I dont know if this was in reply to my post, but assuming it is I disagree a bit.

Sites like metacritic and amazon were bombed with hundreds of bad reviews--far more than would be moved by a good game to simply go and score it. If we expect bioware to make these changes to the ending, we have to say that (assuming the content addressees all our concerns) we will work to reverse the damage. This is a give and take and if we are not willing to deal with them then what motivates Bioware to give any of us What we want?

I'm new to this thread and haven't read all 400 pages, but I would certainly be willing to adjust my Metacritic score if  the endings are satisfactorily fixed.  Does Metacritic actually allow you to adjust your score?  I gave it a 6 due to the endings and the MP requirement to get the 'last breath' option.  How do you change your score, if necessary?

Well, I for one would be more than happy to delete / rewrite my negative reviews, if they deliver the multitude of endings they had promised us.

Then again, if this is give and take, let me put it differently:

"I am deeply saddened by the way an ardent minority of Writers has decided to ruin a game that I would otherwise consider the greatest achievement in Biowares History.
But I humbly accept that some people felt the necessity to see a great story crash and burn at the last moment, and will therefore try to find a balance between the integrity of my heartfelt anger and their sales figures.
Rest assured that I am working hard on this; the reasoning behind my 2 star reviews will receive further clarification. You'll be hearing more from me in April."

Don't worry about the hold the line movement. Even if it should get a little bit quiet, this would just be for a short amount of time.

Imagine they will fail to give a pleasing statement at PAX - the whole rage will start again.

And, as I pointed it out earlier, they will get into trouble with Legendary Pictures. Don't know if I would want to make a movie about the "great game with the horrible ending".

Too bad the movie would be a bit more expensive than the game. So either EA invests 1-3 Millions for a good DLC (for this amount of money I'm sure you can expect something impressive) and secure the possible 100-150 Mio. Investion in the movie.

i believe the movie the movie will be done by Uwe Boll. So EA/BW dont have to pay anything he even will come up with his own ending

@LdyBelial you are certainly not alone, well written, heartfelt, nice job.

Hold The Line!

@StJonofPDX because this is the same ending that was in the leaked script and in parentheses it said (like Deus Ex) I, like so many others, ran to the forums to complain. Unfortunately, I read all 900+ pages, but we were assured by Chris Priestly and Jessica M. that this was a beta script and things would change. The ending certainly didn't and as I was looking over some of the comments on that thread today, I came across this ...

"I wonder, just how Bioware can get away with an ending that essentially makes the goal of the Collectors and the entire plot of Mass Effect 2, pointless. I wonder how much creative freedom EA actually took from the development team in order to create a game that "appeals to a wider audience". Some of you may need to get a grip. If you do not demand quality, then companies will not produce it. It's the basics of Capitalism. Buy quality, and quality will be produced. The same can be said for the other end of the spectrum.

Read the spoilers for yourselves, or wait for the disappointment in March. It's your choice."

Shortly after that Chris P. shut the thread down and encouraged us to move to the non-spoiler one he created.

Several pages back a few people also remarked about the 1-Star Amazon reviews, I admit, I added to that group, I also purchased my XBox 360 Collector's Edition from them. But here's why. Amazon is a retail site. Many of us who spoke out and favored a 1-star review also gave the "Fun to Play" 4-5 stars. It simply is a way of saying to others if you are thinking about purchasing the game beware the ending is awful. I already knew the ending and was still heartbroken when it actually occurred. Could I honestly recommend this game to a friend as Dr. Ray said on the "whole" of it? Not likely, unless I plead with them ... Don't go into the light!

So in the end I, for one, have no one to blame but myself. I was the one who trusted them again.

Thank you dafangirl!  Your support is more then welcome but heartfelt and warm... as is all of you who are in this fight with me!!!

But I also want to say -- No you don't have to blame yourself!  This bad is on BioWare.  They went against the very fiber of the series with that ending.  You held your faith that they would "see the light".

This one is on them.

I was too short with my answer, so a few more words on that. I suspect reviews can recover to some extent, but it would require one hell of a dlc. If they phone in something, well, ye.

Well said and I am holding the ,line until we get new endings that let us see the light and I hope other are too.  i will not be downloading DLC that is just an extended version of the endings we have.  I want the endings that reflect the choices I made that I was told would be in this game.  Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

If only the Normandy moved as fast as this thread it may have outrun the space magic....

Gonna try and catch up on all this but just checking in to start the shift on the line.

Some really interesting posts these last few pages, but nice to see still going civil!

This is one of the things that bugs me the most.  The Collectors just look silly now, and I LOVED the Collectors.  In fact, I'd go back and play ME2 to ease the pain if it weren't for the stench of StarBaby lingering.

HOLD THE LINE!!!

Also I won't stop repeating this. "Artistic integrity" is a beautiful PR idea that seems to work. The one thing that no one seems to notice is this - any form of art must archive the status of an art not by declaring it by the author(s). Tolkiens "Lord of the Rings" is not a masterpiece because he went into Eagle and the Pen at Oxford and said "Well - I've done it - this is art and a masterpiece". No music, painting, book or sculpture can be an art if people say - it is a piece of a crap.
We are telling BIOWARE - your almost piece of art, a masterpiece, is flawed!!! The last thing, the final touches that you needed to make - you blew it.
Correct it and you can finally start make arguments about "artistic integrity".
This ending is rushed, has no sense and is in pieces glued together using the Force.

In case you guys haven't noticed, the charity drive is winding down, apparently at the request of the Child's Play people, apparently because they've come under scrutiny due to people misunderstanding the charity and thinking the charity shares the same goals as the Retake movement.

I'm pretty sad that misinformation from media hyping this stuff up and painting us as the badguys is effectively costing sick children charity and entertainment. Figured this was pertinent to mention over on this thread, what with it all being about PR, and PR being responsible for the early shut down.

So?

Who cares about them? We should stop helping children just because they don't want us to?

Ya, we are the evil ones.

Jessica Merizan is irrelevant.

Yes, she is.  Has nothing to do with this thread.  Well, unless you count it as PR.  :)

Word. What purpose does she serve other than trying to put a human face on Bioware and collect feedback? No one should care about this.

Is she going to make the final decision on whether or not the end is fixed? No. She claims to collect data and feedback. Okay, so why does she need to post and tweet about it? All she has to do is collect the data (read posts) and stay quiet. There's already a stickied thread to make her job easier.

Ignore her. All she's trying to do is make people feel guilty for being upset with the ending.

Why do I think EA is behind those media stories?  It seems Ea and Bioware would rather lie to fans and hurt sick kids.  I had mega corporations.

To be fair, this isn't EA's fault, it's the fault from completely irresponsible media who can't be bothered fact-checking before pushing articles out to demonize gamers. So yanno, nothing new there, they've never needed EA to paint us as overly entitled, bottom feeding basement dwellers.
