock Holmes... :innocent:

I am dutch i payed 89,99 euro for the CE edition (:
If it was stated while releasing the game that Shepards created in ME1 and imported in ME2 could not be imported in ME3 i would never ever have bought the game CE.
and i also ordered a scale model (like thunderbirds) on the Normandy 2 Knowing in the endings it would be destroyed i would never ever had spending money on the scale model.
I have it now and it does look nice.. But i cant look at it anymore.
The endings spoiled everything.

Just wanted to step in and join the discussion. Finished ME3 a few days ago after drawing it all out by trying to explore as much as possible. Dissatisfied with a number of flawed implementations, including and especially the journal system, although that wasn't how I'd conceived of it - to me, it wasn't the journal that was broken so much as it was that Spc. Traynor did not have a cargo manifest handy so that I could see what I had loaded onto the Normandy. I also felt that the lack of at least one additional "hub" was a serious mistake in terms of compressing gameplay, limiting exploration, and substantially reducing the amount of character development and progression available. I think the overwhelming wrongness (in a narrative and structural sense) of the endings has overwhelmed other problems with ME3 which I hope will be fixed with DLC. The rumor of a Storm Omega DLC pack sounds quite good, although I would vastly prefer that to be something Shep' does with Aria in order to add to the war asset value of the Terminus Fleet. Purgatory gets mighty boring with her content ending so very soon after you meet her, especially by comparison with your experience with her as a very rounded and fleshed out character in ME2. Regardless, and as disappointing as I think other parts of the game are (not up to ME1 or 2 in terms of side-paths and alternate routes), I wish above all to join the Retake Mass Effect movement's presence here.

Welcome to the BSN, we are glad that you have decided to voice your support for us, and if you are like many of us, you are still hurting from just how poorly the Mass Effect series was ended. Hopefully you can find the solace you seek here, because we have all experienced it. Now that you're here, and if you have the stomach for it, there are a few suggestions for what you might do to help out with Retake Mass Effect:
Like the facebook group here: www.facebook.com/DemandABetterEndingToMassEffect3
Donate to Child's Play in support of the cause: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/9845819/1
After that, or if neither tickles your fancy, head out into the wilds of the BSN and engage with your fellow fans. We're all here because we love the Mass Effect universe, and we hate to see it end this way. Even if you decide that simply voicing your support here is enough, I personally ask that you please revisit the BSN as often as convenient to make a post here or there. Show Bioware that just because you're silent doesn't mean you don't still care, you're still watching and you won't be ignored.

They know what is right, all they have to do is get the money signs out of their eyes and give their income (the fans) what they want. Whether it be a remake of the ending a continuation, acceptance of the indoctrination theory(my favorite btw)
also, I don't know if anyone has already said this but bioware canceled dlc for dragon age 2 recently, they say its because they are "shifting focus to the next game" but maybe this is them moving resources around for some reason...(other than the "next game") maybe its just another PR stunt but who knows...

Bioware wouldn't be anywhere if it wasn't for the fans that have taken an enormous interest in their games, I have loved bioware games ever since i played KOTOR 1 and have loved every game since. Kinda feels like they are just abandoning another story, though. DA2's story is left fairly unresolved I hear.

Welcome. I don't want to get on the nerves of the good people of this thread, so I'll spare you my customary welcome message for a more personalized one.
We are glad that you are here, because each person that swells our ranks gives us a better chance at seeing Mass Effect get the ending it deserves. If you are able, please continue to post here on the BSN as often as is convenient. Show that your silence does not equate to acceptance.

DA2's story is just as bad. Its like Bioware said hmmm, what did everyone not like about DA2's story? Lets put all that in Mass Effect 3!

Welcome brother, every new voice counts. Only together will we be able to give Mass Effect the ending that was promised, the ending it deserves. Welcome to the line.
I thought about this too, but all we can really do at this point is hope for the best but expect/plan for the worst.savagejuicebox wrote...

Dont Fight...
the main goal is to get a fix !
and also like Clarian just stated... It was Bioware that opened this topic !
So Bioware.. Chris ... were are you?
someone said that Bioware employees are like plants now..
My guess is that EA told them WE will handle this situation!
I cant imagine that the creative ppl that develloped the Mass Effect Universe are happy ..
Its all about money..
so i think its EA now that controls the situation and told Bioware.. dont speak.. dont do anything.. WE are in charge now.
If this is so it will ruin Bioware!
Also i cant imagine that the fan oriantated Bw employees are not following the topics ( This one also).
Maybe a heroe from Bioware will stand forward and probably will loose his Job ....
But thats just a dream.
The EA company with all there money and damage control teams are in charge now.
( i think)

Silence, then acknowledgement that some people didn't like it, then more give us feedback blablabla.
