Has there been any word from BW about it being impossible to get 4000 w/o MP?

I got a response to my PM from one of Bioware guys that he will look into it. I guess it will take some time...
They have also removed Jarrett's sticky, so it's encouraging.

Thank you, Kub666, for posting this information. At least it's something and I'm glad to see you got a reply. :-)

(I had just been searching for that sticky, since I couldn't recall if it was called EMS - silly me, I only had to look in this thread...slapping my face afterwards)

Occulo wrote...People are angry because they have to resort to playing multiplayer to access singleplayer content. And for the Xbox 360, you have to pay to be able to play multiplayer.

What happens when EA drops support for ME3 servers? Then you have no choice but to modify your game saves to access a singleplayer part of the game.

This. The multiplayer isn't bad, but what happens once nobody is playing in a few months/years and the servers are shut down? Multiplayer making a possible ending impossible to get is absolutely ridiculous and should not be tolerated.

Mass Effect has been Single Player for the previous two. The addition of gimmicks such as the iOS and MP stuff makes the game feel like someone tacked on gimmicks to appeal to a larger crowd than the niche of story-driven action games that ME1/2 targeted.

Now, the issue is the promise that someone can reach the "good" ending without MP is the bigger issue.

I've been through the Wikia site and could not get 8000 War Assets. I created a spreadsheet showing what assets precluded what other assets. Trying to optimize the choices for the most assets still fell way short of 8000.

This makes single-player story-drive action audiences that the previous two targeted forced to generic multiplayer grinds with no real story.

Eh I started a thread about this weeks ago, was PMed saying they'd look into it and haven't heard anything so...

I mean I don't mind multiplayer and even think the way it was integrated into single player was genius.  But the problem is the balancing of the numbers.  MP should be a way to avoid having to be completionist if you just want to play the main story.  But the way it stands now even single player completionists don't have adaquete assets to achieve every permutation of the ending, and that's the problem.

In short:  The problem is how the numbers work out, which would have been an easy change (just increase across the board how much single player war assets are worth) not the existence of multiplayer in ME3 itself.

I really do not understand why people are so mad about this. Give the MP a try, it's great.

I would like to but it seems you need xbox gold to be able to play mp correct?  I am not going to get a subscription to gold just to try multiplayer.  (Which I think I might enjoy)

Just a friendly suggestion; read the thread and you will get your answer. :)

Well i live in a part of the country where you can't get highspeed of any kind so I can;t "give Mp a try". I didn't go into this blind I read every interview, every product description, and all the fine print on my PC version's box and none of it said anything about needing MP to get Sp endings so I am mad.

I stand with the no multi-player required people. They need to make the Galactic Readiness multiplier = 1.000, not .500. or at least a minimum of .750. I really like the multi-player, though. It is fun.

I live in a semi-rural area that just got a decent internet service. I've got a fantastic FIOS connection now, but suffered with dialcrap and later with a low rate cable. A lot of people still have low rate DSL and dialup. If one of them is hosting, my connection is horrid. Some use satellite. Satellite for MP sucks. There's too much latency. Then there's the desynching stuff that happens.

So they need to make it so that one doesn't have to play it, but that one can play it if they want to.

Just throwing in my support. I use data pad to keep my rating up, but it shouldn't be necessary.

But you still need an Internet connection, right?

Yes.

And the ability to withstand repeated mindless grinding with no story to play your single-player story-driven game to its fullest potential.

This issue is scandalous. I like ME3 MP but I don't think it must be required to get the best possible ending.

Oh did they?  That's excellent.  From some of the back-and-forth that I've seen between the devs and players in various threads, it seems like they didn't realize that it was a problem.  Not sure how they missed it (it seems to be pretty simple math), but it appears like it'd be an easy enough fix.

I really hope it isn't a case of "buy our Take Back Omega DLC so you can get those extra 300 EMS points that you need to get the "good" ending."

I don't buy it as anything other then PR spin until, the patch is released. Sorry but Bioware has lied too many times and I don't trust them any more.
