A somewhat naive question:

If they are so concerned with search engine results, why has this community not taken the discussion to another forum? BioWare presumably can (and does) prevent indexers from picking up the feedback given here...

I feel sorry for the flack that the rank and file development team are getting. They did a fantastic job that's been undone by a highly puzzling decision.

It had to have been obvious that it was coming though surely?

Called into a local retailer and just saying "Mass Effect" oh boy were there not happy faces. Asked if people were trading in copies of the game and it turned out that plenty of disappointed people were, they were going right back out again, literally from one set of hands to another. Money that's not going to EA/Bioware. Mentioned SWTOR and they just laughed as they didn't have much luck convincing people to try that either due to current negative perception.

I really hope that the high ups realise that taking fans for granted and forgetting that first and foremost we are customers was a pretty foolish move.

It would be unreasonable to expect a solution by April unless they had already been working on it for a number of months. A solution though would be a good move to make. Communication though is vital.

Holding the line, even if I have nothing constructive to contribute to what has been said before. Just this damn lump in my throat that refuses to go away. So I am holding the goddamn line here.

For someone who has little to no understanding of this PR-stuff this is certainly a
fascinating read.

Mr Lee, you are a good guy. But until we get the endings the series deserves, we will have to hold the line. We are not trying to make life hard for you or Bioware, but we are doing what has to be done.

I will be patient, but I'll make my pushes regardless.

Interesting info about PR damage control, thanks.

And I would also like some other endings, even if I would need to pay for the DLC :(

Also, must say thanks to Jarrett for his replies and honesty. I'm sure it's been a rough week for him and many others at Bioware. I really don't believe they expected the kind of controversy that has arisen from the endings and I believe he is being honest. We have to remember that the employees for Bioware are people too. I can imagine many of them are feeling as sick as some of the fans over all this.

I think that brings up the old question asked again and again. "How could anyone have thought the ending was a good idea?" (or variations of said question). The majority of public opinion seems to hate the ending overall.

A) was Bioware and its employees really that out of touch with the majority of their fanbase?
B) As it is supposibly the final game of the ME setting did Hudson, Mac, etc just say to hell with it lets end by destroying 80% of the ME universe so people will polarize/speculate?
c) Were Bioware employees that scared to speak up and say the ending had problems that they didn't or did some actually speak their concerns just to be drowned out by Hudsons insistance that players didn't need to know and that a extra 5 mins explaination / answer was too long for people that had been playing since ME1 to deal with?

Lastly why the lies that ME3 would have multiple endings were your actions actually had a effect not just one red/green/blue ending were nothing you did in game really ment anything?

First let me say I am as dissapointed as almost everyone here, but not just with the "endings" but with every mission after and including Thessia. I feel a ton of inconsistencies and plot holes were left out and that in turn resulted in less interesting and more linear missions that didnn't even have paragon/renegade choices.
Now to address your concerns with my own personal opinions after playing some vids and walkthroughs from those final missions and the endings.

A) I believe Tuchanka and Rannoch show that Bioware really knew what the hardcore fanbase wanted to see resolved, those major conflicts provided very diverse ways of solving them and harsh consecuences either way.
B) They wanted some speculation I am sure but not of this kind, I believe they were expecting people to start asking about Omega or Ilium or maybe even Palaven and Earth so that in turn would lead to clear DLCs and more income from the game.
C) As has been said before, it all comes down to hard currency. Any statement acknowledging any type of error or omission with the game as how it is right now will have a negative impact on sales regardless of any promise of fixes. Think about it, let's say you are not sure about buying then you read on the web they are going to fix the game's ending by DLC so you say "oh well I'll wait for the price drop and the DLC until I buy it" and that would be the smart way to go about it. When the Day One DLC controversy started that is what I advised people, "don't buy it now, wait for reviews on the dlc and then decide if the CE or the standard without DLC are worth it". I guess the ones that listened to my advice are probably grateful right now and will wait even further until this ending situation is resolved. Also you have to remember these people work for a corporation, any statement has to go through PR approval and they can't talk about this or any other project without the bosse's consent or risk getting fired and losing their source of income.

Lastly I do believe it was their intention all along to have a truly epic ending for the series full of choices and consecuences that could shatter the ME universe like the aforementioned Tuchanka or Rannoch BUT they probably couldn't meet the deadline and, unlike companies like Blizzard, they can't push back an established deadline because again the boss is the one that has the final word there so they had to "improvise" and streamline the final parts of the game.
It is a damn shame yes but now the battle has to be to prove to EA that sales and hard currency WILL suffer and not only here but across every Bioware game.
I for one will NOT buy any DLC Bioware offers or MP content unless a free DLC ending is provided, I have cancelled my TOR account and would not buy any more games developed by Bioware and hope everyone takes a similar stance.

I'm not sure whether I find this funny or just upsetting.  I've been part of various protests in my life for human rights, gay rights, etc.  It is an old tactic, especially in the case of sit-ins, lock-ins and other forms of peaceful protest: Starve them out.  Let them fall into desperation and in fighting and then wave a sandwich in front of them.  The sandwich may look good, but it's the carrot on stick.  Don't fall for it

I'm not a fan of multiplayer for the most part, so this event is just kind of going in one ear and out the other by default, but keep holding the line.  We can do this...

Man..now I want a sandwich... O.O..... Dammit!!
