Atghunter, I've seen alot of people cancelling their Star Wars: Old Republic accounts in protest. I would like your opinion on whether or not you see this as a valid and viable tactic. Do you think it helps or hurts this movement?

For my take (not even from a PR view but just from just being a consumer), actions like this are always viable responses.  It is one of the many ways customers vote with their wallets.  The effect though would seem to be hard to measure (especially from this past weekend with the free SW promo) so it may be a week or two before even EA would have data.  And they definitely won't let you know you're having an impact.  Statements, a common voice, efforts like Take Back all are pieces on the chessboard.  Likewise, expressing displeasure individually towards a company through refusing to solicit them (even for services you might otherwise purchase) so long as the company knows you are no longer soliciting the service out of protest (sending them an accompanying e-mail, etc explaining your action) is another potential piece.

And, of course, as I've said before, whether or not, it's to be done, I'll differ to collective discussions and individual decisions

Hope that helps!

Holding the line. Talked another person out of buying the game.

Please continue to hold the line as long as it takes people.

Well, Amazon is down to 2 stars.   561 reviewed, yes a drop in the bucket, but interesting.

don't forget, there are also payed reviewers on Amazon, don't know if it's true for ME, but since EA is business, no reason for them not to use a common praxis for internet age.

(pasted from elsewhere) Also, we ideally need a website or some forum somewhere that updates can be posted in the form of news articles on the main page for fans to check regularly that won't get swamped under a barrage of new topics, especially if for whatever reason their PR guys decide to insist on trying to shut down outlets and topics here to block everyone's attempts at organising (it'd probably be a bad move, but it might be attempted on the offchance it'd destroy our ability to organise) on these forums.

We have made it to CNN in their videogame segment(on tv). They voiced our displeasure of the ending. They were very respectful of us.

Hmmm, I should have checked this thread long ago. I've gotten pretty fed up with all the rage-hate on the endings and the lack of civility in general especially in the spoiler free zone. I chalked it up to just being too old and crotchety about how you youngsters have a me first mentality. You folks have it going on here though, I like how you're going about this.

I love BioWares stuff and so eagerly await their games. They do everything right for my tastes, ya know. And I don't mind the endings so much, they were poor but the rest of the game overshadows it so much it doesnt bother me a great deal. The review bombings just break my heart.

I hope you all can continue to do this constructively and get some sort of satisfactory response. Just please try not to mortally wound the only game developer that really does it right for me, okay? :-) And if there's a section of the line thats specifically for expressing disgust in the MP being necessary for one of the SP endings, I'll actually help that section to....Hold...The...Line.

From one old gamer to another, most welcome.  I've spent most of the last 24 hours on this thread amazed at the civil, passionate, and galvanized nature of the people here.  I think you'll like it here.  I sure do.

I agree with every single word! Don't play MP, if you must play SP offline so they can't track you. Send these a-holes a message!

Please don't use name calling in your fervor. It accomplishes nothing and it is very rude. =3

Well they did have that moment of incredulity when the person mentioned the average age of gamers was 35, something along the lines of "That's twice the age we thought it'd be". But that's generally to be expected with mainstream media outlets like cnn.

Y'know what? I am going to keep holding that line for as long as it takes, but no matter the outcome, I am damn proud to have stood shoulder to shoulder with you guys. I've not seen a disparate group of gamers pull together like this since... well... ever, and that's one thing we can always take away with us, no matter how this turns out.

Holding the line, and damn proud of us all, whether we like the ending or not, for holding true to this sci-fi universe we love so much.

This. If you folks don't have a communication base to fall back to, just in case, I'd make it a high priority soon.

I have been watching this thread, some of you know me, some of you don't, I am one of the organizers of the RetakeME3 Charity Drive Cell. I have noticed here and in other places many people saying soon they will depart because they can only care about a game for so long. To this I must say, don't, please. Remember why you came here in the first place, remember why you started this fight and more than that, think of future gaming generations. Do you want to send the message that this kind of ending is okay? I don't. Remember the adventures you had with Shepard and Company, remember the emotions the games brought forth in you and then remember the ending, re-ignite your righteous fury and take you're place in the line, if not even for yourself then for your brothers and sisters in arms! Stand and fight!

Hold The Line, Comrades!
~R

Edit: This is a Tiny Chat, it is not another web site but we are in the process of setting that up as we speak! http://tinychat.com/RetakeMassEffect3

I'm not sure whether to be disgusted or disappointed at all the patting-on-the-back you're giving yourselves.

I'll be honest: I'm one of the people who enjoys the endings and finds them satisfactory.  And contrary to the OP, I neither spew vitrol nor hateful comments at those who disagree.  I feel that everyone is entitled to their opinion over how they feel over the endings.

But to claim that the people who are "pro-endings" are people who spew vitrol and insults and are "converted" to your argument feels grossly pretentious.  If anything, what I see is the opposite.  Tens of threads are of folks claiming how much they despise the endings, and a chorus of agreements and support.

But god forbid you make a thread stating with any certainty that you felt okay or happy with the endings.  In that event, people from your camp bear down on them with flames and insults about the level of intelligence or lack of good taste on the part of people in the pro-ending camp, regardless of the arguments and points presented.  I've been personally attacked and insulted repeatedly for my views, whereas I've never said a word against the anti-ending crowd, except to say that the reaction after only being 12 days post-release is a little much.

And this Child's Play Charity?  While definitely for a good cause, isn't for the right reasons.  You're not donating to the charity because you want to donate to the charity, which happens to be related to a product you enjoy.  You're all donating to the charity under some belief that your donated money will do anything to change Bioware's mind.  Child's Play would've -never- gotten this kind of money were it not for what happened, which should say something.

People in your camp like Angry Shepard, who downplay or ridicule anyone who doesn't believe as you believe doesn't do anything to help your cause either.  And this idea that everything Bioware says or does is PR damage control?

I don't mean to come into your thread and rant.  I realize that, amidst the small but incredibly vocal crowd of the anti-ending camp, I likely won't be heard or even registered by anyone.  Especially not the devs.  The 'Tragedy of the Commons' is in full effect with me right now.  But to see that people like myself get inappropriately labeled for the fact we hold an opposing view is beyond aggravating.  And maybe I am overreacting.  But to display yourselves as though you are fighting some kind of war of attrition against anyone, as though you were fighting a semi-losing battle?

It just feels pretentious.

You maynot have personly attacked anyone from are side but others on your side have & both sides are guilty of that, just like there are a lot of people out there that try to lable up as whiners & the likes. It is not fair for the people on both side as there are people that have been expressing there veiws without the personal attacks but the one thing we can all agree on is are love & passion for the game.

Bioware is still one of my favorite developers and I hope Bioware and we can comes to some sort of middle ground before it lasts so long that it's too late for them to earn money on the game.
By middle ground I think the realistic thing would be that if they do release content that provides better ending and conclusion, then we don't get it for free but rather pay a couple of bucks for it.
It's not the ideal thing for both parts, as they probably don't want to make the endings and we want it for free, but it'd be a middle ground we could agree on.
