Attention  sedates. Don't you see? The whole point of the post was - "Stop misunderstanding me. Yes, we're listening. Thanks for your feedback." But it was well hidden in wall of text.
And now everyone swallows the same but prettified statement they got for 2 weeks , and feels happy, because of the direct attention.

We are all still very much holding the line, don't get dramatic. And the cooler are heads are the better equiped we will be to keep this movement active in the long term.

I agree that there is a possibilty of a hidden agenda here, but lets not jump at shadows.

@Jessica. At this point all I want is official simple clarifications from Bioware. Right now it just isn't clear that the ending we got was meant to be the real, official ending or if there was something more planned. DLC aside, the insistence that we hold on to our saves ('because if you knew what we had planned...') among connections drawn between pre-release press and additional (Final Hours) content just generates more confusion and speculation.

I'm tired of confusion and speculation. If Bioware has or had something planned, they need to stop stonewalling and let some information go. I feel the longer they stay tight-lipped, the more fuel they're adding to this fire. Despite all the media released by Casey and other Bioware reps, I still can't tell definitively whether the end really was the end or if this really is all part of some larger thing.

The entire gaming world has had a chance to play and most if not all are aware of the controversy at this point. It's time to start clarifying. Hell, I'd be happy with an announcement of when they're going to make an announcement addressing the ending.

It's an unfortunate technical problem that hopefully with be solved. But I sincerely feel there's bigger problems on the table that need to be resolved.

Really? Because I haven't played the game at all, and I won't, without my Shepard. Not being able to play a game that I bought as INTENDED AND ADVERTISED is a little more pressing for me than the ending.

This is something that we can most definitely discuss when the time is right. I've been compiling an excel sheet since before launched (the endings were beginning to be discussed a few days prior to launch) that have questions the community would like answers to. I unfortunately, cannot give you an estimated time of when those will be answered due to various logistical timing reasons (and yes, marketing, PR, and studio buy-in will be important with getting these questions answered in a way that we're all comfortable with).

I know it's hard, but we really appreciate your patience. The studio is very impressed many aspects of the community right now :)

Hello Jessica, ignoring the fact what his statements befor release have been very misleading. I still belive you (writers/producers/QA) made a honest mistake. Hey we are all people, we all do mistakes, and we are all about to forgive them, but the thing about forgiving mistakes, is that person who did it must to acknowledge it first.

Until then there will be only lots of speculations (no pun intended :) ) and not every of them will be very pleasing.

Before I take off the night, I would like to pose a question to Jessica. Now maybe this can't be actually answered and if it can't then by all means say so. I am curious however if there is a real list somewhere at the Bioware office be it on a whiteboard, txt file, yellow note pad or whatever. Of the issues that the vocal fandom seem to have with the ending, or game in general?

That is the biggest reason the ending is a letdown, because you had each of us emotionally invested the entire way.

please forgive me for asking a very naive question, but can please someone explain to me why there are logistics that need to be involved when we are only talking an answer to a question ??

Tis' a fair question, I will admit.

Yes, one I wouldn't mind having an answer for.
But sometimes, I think one must resort to "42"

By no means an expert on this, but i think that we're not just talking about "an answer to a question" here.
If this is to be handled correctly, than things need to be done correctly. How do you make sure things are handled correctly? You plan meetings, and start talking. And you need to do lots of talking and plan lots of meeting to make sure this is resolved in a satisfactory way for the majority of people involved. EA needs to be ok with it, bioware need to be ok with it, the fans who disliked the ending have to like it, and you don't want to disenfranchise people who liked the ending.

Just think about it for a bit, it takes a lot more effort than you'd think on first glance.

THIS. And that's all I can say on the matter :innocent:

Just going to quote and repost, because people won't see it because the forums move so fast. But i think people need to understand that it's actually, legitimately going to take time.

Untill than though, you guys know what to do :P

Good morning Jessica,

I am curious, how do you rate the statistical relevance of the opinion of the 9 into the 90 ? or otherwise Is that what you are expecting the metrics to tell you ?

Cheers and thanks for talking to us.

The very simple problem is that we, as customers, bought a product from Bioware who's ending turned out to be the exact opposite to what we were told it would be.

Sorry but i don't buy all this.
What i see now - people are getting distracted from the REAL issue, and start praising Jessica just for being paid attention to.
That's more that suspicious, sorry.

The REAL issue is that we all want a better, clearer ending for Mass Effect 3 and we're not going away until we do.... But there's no reason to be hostile, rude, unpleasant etc while we wait.

That's not what i meant and i do not inspire hostility towards Jessica or any other representative.
What i meant that now community is relieved - of course because there's a whole big "sedative" post. "They do listen! Everything will be alrigh! Thank you!10000 times thatnk you!"
It's like dipsresing an angry mob with cold water.

Pull out a map, look at where Edmonton is. Look at your clock. Look at the position Ms. Merizan holds (according to her sig).

I'm incredibly doubtful she's on the clock in the wee hours of the morning. This is her talking of her own free will and trying to build some common ground here. The most important asset to us is not the media exposure or recruitment, it's mutual respect between us and the human beings who work for Bioware. Because while yes, they can be told they have to make an alternate ending, it's that mutual respect that will not only allow for quality results if the order is handed down but also what makes them more willing to tell their bosses "maybe we should just give them what they want? It won't take that long".

This is so right! But I'm still here to hold the line for an ending that doesn't insult my intelligence as a consumer/editor and writer.
@Ms Merizan: Thank you again for your answers and that you're still engaded in this discussion atm. And I myself was a member of the so called silent majority (as famous German political scientist Noelle-Neumann called it in Germany, maybe you've herad from her), so maybe the silent majority cares that much about a video game, that they start to make themselves heard.

Same here. I was always a silent lurker. Didn't like the ending of DA2, but it didn't outrage me so I would register at BSN and start posting. And I think there many of us - those who moved from "90%" to the "9%" category.

I was able to reconstruct the ME1 face of my Shepard rather well with my import to ME3.  Perhaps the same could be achieved?

Honestly I'm more concerned with instances of the eyes facing the wrong direction and the head facing the other wrong direction during dialogue if the character is on screen at all than face imports.  I had one scene where three characters were facing every which way but at each other.

love how bw tries to tell us we should seek dialogue but in the same breath they tell us this thread is nonsense.

way to go.

still, hope dies last and while I'm quickly running out of good alternative games to play I'll hope for a better ending.
Which WILL p1ss of bioware..
Or at least a statement about how they're not gonna change a thing
Which WILL p1ss of this "bunch of entitled whiners" that tried holding the line and will go on to greener pastures.

meh.

I'm there with you.  This issue brought me from the 90% to the 9%.  If nothing else, I'm thankful for the chance to discuss some of this with Jessica on twitter and now here.  I question if I would have met the same outreach from another company.

Me too!

@ Jessica: Thanks very much for at least talking to us, Jessica - I can only imagine how long it took to compile that magnificent epistle of yours, while worrying about how it would be analysed and looked at by everyone here. Also given the time of day (if my math is right) and it does show your passion regarding this issue, even if you're on the other side of the fence :)

With regard to said analysis of everything you've posted both here and on Twitter... As others here have already pointed out, the single biggest reason that everything ANY Bioware employee says or posts is analysed to death, is because we've had no other information coming from Bioware as a whole, save for occasional comments about listening to everyone, and collecting data...

I will gladly concede the point that you guys do need that information, but you also said it yourself, there needs to be communication, and most of what we've been given isn't really saying anything that hasn't already been said, unfortunately. For my two cents', I believe that this is what is causing a lot of the... unpleasantness... that's been floating around (hardly the right word to use, given some of the things we've heard and read about).

Isn't there *any* information or update that Bioware can give to the fans? I know that in an ideal world, they'd like to wait until PAX or some other later date before making some kind of statement (and in a perfect world, never having to make such a statement to begin with), but sadly, we don't, and without some kind of update with substance from Bioware, despite everyone's best intentions, things may wind up biting everyone in the rear end...

PS - Interesting take on the 1% principle. I'm not completely sure that its traditional accuracy can be applied in a case like this though, given that the internet is, as an entity, far more fickle than the real world...

I think the direction BioWare is: minimize the controversy, the 3.4 million people who are silent have loved the game, you are the minority.

(I am Italian, I know the method "Berlusconi")

I use it when thinking about community. Again, it's not a hard scientific rule (nothing in sociology is really) but it's a good thing to keep in mind.

Thanks for the answer.

And you are not the only person to study sociology ;)

Frankly I could have done without being forced to read the British Newspapers for a month...although it was always fun to see my (very left wing) lecturers face when I walked through the door with a copy of the Sun and the Times....

Sorry, but you should understand us - we have no official information from Bioware, no response to our demands, so we are analyzing what we have and speculating..

Words like 'demand' etc are not doing us any favours. C'mon all, we have a Bioware rep (in whatever capacity - official or not) actively engaging with us. Lets keep it civil and drop the hostility. Best foot forward and all that :)

Well let's be real here, the word "demand" is simply the term groups and movements use to say "what we want".  It shouldn't instantly be regarded in a negative light.

Exactly. Thanks!
PS. The name of our move: "Retake ME3. Demand a better ending to Mass Effect 3". Do we remember?

That's right, we're only fighting the good fight if we do nothing but post "Hold the line!"

Please, stop.  We were going to have to wait for answers ANYWAYS.  If you think we're going to see progress before PAX, you're naive.  Nobody is going anywhere.  Seriously.  Do you realize how many people won't even see her comments?  It's early in the morning, and by the time the thread starts heating up, the topic will be on something totally different.  Come midday, the majority of posters will only have a vague idea of what discussion took place here.
