I'm all for a restart of the ME franchise, give the devs a fresh start and something new to work on with a reset in expecations and storyline. I wouldn't mind them wrapping up Shepards story a bit better first though and it'd be nice to see some sort of bridge DLC between ME story lines.
I think that's what the Normandy landing on a remote planet was supposed to do, imho. And I just can't believe as a writer you don't have some idea on how to end your story. They didn't have an outline or a storyboard after all of these years?
It's really the disconnect between the marketing and the product that gets me. Really makes me believe that Casey and Mac put the ending together themselves. If true, it doesn't explain the marketing & the interviews...which is the reason why we're all here.

In Mass Effect, all of my choices throughout the game had a direct effect on how that game ended...it was one of the first games I ever played where I sat, did nothing but go over what it was I was going to do when replaying it for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th play throughs. I still play this game
In Mass Effect 2, I played through it as fast as I could because I NEEDED to see the end...as such I only had 8 members of my crew survive the suicide battle...and the ones that died, nearly destroyed me...I was pausing the game and composing myself before I could continue. I NEEDED to destroy that base as it had destroyed my friends. I replayed this game 3 more times and currently replaying it again with 2 more characters just so I can save everyone again and again and again. I am, it does not need to said, still play this game.
In Mass Effect 3, I finished as fast as I could because I NEEDED to see Shepard win...to do the impossible again. What I got was the same ending given in 16 different, slight variations that ultimately give the galaxy the same overall ending. A game as massive in scope as this was given a SINGLE ending. How could you be surprised at the backlash that your company received? Are you THAT DISCONNECTED with your fans? ME3 did NOT supply us, your loyal fans, with the promises made many times over by your developers over the many months that we waited to play. Every preview, article, demo, screenshot you released only drove us to near hysteria with the need to play this game that promised so much...yet delivered, ultimately, only disappointment. You see, about the only choice one as in regards to the endings of ME3 is choice of color you destroy the galaxy in...I am still playing the Single Player as I want to see the Red ending...and still playing MP as I find it VERY fun. However, I do NOT recommend this series to anyone anymore. I have actually stopped some friends from purchasing it and have sent people to the endings posts on youtube so they don't have to fall in love with the first 99% of the game only to be disappointed by that last 10 minutes.
Now, here is the contructive part...ME2 was a massive game, just like ME3 is. However, there is a MASSIVE difference in what your company chose to do for ME2 vs what you and EA chose for ME3. In ME2 the level of complexity in ending that one could have and what you needed to do or fail to do to get ALL of the endings for ME2 is mind-boggling and it was an example of how high the bar was set for any other company wanting to do a space-opera rpg. ME2's ending is honestly the BEST endings I have ever experienced in ANY game. With ME3, you gave us a single ending...and yes the vast majority of us see it as a single ending. Why did your company do this? After giving us the complexity that is the ending of ME2...to giving us...that disappoint that is the ending of ME3?
Did you set the bar too high for you team doing ME3?
This image has been posted before, but it goes to show the level of complexity that you gave the fans for ME2:

"A few nights ago, I finished Mass Effect 3. As the credits scrolled I again sat silent in the dark, dumbstruck by what I had beheld. Not out of the bittersweet satisfaction that comes with the conclusion to any story, but in the confusion and anger that occurs when you’ve witnessed a crime you could do nothing to stop. "

Just so you guys are aware, my Twitter account will no longer be a place to discuss BioWare (at least for now). If you're following me there and that's the only reason, I suggest unfollowing me.
(snip)
Before I respond to this, let me stand corrected. Part of my point rested on the assumption that Ms. Merizan was a salaried employee and thus was being disingenious when claiming that she was not being paid to tweet about BW and ME. I will, however, stand by my position that her willingness to tweet as a booster for product was the employee equivalent of paying under the table. It wasn't necessary, but if she wasn't going to do it, then someone else who was was going to get the job.
(snip)
"Mattynutz" - I am not disengaging because of people saying mean things to me on my Twitter or in the forums. I can take it. It's not because evil PR told me not to talk anymore or because this is part of the master plan to win your sympathy and attack you when you least expect it. I'm disengaging because of you and people like you. I won't say anything more than that so my words remain untwisted.
For everyone else, we're discussing dinosaurs and puppies on my Twitter if you're interested. You can hold the line and still choose to engage in positive discussion. <3
I am disappointed. Mattynutz was calm and rational in his response to you. In fact, his arguments made a lot of sense and you did not respond to them. I'm surprised that you are disengaging from rational discussion and it is starting to sound like something is not "positive" if someone disagrees with you.
