Was he really unpopular?  I usually befriended him in most playthroughs, but I must admit I didn't use him in my squad that often because his weapon and power set up.  If he had a rifle instead of a shotgun then I might have used him more.

Yeah, he was probably the least popular character in 2. Sucks. But no one was really interested in the normal person in a game full of larger than life badasses.

But then again, none of the Mass Effect 2 romances (not counting Garrus and Tali) got satisfying conclusions either. Thane and Jacob just got the worst of it.

That's a shame.  My custom Shep romanced Jack (to me the most interesting option) and from playing as the default Shep imported from ME2 (who romanced Ashley), I don't imagine Jack could have much of a role romanticaly with Shep.

Though I don't know what happens to Thane in ME3 if he's romanced I can't imagine it was ever going to be good since we already knew he was dying (unless something really stupid happens in ME3 as wel as him dying).

Though I'm wondering conisdering you can at least try to be romantic with Samara (who rejects your advance ultimately), does anyone know if that has a significant impact on your encounter with her in ME3?

Yeah, I find it really odd that if you picked him as your love interest in ME2, he just jumps ship from you.

So your telling me if femshep romanced Jacob in ME2 the mentioning of getting the scientist pregnant still happens in ME3? Wow really.

I really don't think there was a plan to do it. They wanted to highlight that the world won't wait on Shepard, so it makes sense for one of the possible LI to move on after losing contact with them for a few months. I didn't even notice the connotations of having a black character do that whether you consider it a good or a bad thing I failed to notice that is really up to you.

I think the worse implication is that it is only because of his race people think he's been stereotyped.

The best part is it felt like the writer's were insulting me. Jacob acts like a smug **** (and doesn't really act like Jacob did in Mass Effect 2) and Brynn brags about stealing him away.

Never before have I needed a renegade interrupt. I can barely even tell Jacob off, and Shepard just compliments Brynn.

Well, he's not being stereotyped. Not at all.

He's being hamfisted into a relationship with another woman regardless of Shepard, but that's a different issue.

Anyways, it's Jacob. Maybe I'm just being callous here, but it's no biggie.

He may be a unpopular character and like what story doesn't but seriously I think that's wrong.

Never really cared much about Jacob, Kasumi (waste of my money), or Jack. Zaeed was my favorite and I was disappointed you barely see him in ME3.

Seconded. Immediately I thought

"Someone give this chick a datapad because OBVIOUSLY, SHE'S TRYING TO COMMIT SUICIDE...."

ETA: I mean, it was completely unacceptable though. I could see if like "oh we couldn't get the original VA back, we'll just have to break up the relationship blah blah blah" but no.... got the original VA... And they still wrote in that awful end? Same with Thane.

And you're meaning to tell me that I can hang up on the council, tell important government officials to suck a krogan nut, but around this random nobody I am obliged to be diplomatic? I don't think so.

Gotta give Jacob some credit though.

Takes some cojones to cheat on Commander Shepard.

FELLOW ZAEED LOVER? Please give me some hi-fivage.

I thought getting to talk to him on the little video thing was pretty cool at the end. I could totally see my femShep giving him some video dappage. "Kick some arse, Shepard." "Don't I always, Big Z?" But yeah, not enough of Big Z for my liking, even if the first time I did meet him I thought he was the ultimate stereotypical Australian sniper douchebag.

****, I liked him so much, I would have preferred him as a romanceable character to Jacob.

At least Thane stayed loyal until the end. Jacob, I don't think even Bioware cared about him. In the ME2 release days, he ws the only non-secret (Garrus being Archangel, and LEgion) charachter to not have his own charachter intro video.

Cheating on your girlfriend and getting another girl pregnant is a black stereotype? I'm seriously confused.

I guess Jacob has changed from being the normal guy in the crew into the guy who cheats on you and gets a girl pregnant in six months of knowing her. I mean wow, just wow...oh yeah SPACE MAGIC:wizard:.

Severe relationship issues in general are a Ghetto-Black stereotype.

It's not about the stereotype I guess, but more about Jacob disregarding you when you meet him.

Actually, he'd known her for a year.

yeah, but Shepard was also under house arrest for about what, 4-6 months? Brynn doesn't have a baby bump so she's most likely in her first trimester. That doesn't give a whole lotta room does it?

Zaeed has an English accent, not Australian.
