OK a few things.
I've calmed down, eaten a significant amount of candy, and talked with people about puppies and dinosaurs.
I also apologized to Mattynutz for calling him out on this thread for behavior even if I don't agree with it. Regardless of how I feel, I'm still advocating for Matty and everyone else, and I don't want anyone to think otherwise. I forgot that many of you don't see me as a friendly galpal community manager and are automatically distrustful.
The reason I came BACK is to tell you that my interaction with you guys has derailed this thread and I'd like for you guys to get back to the subject at hand. Please don't quote or discuss this, as it will just further keep things off track.
Also live commenting on some random person's livestream about their ending is also not on topic.
I will continue to engage with positive people (you can still hate the endings or be part of Retake and be constructive) because it's not fair to shut myself off just because of a small proportion of people who don't like what I'm doing.
Now, IGNORE ME (woo Venture Brother's reference - yup 9% strong here!)
I am now ignoring you.

Let's not get off topic here. This thread is about Retake. Not your rebuttals to the indoctrination theory. I'm requesting that you take that down to keep oppossers and believers of the theory on topic. Thank you.SoraStrife wrote...
I hate to shamelessly plug myself, but I made a post about *link removed* I thought some people in this thread might be interested in it. Be warned it uses ancient religion as an example, so go in with an open mind, I didnt mean to offend anyone.
Stay focused! Hold the line!

Please consider that maybe SOME BIOWARE WRITERS WANT A "NEW" ENDING TOO.
This article has the details on a Bioware writer allegedly posting stuff (now deleted) on the Penny Arcade forums about disagreements within the writing team. Obviously the official word is that someone was impersonating the writer.
BUT!
BUT!
But let's try and work under the assumption that right now there's internal debate within Bioware. Bioware is a big company and the Mass Effect team consists of many writers. We gain nothing by being jerkfaces. Plus, if we act like jerks we might be weakening the positions of sympathetic people within Bioware.
Stay calm, y'all.
Another one on that topic.

I hope Bioware buys the hijacked account story.
This was confirmed fake in another thread by Christ Priestly, Bioware Staff.

That quote from Patrick has been established as fake, according the Chris. He said he physically went and asked Patrick about it.
I hate to say that Mr. Priestly claiming that it is not real is not really a credible source He is an employee of EA/Bioware and in that capacity, he is quite biased.
So until it is confirmed by someone else, like a mod on the PA forums, then I will take what Mr. Priestly says with a grain of salt.
I am reluctant to go this route on this one. All obvious evidence points to this just being a troll. A troll that knows how to capture the spirit of the moment, but a troll nonetheless. I mean, the co-founder of the company just came out earlier today and put up a "everyone stands behind this game" post, I don't see why a single writer would risk the damage to his career that would come from breaking the party line at this time. Later, maybe? Sure. Just not now.

I think maybe the point she's making is being missed. She's saying she doesn't want to engage in any discussion suggesting that this is all some kind of PR stunt out to manipulate the fanbase. She's put forward that this isn't true, and that going down that road is destructive. Mattynutz crossed right back into that discussion and so she responded saying that she wasn't going to engage and that this sort of thing is what shut down other elements of our interaction with her and BioWare. Mattynutz is welcome to his/her opinion, but the way they approached it certainly wasn't useful.
I'm sort of confused by this whole idea. She works for a department that is resposible for liasing with the community. She may not be corporate PR, but she is most certainly community PR. What is wrong with people trying to analyse the PR response from Bioware? It's not like we were talking to a writer or a programmer. Communicating with us is part of her day job, even if talking to us on her personal twitter is not.
Exactly, she should be triple reading her writing before answering us because some of her language makes me feel like I'm being talked down by a high school teacher. I am tired of people from Bioware complaining about deconstructive criticism when most of us have been calm and nice about this. It is annoying that they concentrate on that particular subgroup of people who insult them and not thank the people who have tried to give them constructive criticism.

Well, the best way to do it would be to go out into the BSN and remind everyone that it's what got us here. I'm sure if enough people buy in that it will propagate from there.

She's done a lot of good for us, she keeps documentation of the types of things we would like changed about the ending and gets them to the various departments. She has tried hard to make sure we are heard. She stopped posting ME related matters on her twitter as she was sick of people reading into every little thing she posts over and over. I think we should stop. I read her posts from her earlier and judge her to be an honest, fair minded person doing a very difficult job and we paint ourselved in a bad light when we continue to find an arguement as to why it's OK for us to troll her.
I guess we are talking about two different things here. I've made no efforts to troll her, and I do not approve of anyone else doing so. She responded to many of my tweets in a reasonably forthright way, and she seems a geniune person.
I think that's part of the problem. Corporate PR is what it is. The crisis management that is going on is fairly obvious. But it seemed like people wanted to assume that Jessica was some sort of evil arm of that PR machine. She's not. That's not really her job description.
Her job is to listen and sympathize and try and keep people happy and engaged. If people want to get mad a being spoken to in corporate doublespeak, then the subject of their ire should be the statements from Mr. Hudson & Mr.
Senior Vice President and General Manager of the BioWare Label of Electronic Arts.

Just keep the twitter and letter campaigns going, and wait for opportunities to present themselves (IGN spoilercast on ending, media coverage, etc.). But the most important thing you can do is remain civil, and spread the message to anyone else who is NOT civil.joshko wrote...

i think its pretty funny how people say to stay on topic in this thread, if we literally did that we would discuss nothing but PR and then the thread would be closed because it wasn't a game play discussion. however discussing someones GAMEPLAY is somehow off topic lol
I think it's important to note at this time that there are 3 really big threads on the BSN, this one, the Child's Play one, and the one with the title like, "so we can't have the endings we want" or whatever. Only two of these actually satisfy the original intent of this board, storyline discussion. I think that treading on the mods good graces in this manner might be detrimental. We have some level of protection in that we've managed to keep on topic and civil, and that killing this or the Child's Play thread would probably be akin to PR suicide, but if we get crazy then they will shut us down anyway.
In my humbe opinion we should move on to more constructive, thread-related topics.

Eh, I will stay suspicious. That line from Dr. Ray could be as much PR as the rest of his little letter.
