Has there been any word from BW about it being impossible to get 4000 w/o MP?

Incorrect - I rewrote the Heretics and saved both the Quarians and the Geth.  Futhermore, the Geth are stronger this way.  And you still have the Quarians.

I assume this is something they'll fix with the next DLC. It's not too tough to add another 700 points of military strength.

That's what I thought, too. They planned some DLCs like taking back Omega which would grant you the rest of the EMS to hit it up to 4000. Or maybe those things were in fact in the game but were cut and that's where BW's confusion lies.

But that still leaves the question open what the "best" ending is. To me, Shepard surviving is an integral part of that --- but so is all my friends surviving (including EDI). As things stand at the moment, there is no "best" ending, and my desire to play those potential DLCs is rather limited.

Best is subjective, but it's stil a fact that there is content (all 10 seconds of it) in the single player campaign that currently cannot be accessed without the multiplayer or at least iOS apps.  Given that the series was entirely single player up to this game, that doens't make any sense.

I feel sorry for the people that can't use a save editor and instead have to go through the grindfest. Thankfully I was able to just edit the savegame.

What about people that can't though...

I completely agree, which is also the reason I started reading this thread in the first place. Just when I wanted to make my comment it occurred to me how pointless it feels to me to get above 4k.

Nonetheless it should be possible in SP, without any additional MP, apps, or maybe future ideas like "do you follow Casey Hudson on twitter? => 5 % more for you!" (/sarcasm).

Then there is the fact that the phone app was iOS also annoys me deeply since I have an Android phone. No, I didn't want actually want that app in the first place, but (a) I might have been tempted at some point but (B) it's not even an option. ... sorry, got a bit into ranting mode here

i am pretty sure that it is impossible to get 4k+ @50%.
why?
because i have a "perfect save" from ME1 2 and 3 with every hero/race alive/recruited/united capping out at something about 3800 EMS @50%!

Ditto. I ended up with around 3700 EMS.

Personally I'm put off by the fact that having played all three games and having invested about 100 hours across the entire series, I can't get enough EMS to access all the possible endings without playing multiplayer.

Thanks, Bioware.

I'm guessing they meant it was possible by using one of the ipad apps.

The MP also doesn't scale dependant on the number of players; and you get virtually no rewards for failing.

oh I agree it's ridiculous ( I actually have an ipad but I spent all my money on ME3 CE so I can't afford to download the ipad). I was just saying that that's probably what they meant by the statement and if they made a second official response that would probably be what they said.

I'm so glad Casey Hudson promised us that we could get the maximum best ending without touching any outside media other then SP campaign.

Then again, we were promised alot of things so I don't know why I'm acting so surprised

I only started playing the Multiplayer after beating the game. I had over 6000 by the game's end. I don't know how anyone can have any significant problem getting over 4000; you just have to make some halfway intelligent decisions and make sure you do all the sidequests, mini-sidequests, and exploration. If anything, I was surprised how much leeway I was given on the issue.

Unfortunately, I don't really have a screenshot, since I have been playing Multiplayer now for a couple weeks and have been steadily keeping the readiness level at 97 - 100%. So disbelieve me if you want.

The Datapad app is free to download.  It has a minigame in it that will help boost your GR (but it takes a while).

You had over 6000 Tms.  Total Military Strength  This is multiplied by the GR for your Ems (Effective Military Strength).

To get 4000 EMS you need 8000 TMS with 50% GR.  To have 5000 EMS you would need 10,000 TMS at a GR of 50% (Single player).

It is currently impossible to get over 3800ish EMS without either iOS apps or Multiplayer.  Thus you can not get the shep taking a breath ending without one of the two.

Without an Ipad or an Iphone ( I have neither), you're screwed though.  That's a problem.

I agree.  I was just stating that one of the two aps is actually free *if* you had an ipad, itouch or iphone.

The Datapad app, which you can raise Readiness through, is free.  (Edit: 'd)

I'm in agreement, though, that this whole thing is ridiculous. I was so reassured when they said we'd be able to get all the required points through SP alone, without having to use MP or apps or anything else. If you're playing on Xbox and don't have an iThing you have to pay for an XBL subscription you might not even want (or be able to afford) to unlock content in the SP campaign. That's just ridiculous. I'm very lucky that I'm able to play the Datapad game to raise Readiness because I can't do the MP so I 'd be screwed otherwise. I'm sure there are a lot of people who *are* screwed. I feel cheated because I put a lot of effort into getting a 'perfect' playthrough; hundreds of hours, all main and side quests completed, all DLCs, all scanning etc, and it *still* wasn't enough.

I really hope future DLC provides enough points to go over 4000 in SP alone - especially important for anyone replaying (or playing for the first time!) a few years down the line once the MP servers aren't on any more. Either that or just patch everyone's default readiness to 75% or something once they switch them off.

Bieng stuck in an area where affordable broadband doesn't exist sorta limits my options a bit. Or in other words I can only do SP. I can at least get DLC by going to a friends house, but obviously that's not really an option for MP. Hopefully it can be done in a not quite perfect playthough of the trilogy. I almost never kept the collector base.

Finally someone else who knows my pain!:o

But calling and ending "best" wasn't even one of the caveats that Bioware used in their quotes. Here's a direct quote from Mike Gamble:

Of course you don’t have to play multiplayer, you can choose to play all the side-quests in single-player and do all that stuff you’ll still get all the same endings and same information, it’s just a totally different way of playing

That quote says you should be able to get every ending by just playing the single player. It's a flat out lie. The really sad thing is that Bioware mods are pretty much going around and locking threads calling out Bioware on their BS. They say they aren't lies, but then they cowardly close the threads. How about explaining to us why the quote above isn't a lie. I'd love to hear the explanation because everything we know about the game says otherwise.

From importing from ME1/ME2 both close as perfect as you can get. In my first and only ME3 play-through I scanned all the planets and did every mission but Grissom Academy. The place was destroyed before I got to it. With that being said I got 6769 TMS, 50% RR, and 3384 EMS. I beat the game and haven't touched it since. The game was outstanding, but the ending was a buzz-kill. I have no desire to play because I feel like nothing can change anything. Now I'm not saying MP is bad, but I don't like the idea of it affecting SP. I don't have XBL at the time, so if it does change anything with the end I feel cheated.

I have the Datapad app. It's free, and there's a way to improve your readiness rating, but it takes forever. It takes 5+ hours to improve a system's rating by only 1.5%. I've been at it a week and am still at 58% total.
