I guess Jacob has changed from being the normal guy in the crew into the guy who cheats on you and gets a girl pregnant in six months of knowing her. I mean wow, just wow...oh yeah SPACE MAGIC:wizard:.

I don't think Bioware did it intentionally. They got lazy and probably thought they didn't have to dedicate much time to the "unpopular" character.

Really, you can tell it was because they were lazy. Look at Tali's face reveal, or hell, even the endings. They really like to phone it in.

He always seemed like a douche to me. I always got him a rocket in his face during my ME2 plays.

P***ed me off. Jacob was my Shepard's love interest, and then BOOM. "Did you expect me to wait forever?" No, but I expected you to wait more than, what, four goddamn months? F**k me Jacob, you didn't even visit, you just f**ked straight off and got someone else pregnant. Go f**k yourself.

Like father like son, I guess. Unrepentent a**holes.

Was he really unpopular?  I usually befriended him in most playthroughs, but I must admit I didn't use him in my squad that often because his weapon and power set up.  If he had a rifle instead of a shotgun then I might have used him more.

Yeah, he was probably the least popular character in 2. Sucks. But no one was really interested in the normal person in a game full of larger than life badasses.

But then again, none of the Mass Effect 2 romances (not counting Garrus and Tali) got satisfying conclusions either. Thane and Jacob just got the worst of it.

I wouldn't say it was intentional, but it's pretty damn ridiculous that's for sure.

They probably should have changed the event depending on whether your Shepard romanced him or not. On my male Shepard I didn't find anything particularly wrong with it but I can see how it would seem rather messed if you romanced him.

Still, it's rather strange that the only character who can actually say "I love you" to Shepard in the first two games is the only one who can cheat on her.

Well. Jacob was always that kind of token morale-booster kind of character.

He was useless outside of just kind of being there and sometimes having stuff to say.

Please, women have traditions of cheating at guys when they are in jail. It's just gender equality here!

hahahaha I was wondering how that would play out if you'd romanced him.

I guess I always saw the Jacob romance in ME2 as less about love and more about sexual tension/mutual admiration. It always seemed more like a fling to me than anything long-term.

edit: Also it seems like Jacob liked the idea of protecting Brynn. Shepard could take care of herself just fine. I guess he prefers being the big strong protector?

I'm glad I learned this before I ever romanced him.

And then you find out Brynn wants to name the kid Shepard. How is that for a kick in the balls (vag?) if you've romanced him? Geeze.
