Kinda feels like they are just abandoning another story, though.  DA2's story is left fairly unresolved I hear.

DA2's story is just as bad.  Its like Bioware said hmmm, what did everyone not like about DA2's story?  Lets put all that in Mass Effect 3!

So true. They murdered the Dragon Age Universe with DA2 for me, now they've done the same with Mass Effect.
Why couldn't they have made the ending choices like in DA:O. I really cried when I made the Ultimate Sacrifice or saw Alistair die in my arms. That was such a good game ...

problem is, not even DA1 has an exceptional story. I found both DA1&2 fun to play to a certain extent, merely entertainment with no emotional ties to it as with ME, as silly as it sounds. It is several mass relay jumps away of the immersiveness of ME1/2/3 (minus the ending of ME3),  for me anyway.

DA2 got panned by so many people they still went and repeated it in ME3. Its like they didn't listen to a word anyone said.

Long time lurker here, i see new people join the thread everyday and i felt like i should get involved as well, i even found myself turning off mass effect 3 because of what atghunter posted. Bioware wouldn't be anywhere if it wasn't for the fans that have taken an enormous interest in their games, I have loved bioware games ever since i played KOTOR 1 and have loved every game since. (including mass effect 3)
They know what is right, all they have to do is get the money signs out of their eyes and give their income (the fans) what they want. Whether it be a remake of the ending a continuation, acceptance of the indoctrination theory(my favorite btw)

also, I don't know if anyone has already said this but bioware canceled dlc for dragon age 2 recently, they say its because they are "shifting focus to the next game" but maybe this is them moving resources around for some reason...(other than the "next game") maybe its just another PR stunt but who knows...

I heard the same, one of the reasons I never played it, what was their response to that?

Silence, then acknowledgement that some people didn't like it, then more give us feedback blablabla.

Wow that's.... exactly what they are doing here....... must remain calm.... damn now im getting mad, I should probably get off for a bit to cool down.

Hold the line

Just wanted to step in and join the discussion. Finished ME3 a few days ago after drawing it all out by trying to explore as much as possible. Dissatisfied with a number of flawed implementations, including and especially the journal system, although that wasn't how I'd conceived of it - to me, it wasn't the journal that was broken so much as it was that Spc. Traynor did not have a cargo manifest handy so that I could see what I had loaded onto the Normandy. I also felt that the lack of at least one additional "hub" was a serious mistake in terms of compressing gameplay, limiting exploration, and substantially reducing the amount of character development and progression available. I think the overwhelming wrongness (in a narrative and structural sense) of the endings has overwhelmed other problems with ME3 which I hope will be fixed with DLC. The rumor of a Storm Omega DLC pack sounds quite good, although I would vastly prefer that to be something Shep' does with Aria in order to add to the war asset value of the Terminus Fleet. Purgatory gets mighty boring with her content ending so very soon after you meet her, especially by comparison with your experience with her as a very rounded and fleshed out character in ME2. Regardless, and as disappointing as I think other parts of the game are (not up to ME1 or 2 in terms of side-paths and alternate routes), I wish above all to join the Retake Mass Effect movement's presence here.

Welcome aboard Embermage!

To calm you down a bit... they did take some of the feeback to make the 2 DLC packs better.  Neither DLC advances the story or resolves the ending, though.

But one could excuse DA2 because it's a "middle" story. It's not a good idea to try that sh!t in the conclusion.

Still... it was supposed to be concluded in an expansion that is now cancelled.  Thats tough to take for the fans I bet, and also with no confirmation of a resolution in DA3.

I'm thinking of donating $20 to the Child's Play charity.

Sending in N7 patches/print outs are good, but what about something else physical to send in? Something along the lines of how "Jericho" fans sent in peanuts to CBS. It gets the point across, but also isn't wasteful as the product could be donated to charity as CBS did for the peanuts they received.

It was suggested - red, blue, green crayons or pens.....

I don't know if sending physical things other then patches that fit in an envelope is a good idea. The Jericho thing has been done to death and we have our own thing with the Child's Play charity that's fairly unique. If you're going to pay shipping on a box of crayons, give that money to Child's Play instead and send them an N7 print out.

Well, just my opinion anyway.

Hold The Line.

Patches are good but the crayons I thought were not a bad idea whether - simply because that's what seperates the endings.  I mean the guy that's color blind only gets 1 ending.......Reason why they are done is the fact they are affective - Jarrioc even say - thing that really swayed was all the nuts coming in lol

Dragon Age 2 was a perfect test run for them.  In fact virtually everything people are complaining about with ME3 is the same exact stuff people complained about with DA2.  The graphics were better, combat was improved, story BOMBED.  Same thing in ME3.  So you'd think they would have learned from that mistake and not repeated it in Mass Effect 3, the conclusion to their most popular franchise.  I dunno, maybe they want to sabotage themselves or something.

^This - especially at about 11min into it. It's long but at that point and onward what this guy is saying completely backs up what we're trying to accomplish here and our right to do so. He completely rips into IGN and others trying to brush us off as 'enitled'. Worth the listen, guys.

so guys, i've been hearing about origin full refunds. i hear a lot of people going for it. is there any way to keep a tally of it, and, better yet, if people actually go through with the refund, think we can convince them to donate half of the $ to child's play?

Sorry, didn't mean to critcize you. I didn't explain myself well. What I was saying was that yes Jericho did it well, they were the first and it was a very good idea. After that almost every sci-fi show that's been cancelled has had some kind of "send in stuff like Jericho" campaign that went absolutely nowhere.

The Sarah Conner Chronicles for example. The fans couldn't even agree what to send in. Half sent pancake mix because Sarah liked to make pancakes, and half sent bolts as play on Jericho's "nuts" campaign. It didn't do a thing and I can already see paralels between half of us sending patches and half sending crayons.

I get that the crayons represent the different ending colours, I'm just saying the idea has been played out to the point of ineffectiveness. And we have our own unique thing with Child's Play that could use that shipping money and is getting us tons of great press.

But if you'd like to send crayons, hey, godspeed brother, whatever you can do to hold the line. Just makin a suggestion :D.

74%? That's gotta hurt. We'd better get a statement soon, because it looks like this situation keeps getting worse for BioWare and EA.

EA is not hurting, they own the top 4 games on that list. Bioware is hurting, but EA is fine.

Anyone who's played the game has already purchased it so they got your money and if thats all EA is concerned about they've already won.

True, but if they're planning on relasing massive DLC in the form of missions, mp-stuff etc. to maximize the profit coming from the source ME 3, they definitely will have to deal with their actual sales not living up to their prognosis as a lot of people (at least at the moment) are not planning on buying DLC if it's meaningless due to the story being meaningless in regards of the ending. EA would definitely not want that because they are a business and need to make money in order to exist (not saying that some ME 3 DLC will be that critical to them). But as I see things (as someone who isn't involved in business stuff at all) any company trying to sell stuff will not be happy if don't live up their prognosis. I mean look at it this way: today a fiscal year has been a failure, even when they made money but made less money than in the previous fiscal year. Making 10 million last years and this year "just" 9 million is a financial failure. EA is clever enough not to want that. Every company which has shareholder relies on growth.

Yeah and a lot of the money companies make off games now comes from post production DLC. Especially things like weapons and constume packs, and maps because they can charge 2-4 dollars for them and they have almost no production cost (since most of them just amount to color changes). So they're looking at some pretty serious projected losses if they lose a good portion of their DLC customers.
