Look at the thread that Bioware started that states "We are listening...".
It starts by saying that they are listening to what people have to say. No statement as to whether they actually intend to do anything, but they will listen.
Then it states "Now lets give thanks to Shepard. What was your favorite Shepard moment?"
Give me a break. The whole "give thanks" to a fictional character is frankly insulting. On top of it, this is a clear attempt to deflect the thread into something that is praising the game, instead of the thread's stated purpose of being a place to provide feedback to Bioware on its failure to address the wants of the customer base.
And what's worse is that a number of people got suckered by it. They actually started posting about things they liked about Shepard.
I posted my disgust in that thread. It was sickening to see people get so duped by the "give thanks to a fictional character" nonsense.

I've no intention of loading up Mass Effect 3 on my PC until this fiasco gets sorted out, don't fall into this little trap, the best thing that could happen for us is for this challenge to not be passed. Show them that people are genuine in their feelings about the ending and desire to see it changed.

Then you are weak willed and Shepard would be disappoint. Well, the Shepard from ME1, 2, and 3 until the star child. You know, where he submitted like a female dog in heat.

I was a little nicer and did share some good moments funny thing is that it shows the desperation of the mods to control the forums, not working since we have our own pr people warning us against this tactics.
See this thread for what sleezy pr tactics we need to be aware off read that post it´s really interesting.

I have commented on the boards a few times as someone totally unimpressed with the endings. But the OP is completely correct. I have also worked PR before. What the OP said holds true for politics, corporations, and any other group where public opinion matters. And I am reminded of something I believe in but forget often... we are not hurt by what others do but by our reaction to them. Honestly, the ending should only have bothered anyone for the five minutes it ran. Any more negativity since then is our own doing. If Bioware or anyone else dissappoint you so much that you lose control of your own emotions... then you simply cut them off. I'm going to take my own advice. Ciao.
I have to say that I disagree with this position. The issue here is really not so much the end as the expectations that had been established by Bioware for ME3 and the fact that the game did not even come close to meeting them. That was deceitful on the part of Bioware and that is the real cause of the uproar.
If Bioware had marketed ME3 as "The final stage of the ME series in which all your prior actions come to nothing and the universe is for the most part destroyed by forces beyond your control. Enjoy a tearful good bye to your universe, your team and your LI as you see the world burn" then no one would have a right to complain about the game. And, in fact, there would have been no uproar because people's expectations would have been met.
As it is, the marketing for ME3 coupled with the known aspects of ME1 and ME2, gave a distinct impression of what would be in the game that was incorrect. There was no resolution to most of the questions. One's past actions had no real impact on the game play, and only an indirect and mostly invisible impact on what the final cut-scenes would look like. There was no final climactic battle. No final foe to overcome. No victorious ending. These were all aspects that could reasonably be expected from ME3 given ME1/ME2 and the manner in which ME3 was marketed. Bioware knew this as well as their marketing efforts clearly played into these themes (and after 5 years of feedback from the customers on the ME series, they knew full well what made the games popular).
So the outrage is that Bioware deliberately delivered a product under false pretences. That is something be fight against, because if we don't, we will be taken like this over and over again.

They are just trying to wear down the people who don't like the ending; or turn them rabid (to make them seem irrational)..
Hold..the...line!

Yup, that's what I've been doing. It's been nice, being immersed in sci-fi stories that stay true to their initial themes throughout THE ENTIRE SERIES.Jack_Forest wrote...

I saw the original post and I quited on saying that is exactly what is happening right now but this also means they play quite the gamble. If they can't pull it off with this PR stunt...they will suffer a lot more than this.
It all depends on people who are ''awakened '' by this betreyal to hold their ground and show Bioware that this won't just blow over until they do something about it !

If there is one thing I like less that being misled - (that my choices would actually matter) - it's being handled like some some fringe lunatic, throwing a tantrum. I'm very close to being done with BioWare altogether... whether they release a "fix" to the ending, or not.
I am done. Now I just want to see the endings fixed for everyone else. So you can imagine my disgust when I see these people being so easily distracted by something like this.

yup. I never expected this nonsense from Bioware. EA should rot and burn. they turned the one bit of rpg story telling genius left into a husk of their reaper cause. if you know what i mean... they killed and did not deliver on any of their promises

I just fell off my chair laughing lol but to be fair, I did spend $80 on the CE, and I'm far to depressed to go for another playthrough. All thats left is the multiplayer.
