That announcement will be that we've been whittled down to "acceptable loss" levels.

Whoa... I went out for the night and 40 pages passed me by (serves me right for not manning my computer 24/6).

Any news to catch up on in the last 6 hours?

2 weeks for a (possible) COMMENT on the endings according to Bioware.

very appreciated. Anymore info on this "possible" comment or where it came from?

It was a twitter response to a fan asking when we can expect any news on the ending, and the twitter guy responding at least 2 more weeks till we comment. Can't find the link right now sorry, but you can check twitter, or further back on this page (or the monster thread, forgot which one had the link)

I think he was saying that the 2 weeks we've allowed is insufficient for them to provide us with a definitive comment.  They wouldn't commit to saying anything at PAX , this is just more PR double-speak.

Our Choices Should Matter - Hold the Line

Honestly, I think it's a PR trick, I'm not as good at analyzing these things as atg, but I have seen a simmilar tactic in my own line of work. I wrote up my own analysis a few pages back, so I won't repeat myself, but it is basically EA/BW begging for a let up to the pressure we are putting on them.

I'm not exactly a young gamer anymore my friend - I take inspiration where I find it.  I've found your posts very insightful - helpful......

Some I knew- some I didn't - a TV cartoon I used to love - was so right.........

Knowing is Half the Battle.

If we know what BW/EA is doing; going to do; we can easily counter it - keep the pressure on and win...

I'm proud to say; to each of you......I have your back - and I WILL HOLD THE LINE WITH YOU.

When this is over; meet me in the bar ;)

I'll buy the first round for anyone that can work in a GI Joe quote like that Sir!

Hello brothers and sisters,

I have a story pretty similar to many of you. Suffice to say, when I reached the ending I felt some sort of emptiness and regret. I texted my gamer friend who beat it the same night that I did and neither of us quite understood what just happened.

Since then, I came online and found a literal war being waged against the ending that I thought was terrible and did the series no justice. Besides the obvious plotholes (I can overlook them because I wasn't a giant lore person), I felt no sense of closure and after the credits rolled I couldn't stop but think, " If I would have gotten only 1000 war assets would this have ended even worse?".

See, I was one of the people who played ME1 and 2 and had a bunch of war assets from that, and completed every mission that I could in ME3. I was paragon and ended up having the ability to basically rally every single ally I thought the game had to offer, and I played MP to get to 100% readiness before I plunged into the final mission. I figured if there was any chance to a happy ending that I would be able to see it.

Well I didn't get any sort of satisfaction out of the ending. Shep dies (maybe???), everyone is stranded, and I don't even understand wtf the Normandy is doing. I'm mostly an indoctrination theory supporter and that means I don't even know if any of that really happened and if the reapers were even defeated. Anyway, I'm glad to have found you guys and am glad there are people fighting for a proper sort of ending that will at least explain what happens with the galaxy.

Long time lurker... first time poster.... Holding the line.

Hey, totally empathize, didn't go for 100%, went to 80% with MP because I couldn't wait. Personally I think the Indoc Theory would be too odd to be implemented, I just think the ending needs to be scrapped and redone, but the Indoc Theory is far better than what is currently there and I'll support it if that is the only option!

Anyway, welcome.

Retake ME3! Save the Galaxy! Hold the Line!

Cynical here ...
... offering refund is brilliant!

1) As non-invested players take the money and leave, they no longer qualify to post in these forums.
2) They are less likely to pay further attention to this tragedy.
3) EA/BioWare gains buffer against liability.

Interesting idea for the lulz. But paying people to go away and tucking your tail in between your legs while you hunker down, close your eyes and ears hoping things get better costs you more money in the long-run.

Some one, please read this article.
Then comment on it, showing how civil and reasonable we really are.
There is a poster on there giving us a bad name, so please help out in spreading the word of
what our movement is all about.

Cheers.

Hold the Line

The writer of the article is childish in both the article AND responding to comments. I honestly don't feel like wasting my time.

If we take the time, then it shows we care.
Don't brush the opposition off.
Show them reason. They can't deny reason. Unless... well...
If they are insane, then we wouldn't want them anyway.

Hold the Line

I agree with you that our silence shows a lack of conviction and apparently others shared my feelings. I've posted on their page. We should keep an eye out for articles like that and civilly rebuke the attacks. Keeping a level head when they are trying desperately to turn us into a mob is of the utmost importance at this point. Thanks for throwing this out there.

Thank you for the new banners. I'm still trying to get mine to work out.

I think we should watch our actions when it comes to flooding a website with comments. We have to watch all of our moves since everybody else is. This is a PR battle after all. The Line Vs. EA's PR team.

On another note, how are things goingon IGN? I know they are acting childish and attacking the movement, but I also heard something about the movement being rather strong over there.

Over 40 pages of posts to get through before I could post this. Thanks to ATG for his continued participation.

For those who are pinning their hopes on PAX...and for everyone who posts in this thread, a certain amount of paranoia is a good thing, and I want to foster that a little bit. This issue is not being ignored by BioWare, EA or EA's shareholders. Let me explain. I'm sure ATG will correct me if I'm misleading or flat-out wrong. A thought on PAX further on.

This kind of issue gives PR firms, psychoanalysts and consultants great information. EA's PR book may be from the pre-social media era, but they hire professionals who learn fast. They watch forum threads just like this one, and gauge reaction to every move they make, whether a misstep or a planned inflammatory blab. They use our reactions to paint a new psychological profile for the social media era and actively research ways to cooperate, diffuse, circumvent, or actively confront.

Stay as civil as you can at all times. What we want is to show a consistent attitude without straying from our main discussion points and what we want for ME3. If we stay calm and consistent, we give their professional analysts nothing to use against us. Right now they're using old tactics. Don't give them any new information to use to form new strategies to deflect or dismiss us.

As for PAX, they have an opportunity. If they decide to issue the statement we're waiting for, then good. If by chance they don't then what? Whatever they decide what will our reaction be? Are we going to jump for joy? Give up? Become sullen or just explode? Whatever you choose never doubt that this thread is being watched carefully. The folks participating here are a powerful force. Returned games are a statement, canceled subs are a statement. It's all being watched for information to help EA in the longer term. We look at the short term goal, to get the endings and fixes we think ME3 deserves. Most likely, in those corporate hallways, there's more going on than that. We're also trying to get a change in company culture for future games, not just ME3. Stick together, be coherent, and ignore any random insults or snark. Stay focused. In the words of a great ex C-Sec officer:

"If you yell loud and long enough eventually someone will come over to see what all the fuss is about."

Well, we're there. BioWare claims they are listening. Our continuing message has to not only be clear and consistent, but also looking forward in a positive way. So when you interact with those of a differing opinion, or a forum staffer who may feel threatened by a negative tone, remember that EA/BioWare has stated they are not done with this franchise. How we are received may shape whatever next game they have planned. Try and keep the emotion to a level where they know you're sincere, but won't dismiss you because you're raving or using a wall of capital letters.

The gaming industry is looking at how this plays out, and other companies may want to take advantage of the back and forth to change their next line of games to be more competitive and capture some of our business. We have more influence than we think. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. In the current economy of risk/reward a group like ours is worth paying attention to.

We Hold the Line not only for ME3 but for future games too.

No corrections from me to be sure!  An excellent post.  My compliments!

I don't find the article that bad, informing there was refund due more to good customers service rather than "because it's ME3" is fair.
Destructing copy of ME3 is not his business but yhea, i don't find it very productive either.
And for the "it has gone too far"... my my... no one can tell how far it will go until we reach the end, too far for "HIM" may be but the guy hardly decide where the line to not cross are. How far it needs to be depend on Bioware mostly, the longer they make it last, the worst it can get for their reputation, sadly.
Bioware is a company that lot of us have grown to love for their awsome games.

Don't get afected personnaly because some people want to stamp you and put you in a box you feel you don't belong, they actualy do it on purpose because it's more easy to generalise from one cliché individual rather than listen to everybody.
Sad thing is, they won't change their mind if they don't want to communicate in first place, they will just deny what you really think or really are.

While I agree with you and they have a right to their own opinion,
I also think that those opinions should be countered, if found wrongful in facts, and we are the means
to do this as we are in the movement.
Too many people are afraid to do the research which would show them
the truthful reasons for this movement, which is completely fine in my eyes.
When this man wrote this article, his way of replying to comments shows just how "immature" we really are.
We cannot be blamed for "going over the line" if some individuals choose to destroy their copies of this wonderful franchise.
However, being that this is the media, anything to do with rash actions like the FTC and the destruction of copies will be used against us.
WHich is why we need to inform them we are better than that and let them know of the reasons we're fighting tooth and nail for this. NOT because we're "entitled spoiled brats who want to end the video game developer artistry and ownership". BUT rather because we love this franchise and hold it near and dear to our heart for it to end on such a pathetic and depressing whimper.
It is up to us to show people we are the mature "minority" and
voice ourselves with mature actions.

This movement will go places.
I know it.
Our resolve is adamant.

That's what I would go with. We have put them under a lot of pressure for an extended perioed of  time. Which I would bet they weren't expecting. They probable thought we'd die out after the first couple of days. We haven't, we've grown. Now they are trying to handle us.

As I have said, I am not putting any stock in BioWare or EA's words unless it is a 100% commitment, one way or the other. Anything else leaves them wiggle room to try and get away from the pressure we're putting on them. It's important to stay on top of what's going on, but don't get taken in by it.

Our choices should matter. Hold the line.

The less I play of Mass Effect 3, the less I want to return. This particular age of gaming moves rapidly. Much more so then the one I started in (NES era). The desire to return to Mass Effect and by extension, Bioware, rapidly diminishes the more I hear nothing from them. Make a concrete statement. Tell us to go stuff it if that's the plan, or tell us 'Yes, we rushed it, we were trying to make our Q1 goals' or anything besides 'We are listening'. I'm happily putting together a Pathfinder campaign now. Spending hundreds of dollars on books that I had been reserving for Mass Effect DLC and DA3 as well as other games.

Hold the Line folks. This guy is getting close to washing his hands of the situation and becoming a former customer rather than a disgruntled customer.

I agree, their tactics are from an old playbook before the age of social networking, and ample choice. waiting us out won't help. Even if they do wait us out, that'a a terrible thing for bioware, as when people give up, they don't just give up on the ending, and go back to playing ME3 normally, they give up on the game completely. And now that the trust is gone, since they have other choices from bioware games, they will in the future pick those. They keep feeding us the wait for more people to finish the game, but at this point, sales are slumping, and word of mouth is incredibly terrible. It's amazing walking around, and even people on the street are talking about how terrible they are. It's not jsut the retake movement spreading bad word of mouth, the average gamer hates it as much as we do, and while they might not be as active in the community as retake, they are still talking to freinds, and hurting bioware as much as we are. They need to do something fast, because they are looking at the death of this movement as a good sign, but IF it does die, there goes all of biowares loyal customers, and trust. Hell the ending has become such a huge joke that even people in the non gaming circles are starting to talk about it (just heard my finace talk about the terrible endings, and she hasn't even played the games). If they don't fix it, they will never live it down, and that will be the end of bioware. because unlike in ME, space magic doesn't fix things they don't want to deal with in real life.

Hold the line :wizard:

P.S. - How does one get one of those snazzy retake banners, I never really used game forums untill this problem.

You have no idea how much I think about that one line.  The effect of Social Media on the old paradigms, has created machinations no one 20 years ago could have imagined in their worst PR dreams or that organizers could have realized in their wildest fantasies.  How does it end?  Too early to tell.  But make no mistake, this is old school tactics and new rules parameters.  And each of you, all over the world should be proud you are here, letting your voices be heard!

Look at this thread.  It's turned into a marvel.

Take a passionate, galvanized town meeting with an ever-changing worldwide civil participation, throw in a solid support group, individuals constantly mining data from all over the globe, commentaries from so many intelligent men and women on a host of topics, comic moments, a ship's hold of esprit de corps, a heart the size of the citadel, and you have this place.

And it is yours no matter what choice Bioware has done to date nor chooses in the future to make. Each of you here has built it brick by brick out of a myriad of emotions, sheer determination, and hope.

Stay strong, stay passionate, stay civil, and no matter what side you support, use your voice.  As always, I am honored to stand with each of you and will Hold the Line

Damn...that was beautiful.

Others will hold the line for you while you rest.  It will be here when you wake up.  This goes for everyone.  This movement is worldwide and it's not going away.  We all need to be in our best state of mind so that we can confront any challenges to come with level heads so that the PR department has nothing to latch on to and exploit.  Keeping it civil, logical, and concise will help us see these endings fixed.

Speaking from personal experience, the flurry of posting I did over the weekend and last night into the wee hours has finally caught up with me, which has made me reticent to post given that I'm liable to make a mistake.  I'll be heading to bed now, so I ask our comrades overseas to hold my spot on the line as well.

That will be a major asset........

Also I said something about getting ahold of Consumer Right's mag??  website and see if they will do something on it if we give them the evidence of lieing about finished product.
