Doublespeak in video game PR. Goodness, I'm getting old. Extraordinarily fascinating introduction to public relations techniques. Keep up the updates.
I also put ME3 on the shelf after I finished it. I'll give them a few weeks to respond, then I'm loaning it out, free of charge, to any of my friends who want to play it. Since they will only need to play it once, I imagine I can save all of my gamer friends some money. Make me want to keep it, Bioware.
I will hold the line.

That's not entirely true. You also need to account for sampling bias.
Like I said, I was really oversimplifying when I said that and granted the need to account for sampling errors and response biases across the board. I was just putting the enormity of the responses in perspective, in comparison to what's actually needed to create a statistically valid poll all other circumstances being equal.

I'm surprised the multiplayer doesn't end with an unending wave 10 with no extraction vehicle arriving at all.
It'd be more in line with Single player.
Or in wave 11 all 4 squad members turn into hybrids of the enemy mob species.
And then they die.
lol. so true

So I’ll Hold The Line
We need to keep civil but unwavering threads up on the front pages an avoid their trap PR threads asking for input they’ll ignore. Also the discontent spreads well beyond this forum but this forum seems to be the line.

They very possibly will be looking for ways to provoke people either into silent hopelessness or trying to get you to exhaust yourselves by way of giving them "feedback" over and over again. Marginalization (like saying "some of our most passionate fans") has the double effect of seeming like a provocation, with the goal of making you throw your hands up, Don't let it.
They've been doing this the whole time.
The first statement by "Casey" deliberately missed the point of the controversy.
www.gamesthirst.com/2012/03/14/bioware-responds-to-fan-criticism-of-me3s-ending-talks-sp-dlc/
The second came in a trifecta of social media - Twitter, Facebook and BSN - simultaneously. It was the "We're listening; Share your favorite memories of Shepard" post.
Facebook: www.facebook.com/photo.php
BSN: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/9992961/1
Twitter: (can't find the link. If someone has it, please send it along).
On a late Friday night, a second statement from "Casey".
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/324/index/10089946#10089946
Now there's a feedback thread, supposedly instigated by Jessica Merizan. This is the same girl who, in response to a fan asking for closure, stated this:
twitter.com/#!/JessicaMerizan/status/180486974338109440
Who now says:
"For the past few weeks, I've been collecting feedback. I have excel sheets, word documents, quotes, graphs, you name it."
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/10098213/1#10098213
So she's been collecting and documenting feedback for WEEKS for a game that released 11 days ago.
It's quite obvious EA/Bioware/PR firm are hoping to string us along long enough for the movement to grow weary and burn itself out. That's why people have to stay strong. Polite and calm, but strong.

I'm not touching any of my ME games until an ending fix is confirmed.

I'm sorry i don't see the link between this and the PR...this is common place for multiplayer games nowadays, Gears 3 has weekly events and right now Gotham City Imposters has a taskto get a weapon skin if you get 300 kills with this weapon...more than likely they had this planned months ago and have more plans to do these in the future. The indoc theory as crazy as it is has legs as the "proof" is quite compelling, but this thinking this has anything to do with bad PR? C'mon this is silly...i like to deal in facts not conspiracy theories...
Conspiracy theories are not always theories about govt lies and aliens. Conspiracy is just 2 or more people plotting a particular outcome they want. So, yes, a PR group wants to, in a clandestine manner, get a result they want. Conspiracies are usually considered evil, so this is in fact closer to collusion. It isn't illegal, just clandestine. That's the entire point. That you think it isn't happening is the goal.
So Conspiracy- no...collusion- yes. there just isn't anything illegal going on. it's just secretive.

Not a single cent from me will go to any Bioware or EA products.

To: atghunter Considering the people who will simply not buy from Bioware anymore, and the large number of people who certainly won't preorder any games from Bioware anymore. Who do you think has the greater advantage as far as time is concerned (us/Bioware). People might not hold the line anymore, but they're also probably not going to care about Bioware as well.
Honestly, this is a bit out of my depth. But here's what seems apparent:
In the last 5 years or so, through pre-orders game manufacturers have tried to shift “customers” (individuals who inspect a product in the marketplace and then decide whether or not to purchase it), into “patrons” (individuals who trust the integrity of a company enough to pay a premium price before the delivery of the product believing the item will be something they will approve of sight unseen). The patron/artisan relationship is one of significant trust b/c it ultimately removes the consumer’s main defense (i.e. voting with their wallet).
No matter how this turns out, has Bioware at best turned a bunch of die-hard fans from pre-purchase patrons into wary customers. I’d have to say yes.

I have come to trust BioWare with my endings -- but I have also heard murmurs of discontent. I share your concerns.
We are trained for roleplay; we would be legends, but the games are sealed. Glory in silence is not our way.
Think of our heroes; the Drew Karpyshyn, who defeated the unreading with a single book. Or the Jack Wall, who kept sounds at bay with hidden tunes.
These giants do not seem to give us solace here, but they are not all that we are.
Before the ending, there were the fans. Before forum wars, there were players!
Our influence stopped the noobs, but before that we held the line!
Our influence stopped the fools, but before that, we held the line!
Our influence will stop lame endings; in the battle today, we will hold the line!
