All we've really gotten is a nod from BW. It's acknowledgement that there is an issue and that people are thinking/talking about it,
but we're still asking the same questions and we're still desperately hoping for substatial answers that will once again elevate Mass Effect's reputation to previous heights.
The core issues of this situation have not been adressed.Keep articulating your expectations. Keep asking your questions. Keep the pressure on.Think about what you're being told and what you read. Are you still left wondering and wanting, or are you really starting to feel like this might be going somewhere you could happily follow?
Read what you've written before you post it. Take a step back and think to yourself "if someone else had written this, would it have come off as directionless, inflammatory venting, or would it intellgently and articulately add something valuable to the conversation (support for the cause, counterarguments, observations, facts, opinions etc)?"
Be respectful. Be articulate. We've gotten a nod, but now I'm curious to see what further effects, if any, we can have on this process going on behind the scenes at BW. Endings
are important. I think we've proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt. To add to this, this event has become something of a phenomenon. We have industry heavyweights weighing in, non-gaming media following related developments; people are questioning the industry, its processes and mechanics, what video games
are, what they
are not and
what they are worth in a very public manner.
You've made an impact, regardless of the argument you've chosen.Personally, until we get a concrete statement about what the DLC will actually entail, I'll be sticking to my arguments and keeping my fingers crossed that at least some of my expectations are met and my questions answered. 99% of of RM's statement is still smoke and mirrors - nothing has been set in stone. In fact the only word that he really seems to be standing by is "clarification." But it seems to me that many dissatisfied fans are well beyond this. "Clarification" of a sub-par conclusion? Further justification of the current mediocre A, B, and C options probably isn't going to be enough people accept what you've given them at this point.
To Bioware: I make a plea. Give us what you promised from the ending. Endings have
always been important.
To EA: You want to talk bottom line? I'm keeping my money. Give Bioware (hell
any of the studios you own) the resources it needs to be as good as it once was and I'll start buying again. Don't p*ss in our ears and tell us it's raining.
Line held.
