Has there been any word from BW about it being impossible to get 4000 w/o MP?

I had just shy of 5500 but my readiness was 50% and I didn't mess up a great deal.

Screenshot or it didn't happen. Are you sure your EMS was that high? Or were you looking at TMS?

I had over 5000 my first playthrough, and I didn't touch multiplayer until I was half way through my second playthrough. So you can get over 50% without it :/ Of course, I had carried over my Shepard from ME1 and ME2...
Did you carry over your Shep from ME1 or ME2? It could be very possible that new Shepards in ME3 cannot get over 4000 without MP...

EDIT: 5000 was probs my TMS, thinking back. I'll go check my save and see what me EMS was.

@Saul Iscariot: No you didn't have 5500 EMS. You're mistaken or lying.

@Lancergirl: Nope. You are probably confusing EMS and TMS.

I believe it's possible to get 8k war assets (so 4k EMS), but it requires a VERY specific paragade path and a lot of import bonuses - hope you like planet scanning!

What happens in a few years from now when we want to play but there are no servers left up for mp?

Yup, can plainly see it was TMS. My bad. I can't even really check the initial EMS, cause my readiness is up to 97% now :/

@Phydeaux314 It has been shown to be impossible, even with an imported character, and even with a new game +. PS3 users would be screwed if it depended on imports, anyway, as would any newcomer to the series (honestly they got screwed anyway, the default choices are awful).

Ugh. This makes me want to replay ME3 even less. There are many good parts to the game, but a pointless game is pointless. :(

@Lancergirl No problem, it's horribly explained in the game, so it's an easy mistake. To find what your EMS would be without multiplayer, just divide your TMS by 2.

Hmm...BW staying strangely quiet on this. Just like all their other promises. I am stunned.

The most I could get my EMS up to was 3200 at 50%. I thought I missed a ton of stuff but turns out everyone else had this problem too. Bioware should really just get rid of the "Galactic Readiness" percentage...or at least let there be a way to increase it in SP alone. Not everyone has iOS devices or access to a good enough internet connection to facilitate MP.

Same here, I maybe had 3400 EMS, but no more and I have many many imported Shepards.

No, you can't do it. I think the most EMS without multiplayer I've ever got was around 3400-3600. That's doing all side quests in every ME game. Say what you will about the ending, but getting the best possible ending without multiplayer was something that was specifically asked for by fans and specifically confirmed by BioWare to be possible. What a joke. I think I'll believe the opposite of what they say from now on.

Just to clarify my EMS was about 2700 or slightly under, 5500 approx was my overall total.

After installing the game, I have played solely single player. I have played multiplayer after finishing the game (still, I haven't promoted any of the classes, so only my GR should be affected). I am not sure about the numbers, but as far as I remember I got EMS above 4k for sure. I even wonder whether it wasn't above 4.5k, because I was wondering if I can get 5k without the multiplayer. I can check as I get home and post a screenshot. ;)

Well, it'll be GameStop's problem. If there's no intention of fixing the ending, I'll drop all 3 games for credit towards AC3. Then I'll be done with EA, BioWare, and all its core staff.

I played a completionist game with an ME2 "everyone is alive and loyal" import and got about 7400 TMS (equals 3700 EMS without MP). I may have missed a few TMS points here and there but I'm pretty sure I didn't miss 600.

Also for everyone: what we're talking here is a total score of 8000 TMS. That's the target number which would amount to 4000 EMS with ME3 SP only and no external applications. To avoid confusion, just use the 8000 TMS as the target number.

No announcement yet that I'm aware of; it would -appear- that Bioware's stated promise that it would be possible to get "the best" ending was based on their opinion that Synthesis was "the best" ending.

Better, apparently, than the one where Shepard lives.

And yes, that's more than a little bit bonkers.

I assume this is something they'll fix with the next DLC. It's not too tough to add another 700 points of military strength.

That's been my assumption since as well.  More wiggle room for Bioware.  "Best ending" doesn't have to mean the "ending which requires the highest EMS to achieve".  Is it implied?  Of course!  Otherwise it's a nearly meaningless statement.  But is it locked down so Bioware can't back out of it?  Nope.

Just like "16 different endings" doesn't have to mean 16 different ending cutscenes if by "ending" you include "whether you saved the Collector Base or not" or "whether TIM offed himself or not".
