The less I play of Mass Effect 3, the less I want to return. This particular age of gaming moves rapidly. Much more so then the one I started in (NES era). The desire to return to Mass Effect and by extension, Bioware, rapidly diminishes the more I hear nothing from them. Make a concrete statement. Tell us to go stuff it if that's the plan, or tell us 'Yes, we rushed it, we were trying to make our Q1 goals' or anything besides 'We are listening'. I'm happily putting together a Pathfinder campaign now. Spending hundreds of dollars on books that I had been reserving for Mass Effect DLC and DA3 as well as other games.

Hold the Line folks. This guy is getting close to washing his hands of the situation and becoming a former customer rather than a disgruntled customer.

I agree, their tactics are from an old playbook before the age of social networking, and ample choice. waiting us out won't help. Even if they do wait us out, that'a a terrible thing for bioware, as when people give up, they don't just give up on the ending, and go back to playing ME3 normally, they give up on the game completely. And now that the trust is gone, since they have other choices from bioware games, they will in the future pick those. They keep feeding us the wait for more people to finish the game, but at this point, sales are slumping, and word of mouth is incredibly terrible. It's amazing walking around, and even people on the street are talking about how terrible they are. It's not jsut the retake movement spreading bad word of mouth, the average gamer hates it as much as we do, and while they might not be as active in the community as retake, they are still talking to freinds, and hurting bioware as much as we are. They need to do something fast, because they are looking at the death of this movement as a good sign, but IF it does die, there goes all of biowares loyal customers, and trust. Hell the ending has become such a huge joke that even people in the non gaming circles are starting to talk about it (just heard my finace talk about the terrible endings, and she hasn't even played the games). If they don't fix it, they will never live it down, and that will be the end of bioware. because unlike in ME, space magic doesn't fix things they don't want to deal with in real life.

Hold the line :wizard:

P.S. - How does one get one of those snazzy retake banners, I never really used game forums untill this problem.

You have no idea how much I think about that one line.  The effect of Social Media on the old paradigms, has created machinations no one 20 years ago could have imagined in their worst PR dreams or that organizers could have realized in their wildest fantasies.  How does it end?  Too early to tell.  But make no mistake, this is old school tactics and new rules parameters.  And each of you, all over the world should be proud you are here, letting your voices be heard!

Look at this thread.  It's turned into a marvel.

Take a passionate, galvanized town meeting with an ever-changing worldwide civil participation, throw in a solid support group, individuals constantly mining data from all over the globe, commentaries from so many intelligent men and women on a host of topics, comic moments, a ship's hold of esprit de corps, a heart the size of the citadel, and you have this place.

And it is yours no matter what choice Bioware has done to date nor chooses in the future to make. Each of you here has built it brick by brick out of a myriad of emotions, sheer determination, and hope.

Stay strong, stay passionate, stay civil, and no matter what side you support, use your voice.  As always, I am honored to stand with each of you and will Hold the Line

Keep up the good work everybody!

On the subject of ME3's drop in sales and popularity, it certainly means its winning, but I feel that it's only fair that if/when they release a revised ending, all those who took part in the Retake Movement agree to do their part in bringing ME3 sales and ratings back up. Until they agree to change the ending, they deserve no support from those who don't deem them worthy of it, but the movement has caused a critical blow to their public image. I for one would happily take part in a positive review-bombing after the ending is fixed, but until it is, this is ultimately just a passing notion. Just a thought.

Until then, Hold the Line!

For my part if/when the ending is revised I'm going to buy the crap out of some Mass Effect mechandise.  I had planned to buy a fair bit before this whole issue arose, and for now my money remains unspent in protest.  I've yet to submit reviews anywhere about the game, but will once we have a final decision from Bioware one way or the other to voice my response.

Hopefully the end result is agreeable to all parties.

Hold the Line!

same here i was going to buy From ashes for my 2nd playthrough future DLC etc not to mention physical merchandise i was planning to buy if there is no revised ending i will not be purchasing any DLC or merchandise because every time i see mass effect in my games pile i get semi Depressed thinking of the Awful ending

My ME3 experience is pretty similar to most stories I've read so far:

I was psyched with anticipation, I fully enjoyed playing the game, started hearing bad things about the ending, ignored it thinking I trust the awesome people at BioWare, got to the ending myself, there was ... a hole (or several ones, big ones)

*snip*

Hold the line!

I see what you did there! ;) And I approve!

Also, yes, it seems to be the normal story. I heard about horrible endings too but I kept playing, loving the game as I went along telling myself 'Nah, it's Bioware -- they totally wouldn't let me down. They know better! Especially after the 'meh' of DA2's ending' and 'Other people just didn't make sure to have the best score of EVAR and to do ALL THE THINGS but I do and I have and it will matter!' And then the end...

....And there was a hole, Shepard Commander. There was a hole.

Been away today (there was an earthquake over here) but I wanted to say we have to keep the pressure; don't give in to the silence, as many have said today, that's certainly good news. It wasn't going to be something fast, even if it feels like it's been forever to us, we have to give them time to realize we are going to remain here, that we won't go away. If they see that in any way we're fading away, they'll have won, and then nothing will happen.
Be strong, be confident, be respectful, and remember Hold the Line!!

"Mass Effect 3" is the highest-rated game of the year and one of the highest-rated games ever, (Michael) Pachter pointed out. "That means that objective reviews think it is just fine, making repercussions highly unlikely."

The players complaining are a vocal minority, he said -- a very small one.

This guy more often than not, is wrong. This is the same man who makes predictions each year about where the future of gaming is going (I've been hearing X360 price cuts for 2 years and nothing), and it almost never is true. So take what this guy says with a pound of salt.

Hold the Line People!

You kidding ? Patcher is pretty famous in france and french video game media, this guy is treated like "the patcher show" the only things he can predict is the obvious after he read the news that it happened already.
That's a good news if he said all that  : )

I've been watching a lot of Doctor Who recently. You want to talk about bittersweet endings. The events of the show conclude, and for good or ill, that's it. And I love the bittersweet endings.

Mass Effect 3's endings aren't bittersweet. My actions have no consequence, because all the endings are the same, and I am never told what happens after the initial explosion. I can't feel bad about what would have been better served as a cliffhanger ending.

That's the thing about Doctor Who, though, especially lately--no matter how crazy the episode is, no matter how odd the plot, it always fits into the overall story arc by the final episode, often in surprising and witty ways.  Steven Moffat et al are gods of script writing.  (In my humble opinion.)
